web Thoughts on CreepyPasta?

I enjoy it even though I don't really get scared by it. I prefer having it read to me by CreepyPasta youtubers like MrCreepyPasta, CreepsMcPasta and CreepyPastaJr than reading it.

Hey, just wanted to post a quick reminder to keep anything posted in this thread age appropriate for the site.  A lot of creepy pasta falls into NSFW territory, so please refrain from linking to anything explicit or anything with excessive violence, gore, jump scares, or otherwise inappropriate for the forum.  Thanks!

I find them mostly just funny and entertaining.  Just something to search for late at night when you're bored and the games are played out and the forums are all dried up.

Also, they should come out with a brand of pasta noodles called Creepy Pasta.  With like a lil grinning jack-o-lantern on the package.  That's a million dollar idea, right there.

Here's the thing with CreepyPasta that most of its writers do not seem to get; It needs to have that feeling of credibility for it to be scary. Riding on the coat tails of a mildly good fic that got some attention is not going to do it. There needs to be evidence, testimony, facts that can be proven intermingled with the fabricated ones; Just enough truth to make you question where the story ends and the reality begins.

Ben Drowned is a classic example of this: The man who made it spaced out the telling of the story, fabricated footage of the game, and even used a platform known for getting creepy ( a la Cleverbot) messages that people still hit up asking "who drowned?" He put the effort into making it believable, and the more believable the story is the more unsettling it becomes.

Having been reading CreepyPastas since late 2011, I can say they have declined in quality. IMO, 2012 was the best time for CreepyPastas. I gave up on them mid last year when they started uploading crappy CopyPastas from 2 years ago. I spend too much time on the internet...

I can't think what to put here, so have a swimsuit Spencer Sotello

in my opinion i honestly think of creepypastas as like something similar to the movie troll 2, they're so bad its enjoyable for me.
they all feel the same, and with that they also get very bland and generic as time pass on. i'm not sure if that honestly fuels my lols because it gets repetitive after a while

Man I love reading CreepyPasta at night! I love it when I feel like a demon of some kind is sitting at the foot of my bed. And I recently read one about gas that made you not sleep. My god, the idea terrified me. Its on YouTube too. It should be called The Russian Sleeping Gas. But I can't remember.
