Non native English speakers

HAHAHAHAHAAAAA XDDDDDDD  . Oh my god, I totally see myself at that rage comic, I don't really like how I sound speaking English myself   . How about you fellow non native speakers? satisfied of how you speak it, or you still have the need to improve?

Yeah, that's about right. Or at least it would be right - my high-school English class' final grade had a verbal component in it (you had to speak out a short lecture about a topic of your choice to an audience). To practice, me and my friends used to speak in English in our spare time, and i now have decent dialogue skills in spoken English.

I am a native English speaker and this still describes me. I'm far more proficient in the language when I type because I have time to think about it before I ever hit post. I stutter a lot when I speak and trip over my words quite a bit because I'm always rushing to say something before the topic is over.

This is only major thing left of my accent that i can think of atm.

 

And that I have some self confidence issues when talking English in person, Same goes with recording my voice/myself.

I'm not a native English speaker, but I am certainly better in English than my native language, Bengali. I can't even write or read Bengali.

English is my third language. But I speak it more than Greenlandic (native language) or Danish (first foreign language we learn).

 

I always use English with my friend. Dunno about speaking with others, though… I get nervous and stutter and can't find the right words. I think it's the social interaction that gets to me, rather than lack of language skills

Do you want to know what both my English and Foreign Language teachers told me throughout High School? That most people who have English as a second or third language can speak it better than most of us who have it as our first language.

 

And after having spent my entire life living in England and hearing the language warped and twisted on a daily basis, I 100% agree with that statement.

I'm also a native English speaker, but like Discordian, I find it easier to type or text, as it's (usually) easier think if what to say before I post; I don't know about Discordian, but I prefer texting or typing to speaking!

I love to (vocally) speak English; unfortunately, I don't have many opportunities to practice. But I'm sure that if you put me in a place where I can only speak English for a week or so, I'll get used real fast. The only difficult thing is that it tires my tongue a little bit faster, but that's a matter of getting used to seldom used tongue movements.

I think my written English is definitely better than my spoken one. I've got a moment to think about what to say and I don't hear myself speaking in this foreign language which always makes me  nervous.

But I always could convey my points when talking in English, so I don't think it's too bad either. So this is comic is not completely fitting xD

Until recently, I very rarely used my spoken English. But in the last few months I took part in some RPG sessions over Discord. There were some problems and misunderstandings, but generally I think I was pretty good at expressing my thoughts and understanding what other people say. My pronunciation is far from perfect, but I think it's good enough to be communicative.

I can say that my written english is 100% better than my spoken english. Two of my biggest problems are that I really often forget vocabularies and that I often do not know how to pronounce a word correct. But in the last two years, I started more to talk to myself in english instead of german because I try so to learn a little bit better the language.

I definitely do relate to OPs picture indeed I believe my written English comes off as somewhat better. Regardless when I speak English it is fine really perhaps pronunciation might be different but you know it is an entirely different language so that would be expected.

I think my english is good enough, so that people understand me. I definitely have an accent, but it's not as strong as it used to be anymore. The most difficult part are simply new words. No matter how much I learn, there is almost always a new word popping up. Dialects can be difficult to understand too. It really depends.

A few weeks ago l did a VC on Discord with some of my friends, one of them say that l have a Russian accent.

I had to learn English from scratch. I failed it at school, but internet (messageboards at the time) was the better teacher.
