Zekromic 1,054 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 (edited) HAHAHAHAHAAAAA XDDDDDDD . Oh my god, I totally see myself at that rage comic, I don't really like how I sound speaking English myself . How about you fellow non native speakers? satisfied of how you speak it, or you still have the need to improve? Invincible 2,091 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 Yeah, that's about right. Or at least it would be right - my high-school English class' final grade had a verbal component in it (you had to speak out a short lecture about a topic of your choice to an audience). To practice, me and my friends used to speak in English in our spare time, and i now have decent dialogue skills in spoken English. 1 My OCs for Roleplay purposes: o Lit Fuse (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/lit-fuse-r6608) o Dust Devil (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/dust-devil-r7357)
Discordian 6,015 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 I am a native English speaker and this still describes me. I'm far more proficient in the language when I type because I have time to think about it before I ever hit post. I stutter a lot when I speak and trip over my words quite a bit because I'm always rushing to say something before the topic is over.
Castle_Cross 331 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 I don't really know! I'm always speaking In Spanish, I'd have to speak to a person to try or something xD
B o n e s 38 December 4, 2014 Share December 4, 2014 (edited) I can relate to this image, Though.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alveolar_trill This is only major thing left of my accent that i can think of atm. And that I have some self confidence issues when talking English in person, Same goes with recording my voice/myself. Lunatic Cake 1,618 December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 I don't think I need to improve, however getting to learn some different accents seems appealing. :3 Sig by: Kyoshi

TimeyMarey007 110 December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 I'm not a native English speaker, but I am certainly better in English than my native language, Bengali. I can't even write or read Bengali. I'm like equal in speaking, writing and typing English, but then, if I try to speak English, there can be a few errors. Also check out my OC vectors! omg this is some outdated stuff
Silver Letter 1,832 December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 I don't have a native language. I speak English well though. I also am proficient in writing and reading and enjoy both practices. ARagY 1,152 December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 My English abilities have started to wane because of how infrequently I've used it in the past few years. Although I can type in it, I'd sooner like to switch to Russian when talking. 1 To each their own
StarChaser 51 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 English is my third language. But I speak it more than Greenlandic (native language) or Danish (first foreign language we learn). I always use English with my friend. Dunno about speaking with others, though… I get nervous and stutter and can't find the right words. I think it's the social interaction that gets to me, rather than lack of language skills

Sceethe 704 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 it´s not that bad for me, but i can still relate. especially since i have little to no practice in actually speaking the language, my austrian accent usually shines through very heavily (think of schwarzenegger, but not as cool :/ )
Verily British 145 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 Do you want to know what both my English and Foreign Language teachers told me throughout High School? That most people who have English as a second or third language can speak it better than most of us who have it as our first language. And after having spent my entire life living in England and hearing the language warped and twisted on a daily basis, I 100% agree with that statement.
Galen Selanno 351 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I'm a native English speaker, but everybody past my great-grandfather Duncan was born speaking Italian, German, Slovak, French, or Spanish. Hypn0ticD 1,213 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I'm also a native English speaker, but like Discordian, I find it easier to type or text, as it's (usually) easier think if what to say before I post; I don't know about Discordian, but I prefer texting or typing to speaking! caramba2654 602 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I love to (vocally) speak English; unfortunately, I don't have many opportunities to practice. But I'm sure that if you put me in a place where I can only speak English for a week or so, I'll get used real fast. The only difficult thing is that it tires my tongue a little bit faster, but that's a matter of getting used to seldom used tongue movements. I won't be a complete brony until I get a Thunderlane plushie and go to a convention.
Astralshy 26,872 January 29, 2022 Share January 29, 2022 I think my written English is definitely better than my spoken one. I've got a moment to think about what to say and I don't hear myself speaking in this foreign language which always makes me nervous. But I always could convey my points when talking in English, so I don't think it's too bad either. So this is comic is not completely fitting xD
Silly Druid 7,023 January 29, 2022 Share January 29, 2022 (edited) Until recently, I very rarely used my spoken English. But in the last few months I took part in some RPG sessions over Discord. There were some problems and misunderstandings, but generally I think I was pretty good at expressing my thoughts and understanding what other people say. My pronunciation is far from perfect, but I think it's good enough to be communicative. Edited January 29, 2022 by PawelS
IronM17 5,389 January 29, 2022 Share January 29, 2022 I can say that my written english is 100% better than my spoken english. Two of my biggest problems are that I really often forget vocabularies and that I often do not know how to pronounce a word correct. But in the last two years, I started more to talk to myself in english instead of german because I try so to learn a little bit better the language.
Vefka 1,499 January 30, 2022 Share January 30, 2022 Yeah, last time I had to speak English I had to describe a picture in school and ended up with 2 awkward simple sentences
Fluttershyfan94 5,742 January 31, 2022 Share January 31, 2022 I definitely do relate to OPs picture indeed I believe my written English comes off as somewhat better. Regardless when I speak English it is fine really perhaps pronunciation might be different but you know it is an entirely different language so that would be expected. 2 DA: http://fluttershyfan94.deviantart.com/ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fluttershyfan94
dead account 2,711 February 11, 2022 Share February 11, 2022 I think my english is good enough, so that people understand me. I definitely have an accent, but it's not as strong as it used to be anymore. The most difficult part are simply new words. No matter how much I learn, there is almost always a new word popping up. Dialects can be difficult to understand too. It really depends.
Midnight Danny 9,025 February 11, 2022 Share February 11, 2022 (edited) My written English (still not better anyway ) is probably much better than speaking.
