Theory on Celestia's mane

So, I had this random theory coming out of my mind.

In "Friendship is Magic part 1", we see Celestia with her pink mane before Luna became evil, and it is generally accepted that young Sunbutt had a pink mane. 1000 years later, her mane is pink and blue. My theory is that this is due to the fact that she had to take on a new responsibility, and her mane kind of symbolized that. What's pink? The sunrise is pink. What's blue? Twilight is a kind of blue that is similar to Celestia's mane. What if she got that additional color because now she had to bring sunrise and twilight instead of only the pink sunrise?

I think it's more a power thing. 1000 years is a long time for her to grow as a powerful entity. When Nightmare Moon was defeated and reverted to Luna, we saw a standard pony mane on her. Now Luna has changed completely, returning to a form more akin to Celestia's. Perhaps as they grow stronger, they become less like the other ponies.

You could refute this due to the lack of change after removing their powers to avoid Tirek. But I'd argue that the process was too fast and controlled to warrant an immediate form reversion. It'd be different to NMM, as the magic that formed her body was pretty much blasted off of Luna, leaving behind what Luna's real(weakened) body was.

I kinda like where this is going. Can I use this theory?

But yeah I kinda have to agree with you though I never gave their hair much thought before now. That makes me wonder though, if Twilight was as long-lived as they are for example. (Though I doubt she'll live longer than a normal pony cause of her friends.) would her own mane look like theirs with time? Or would it be a born Alicorn thing and not a made alicorn thing. I assume the two sisters were born alicorns myself.

Maybe everytime celestia teaches someone something important about friendship, her mane grows a bit bigger, and after a few hundred friendship advices, she gets a new color.too!

Kind of how it is with morgan freeman:

Meh, the beginning of season 4 contradicts this

What the new guy said. :3

The flashback of Celestia and Luna stoning Discord the first time around was 1000 years ago. Celestia still had her flowing rainbow mane. It can be scrapped up to writer inconstancy, I imagine. If Lauren had stayed on the show, we may have seen a pink-maned Celestia in a flashback at some point, but as is, it appears the writers either consciously didn't want to deal with trying to explain the change, or they completely forgot Lauren and her artists had Celestia with a pink mane when she was younger.

Probably best to chalk it up to writers inconsistency.

Though I like to think Luna and Celestia's flowing manes come from tying themselves to the moon and the sun; Starswirl in the journal of the two sisters said alicorns would grow in power instead of being weakened by creating a link between them and celestia objects that they'd control.
