More colorful male ponies

From what I have seen, the guys tend to be on adverage less colorful. There are lots of whites and browns and dark blues and greys.

I have spotted the occasional light violet/purple stallion in the background, but you're right they do seem to trend towards browns and grays. But that might be confirmation bias. I'm aware some analysts have done a male/female ratio count on the show, is there a 'color chart' analysis running around anywhere?

As for the show, it would be hard to disagree with you, but we might be better served if we have some detailed analysis on the subject as it can be easy to miss some background male ponies.

My OC is blue and purple, which I guess is sorta colorful. Not as colorful or vibrant as a pink stallion; of course, but at least it isn't grey, white, or black, and it's a lighter shade of blue.

while a large number of males do seem to varying shades of grey, brown, and white, i quickly did a run through of the MLPwiki and found quite a few male ponies who weren't.

surprisingly, there's a noticeable number of yellow-toned male ponies, as well. Only one black, though (go Thunderlane!)

I'm afraid I might be guilty of this with my OC, but I had it in mind to make him foresty coloured so the reddish brown of the earth just seemed a natural fit.

 

That said, had his cutie mark not stood out well enough against his coat, I was prepared to make him sky blue.

I agree that there is no reason to restrain what various male characters look like. They should be as vibrant as others.

I've got a father/son pair of OC's who are bright in colors but they have dark hair. Had to balance them somehow I guess.

Yeah, I haven't noticed stallions tend to have less vivid colors than mares  . there are very few with vivid colors, but I think I saw a pink coated one in the Super Squezy Cyder 9000 (or whatever is called) episode. there are a good number of vivid colored stallions in the Crystal Empire though

Yea notice most people go for safe colors when come to there male pony OC. But still so many colors pick from. And even if want to be more musclin, there are colors for you. For my OC for exmple. His Military Green our is it Pine Tree Green, not sure. And with it i have brown mane with blue eyes. And think my colors are colorfull. And also the green color to me is just so caming and kind to my eyes. Praboly the reasone i pick that color. BUt before going with green, i was thinking i would go with brown. Am so glad now i dident.

 

But feel any one should really pick what ever color they want, like pick for exmple. Pink can also for a man, be a where bold color too have. And make you seem more daring and and self comfendent abut yourself.  :comeatus:

I think the best looking Stallion is that dark blue one with the constellation cutie mark. Not very "girly" but still pretty.

Riley, my male OC, is red with a golden-blonde mane. His little brother Reece is magenta.

 

I have ideas for more stallions (I need more chicks), but they're not all that vibrant.
