We broke every part of him and capped him every time, expensively using up our pitfall traps since we don't trust the successful use of shock traps as he has broken them on us on multiple occasions. 

What a concept, a trap based around electrifying doesn't work on a lightning monster...

Well, yeah, its just at first we didn't want to waste the pitfalls on him back in high rank. We actually have gotten successful captures on him with shocks, its just, sometimes they kinda explode after you get him in them. Regardless, Lagiacrus (whom I affectionately nickname sandwich dragon for stupid reasons) loves his lightning, and shock traps work on him. I remember back when I was still just a fledgling hunter, we were doing some lagi grinds and my buddy was putting down the shock trap when lagi launched a lightning ball at him, so to keep it from hitting him and interrupting the trap set I ran and jumped face first into the attack. He got the trap down, but the tranq bombs didn't work for some reason, so we ended up killing him.

The main reason Lagi is vunerable to shock traps is mostly because if he weren't, underwater captures would be impossible.

 

Its also understandable if folks get trap-types misplaced as some monsters can gain/lose immunity depending on what state it is in. For example, Diablo and Rajang are immune to Pitfall traps but not if they are enraged.

 

I think Khezu had a similar effect with shock traps.

@@Malinter, True, especially since lagi in Flooded Forest is nearly never on land, I've only ever seen him go on land in the nest in FF.

Been getting back into the game for MHU4. Just nearly got my ass handed to me by a G-rank plesioth. I hate fighting underwater, especially in the flooded forest XD

 I actually prefer FF for underwater combat, there is a lot less room for them to do their rush attacks so they barely use those. I find that during underwater combat in DI, the monsters do a lot more rushing of back and forth, and you have to sheath and swim after them a lot more often, which leaves you voulnerable to being hit if its a move that is better to block than dodge, or if you are bad at dodging.

Least they fixed the hit box for his "hip-dash" attack. XD

 

 

I also hope Deviljo is more behaved in MHU4, i don't mind him crashing the party from time to time but NOT EVERY FREAKING G-CLASS MISSION! >_<

I've only played Tri U, so that's my favorite. My favorite monster would have to be the Agnaktor. There is something about breaking its armor that I enjoy. Also, I'm a switchaxe user.

More than half of giant creatures that japan creates. They just love giant creatures with lazer beams.

I got two mantles and a ruby from a single Rathalos. Then I get a mantle from a Nargacouga. This game loves me.

The lazer monsters are the best monsters XD I've read that Black Gravios now as an attack where he literally flies straight up and uses his heat beam straight down and pushes himself up with it like a rocket. XD

 

Besides thats nothing, I'm pretty sure the Rajang in MHU4 is the one that can do the spirit bomb attack XD

I've actually avoided fighting Gore Magala on the demo purely so I can enjoy fighting him when the actual game comes out. Plus the demo gives you pretty decent gear to slap it around, might pick a few bad habits fighting it which might bite me in the ass when i face it in the real game with the early game weapon, the sort that feel like they're made from toilet rolls, paper clips and duck tape. XD

I nearly fainted 3 times in the fight that I killed it, even with the awesome weapons and armor the demo gave me.

 

I've actually avoided fighting Gore Magala on the demo purely so I can enjoy fighting him when the actual game comes out. Plus the demo gives you pretty decent gear to slap it around, might pick a few bad habits fighting it which might bite me in the ass when i face it in the real game with the early game weapon, the sort that feel like they're made from toilet rolls, paper clips and duck tape. XD

Yeah it probably won't be as "easy" as in the demo... the demo Gore Mangala, it's slower than a nargacuga (my personal most hated monster), faster than angry rathalos, you can pierce every part of it with at least green sharpness, and it deals more damage in one hit than a lagiacrus.

when you get the weapon charged to 5 vails, activate its final combo but when you reach the final attack (the morph-axe glowing and shaking before the final explosive swing) sheath the sword back into the shield (as if you were charging a vail) and you get a buff where the shield glows red. It will now block like a lance shield.

 

Gather 5 vials again and now activate the super combo, the final attack is now a roundhouse swing followed by an explosive blade of air that travels forwards! It even stuns enemies it hits like a hammer!! XD

Lets see....

uses vails like the bow...

morphs like a switch-axe...

stuns like a hammer...

has SnS mobility and defence....

can upgrade itself to the lance's defence ability...

 

...nah, sounds balanced to me.

 

You should also check out the Gunlance in Monster Hunter Frontier. They can shoot magma lasers when they wyvern-fire, just like Agna and Gravios do. XD
