That's true. I just have two questions about this:

 

1) How are they going to fit all of this in just two episodes? From the trailer, it seems there is a LOT going on. So, I get the feeling that this premiere is going to be rather rushed, but I hope it's not.

 

2) Why didn't they ask Discord to go with them? They're going into unknown territory, so you would think that it'd be a good idea to take a physical god that's more powerful than Princess Celestia to help them if they get in a jam.

Actually I think it will be similar to the MLP season 4 premiere where they stuffed a bunch of exciting looking edits into the trailer but the episode is a bit less dense in reality. What I can guess from the trailers is this: In part 1 they are at the castle and they do a recap of what everybody has been doing. They discover the map and go to the town with the equal cutie marks and consequently lose their cutie marks. Then if Discord is really in the episode as has been rumored he will appear only in part 2. There is also the possibility that the loss of the cutie marks is part of a season long arc. The real life reason the Mane 6 don't ask characters like Discord to come with them off the bat is to make the experience more of challenge so the characters can grow of course. If Discord rescued them immediately it would be a 5 minute episode LOL. This kind of writing was also implied at the Directors Panel and the Rainbow Rocks commentary on the DVD. I too hope that they don't rush the episode because that would suck.

1) 40 minutes is a lot, I don't think it's going to be rushed.

There have always been many things going on in the season premieres/finales, but none of them were rushed.

I found it more stupid than anything. From a writing standpoint, why would you bother having the main character leave the group, only to get reunited with them two minutes. It also implies that the others are idiots and useless without Twilight. Regarding the story arcs, that was probably Hasbro's doing and not the fault of the writers.

It was very sloppy writing yes. I don't think it makes the others idiots or useless though. It was to show Twilight's leadership ability. Twilight needs the Mane 5 as much as the Mane 5 need her and I hope they touch on that in season 5 in a good way.

I've got pretty high hopes for this season. I just hope they haven't hyped it so much and it's underwhelming. 

 

Season 4 was excellent and if Season 5 is half as good, I'll be pleased. Of course, I hope that it's even better

If you talk about the rumor that Aliens might show up in S5, then i have to dissapoint you.

 

This rumor came to live because a user on 4chan (please don't burn me for mentioning the site.) was bored and threw a random idea into the room, which later somehow involved into a rumor, that spread through the fandom.

 

So no, i am certain we won't see any aliens.

I think that the umm........ = ponies(?) are actualy queen Chrysalis and her changeling army and are trying to get the cutie mark magic (?) from the main 6.Or they are just really happy ponies with no talents as of yet and they will join the CMCs.

I really wish they'd give us more background on the Tree of Harmony. What's the point of having an utterly devastatingly powerful object with no backstory.

I sure hope its good intentions gone bad, that would be something different for the show. And I sure hope its not "woo I'm evil!" because we already got that several times already.

Personally, I think that was better executed in episodes like "Winter Wrap-Up." I hear we're getting an episode about Pinkie's family in season 5. I'd like to see episodes focusing on the families of the Mane Six, particularly Rainbow Dash's and Fluttershy's. It'd also be interesting to see Rarity's parents again, just to see how the family interacts with one another.

I think both nana pinkie and granny pie are the same pony. They both mean grandparent. The only way they couldn't be is if they are on two sides of the family.
