movies/tv Do you think Frozen is overated?

I was of the same opinion before a even watched the movie mainly for the same reasons. Unfortunately, like mlp and soon to be once upon a time, I was unable to escape. One night I was watching a "disney top x songs" vid and let it go was one of the listed. Being in tune to musical energy, my attention was instantly caught by said song. I even had to watch the movie, like I was suffering from an insatiable hunger for info related to the song. I've been obsessed with the riddle of the song's deep meaning, as well as elsa being she defined the song, since. Also doesn't help that they're disney related which means cursed to be insta-liked. Hoofin Walt and that blasted geyser of magic he discovered and manipulated by making his characters come to life and the disney name as alluring as one's greates desire.

Yes, the plot was weak, Olaf seemed unnecessary (although I liked him), I thought it was weird how Elsa couldn't control her powers and then all of a sudden she mastered everything in 'Let it Go'. Songs weren't that great either.

"Ya sure about that?" :wat: :wat:

It's VERY overrated.

Everyone is trying to make fame and money off of adding the idea, for example, Once Upon A Time introduced Anna and Elsa.

How about no.

The only thing that I ever hear about it anymore is that it is overrated. Maybe there was "too much" praise for it in the beginning, but now it's not really hyped anymore.

I recently watched it and liked it pretty well myself. I REALLY liked how

the resolution of the problem was dealt with the love between the sisters being fully realized, and not relying on a man, which it was falsely building up to.

When I hear someone call something like Frozen "overrated" I think it's more because of hype backlash. People who like the Frozen too much would say things that would make other people disappointed when the latter would go see it and legitimately not like it for their own reasons.

When Disney's next animated film, Big Hero 6 comes out, I hope there won't be nothing but complaints that "It not as good as Frozen!" Every movie is going to be different and even when you see a movie that you personally believe is the greatest thing you've seen, don't into the next movie expecting it to better than if not just as good as the previous movie. Along the path of releasing movies, there will always be times when the road of quality goes down the hill instead of up.

I see Frozen as being a great Disney movie up there with Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, and Mary Poppins, but I won't act like we've reached the peak and will forever be going downhill with the films' quality. Frozen is just another peak of the mountain range of Disney Animated Films, but it won't be the last.

For the record, the creators of Once Upon a Time HAD to ask the Disney Company to use the sisters in the show because the creators personally loved the movie and thought it had potential to be used in the show, NOT because the Disney company saw this as an attempt to make more money.

Some people claim that Frozen is above The Lion King, which is an overrated film in itself.

But it is an excellent film, deserving of its Academy Award (not much competition in the likes of Despicable Me 2, The Croods etc.) but at the same time I can't stand "Do You Want To Be A Snowman".

It's over-rated because the story had no plot, it changed all the time, none of the characters had solid roles or personalities, and nothing was explained. Especially how Elsa also had the powers to create life of a talking snowman. Stuff like that

(I did in fact comply with the Honest Trailers and 10 Things Wrong with the movie Frozen videos. THEY WERE ENLIGHTENING)

I thought Frozen was an alright movie. However I think of it as a movie that you want to see only once. When you watch it again you don't get the same.... joy. But that is only my opinion.

I hear "Let it go" very often, but I can tolerate it, because it was really well sung in the movie  :smug:

The word overrated is overrated. That'll be like saying. "Something is popular, but i didn't like it. Therefor i call it overrated". It can be used for anything to give something popular a negative feedback. The word overrated has some ego status too it which i don't condone much off. I would rather prefer "I don't like this because..."

But not gonna turn politically correct in the way of expression.

Haven't seen the film, but it looks fun ^^

Absolutely. It's sickening how overrated this movie is. I watched it twice, and it sucks. For one, they didn't even go into how Elsa got her powers. Really pathetic.

Then again, I am a hipster. But I did give it two chances before I could say I hated it. Didn't live up to the praise it received.

It was overrated is all I'm saying.

There are so many better Disney animated movies out there, and guess what? They don't even involve some OP princess!

Disney should start making movies without princesses, more down the line of, say, Oliver and Company, for the benefit of everyone.

No I don't. This was the Disney movie I was waiting to see since Tangled and The Princess and the Frog. It was funny, it was dramatic, and it was smart!

This movie is almost like the Anti-Shrek, a series that I don't particularly dislike, but rather is the one I think is overrated. Where Shrek was a biting satire of fairy tales and more or less an attack on the Disney setup, Frozen is almost like a sort of address rebuttal to it's accusers.

The creators obviously knew, understood, and loved the central soul of what makes a Disney movie great but were also smart enough to update it in a way that didn't veer into outright self-parody. (Such as the half and half success/failure of Enchanted.) No, they knew what they were doing. There's no wedding for the couple that only met yesterday and the villain is more complex in their motivation, and yet there's still this heartfelt sense of wonder, music, laughter, and magic to the experience.

Something often misunderstood, and we know this better than most, is that children's animation can't be written with no effort or intelligence. If that's the case, we get mindless pandering, call Frozen and Disney as a whole what you will, but nothing they do is ever out of a disrespect or irreverence to children.

"Your dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids who've grown up."

~Walt Disney

So no, no I don't think Frozen is overrated. If you think it is, I humbly ask you to watch it again and do what bronies do best. Kick the mainstream on it's ass, leave pre-conceived notions of twitter, youtube, etc. at the door, and just watch from your perspective alone.

Sigh, out of the 53 official movies released under the Disney Animated Studios (As of 2014), only 11 of them feature "Offical" Disney Princesses. (Offical meaning they are featured in the Disney Princess marketing group)

Here's a link that contains a list of the films: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon

Here's one that talks about the Disney Princess: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/DisneyPrincess

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Cinderella

Sleeping Beauty

The Little Mermaid

Beauty and the beast

Aladdin

Pocahontas

Mulan

Princess and the Frog

Tangled

Frozen

Brave is a Pixar film so I don't count it in the above list

11 out of 53 is about 20%  of the list, so no, Disney's majority of animated films is NOT princess films, just the more marketable ones. Heh, Doug Walker and his brother once joked after reviewing Frozen that the Disney Princesses films should be their own genre of films.

I love the Disney Princess films, but I enjoy most of all the others like Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lion King, 101 Dalmatians, Meet the Robinsons, and Wreck-it-Ralph. :D  It sounds more to me like everyone's complaining that the Disney Princess films are overrated despite the fact they still have a lot of good points to watching them. :okiedokielokie:  The details I shall explain another time.

I quite agree with you, Steel Accord. Couldn't have said it better myself.

YES, Frozen is overrated. When I first saw, I didn't like it. And after my most recent viewing of it, I still don't like it and I don't see how anyone could like it. The characters are naff, the story is weak and the songs are absolute EAR-RAPE. If I hear "Let it Go" one more time, I will gouge out my eyes with a rusty spork. One of Disney's worst >:(

Nope, I just think Frozen is the first Disney movie in a really long time that has gotten this ammount of love from people.  I just wish Tangled and Wreck-it Raplh recieved similiar feedback, although they were quite liked be the general audience and critics alike.

I don't think Frozen is overrated, I love the movie and the songs and am a big fan of a good amount of Disney movies.

Guess what?

I like Skrillex, but even I will admit he's an overrated artist.

It's ok if you like something overrated.

Don't be afraid to admit it.

That's pretty much the definition of overrated.

Something that gets more love than other things that deserve it.
