ggg-2 3,553 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 A lot on bronies say that the CMC (or if they will even BE the CMC anymore, which i doubt) will have potential for character development after they get their cutie marks. I'm personally not sure about this. The writers have a history of giving ponies of the CMC's age their cutie marks, but not doing anything with them. (Twist and Featherweight, i'm looking at you) Those ponies got their cutie marks, but the writers never went on to do anything with it. We don't even know what Featherweight's cutie mark was meant to represent. After they got their marks, they were reduced to background appearances. Are our little friends doomed to this same fate? cmarston1 5,959 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 Of course not. We already have Applejack for that. Seasons 3 and especially 4 have shown that the CMC can have some pretty good character development and focus without having to deal with trying to get their cutie marks for the 554th time so I don't see why they can't develop after they got their cutie marks.
Pastel 7,630 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 (edited) I don't think so, that would be a bad move from the writers. They're important characters, I don't see why they would stop making episodes about them. And even if the CMC get their cutie mark at some point, they can still make good episodes about them, look at Hearts and Hooves Day, it wasn't about cutie marks at all. I doubt it mainly because unlike those other two, the CMC's are fully fleshed out characters with growing va's and are among the most popular elements on the show. It's more likely that they have a plan for them in store and it's merely a matter of if they can execute it correctly and well. Heck, as cmarston1 mentioned, some of their best episodes have been when they don't focus on finding their cutie marks. _GLaDOS_ 102 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 I wouldn't think so as they have had a lot of their own episodes. Perhaps they would get their cutiemarks when the final season of the show comes along. I wouldn't think they would be put in the background, perhaps for a plot they would have to help out the Mane 6. Besides, the have voice actress' who go to Cons, (Even Babs) So I wouldn't believe it if they just fired them or said "Yo, out of de building, your characters have fulfilled in life." Unlikely. I'm positive that perhaps once they get their cutiemarks, they may have to learn the lessons of life that they didn't learn while they were trying to earn their cutiemarks. Batbrony 16,055 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 Will the CMC be reduced to background characters? Yeah, no. Even if they do get their cutie marks before the series ends, the examples you cited were minor characters to begin with, so it's really not sound logic to compare Twist or Featherweight to the most important characters in Ponyville besides the Mane 6 and Spike. So don't worry about it, because there's literally no reason to make a mountain out of this molehill that doesn't even exist. "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes... cupcakes aren't good enough. Sometimes ponies deserve more. Sometimes ponies deserve to have their faith rewarded... with muffins!!!" -The Muffin Mare
Honsou 399 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 Nope, the show will continue to feature them as main characters. The CMC are more of a comedic lesson to children about not losing faith in what makes them special.
The Awesome One 1,315 April 18, 2015 Share April 18, 2015 They are handling the characters really well as it is right now. The Mane Six get equal attention except for Twilight considering she always was kind of the main character and then we have these secondary characters who have all gotten a decent amount of screen-time like the CMC and Spike. Tao 7,788 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 I don't think so, we could be looking at the next Gen also as the stories go but who knows given the CMC still have a bright path even of they get their cuties marks of growing up and learning new things as we all do in life! FlutterDash4072 189 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 Twist and Featherweight were never meant to be anything but background ponies. The CMC are main characters, and they're not going to toss them to the side when they get their cutie marks. Signature made by Wheatley
Stardust Balance 7,739 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 I really doubt that, considering the development the three of them went throughout the whole seasons up until now. CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 I don't think so. Remember, two of them are little sisters to two of the Mane 6 and I can see Scootaloo hanging out with Rainbow Dash more in the future. They'll always be supporting characters. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people. Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 If seasons 3 and 4 taught us anything it's that if treated with respect the CMC are intriguing characters; and their stories don't always have to revolve around wanting to get their cutie marks ASAP. Scootaloo dealing with her flight issues and Sweetie Belle's sisterly problems are GREAT ways to build and develop them. The example you bring up, though, can't really be compared. Twist and Featherweight were never really meant to be starring characters; which the CMC are. They have a purpose, but part of that was to remain in the background until a certain episode calls for their usefulness. Unlikeable Pony 2,698 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 I seriously doubt it, as they've put some real effort into developing them as characters, meaning they've got alot of room to grow after their cutie marks. That being said, as unpopular as this may be, I wouldn't mind it. I don't really like the CMC and would rather their episode slots be given to the mane six instead XD

Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,557 October 12, 2015 Share October 12, 2015 This is not a fear I have. The CMC's usually had their own stuff going on anyways unless there was an episode dedicated to them and that is always how it has been. Now the CMC's have even more reasons to have their own episodes (due to a certain thing I will not mention) so I have no worries on this. The thing is, Twist and Featherweight were characters that did not have any major importance in the first place. They both got their cutie marks in like, the first appearance they made. So the writers may have never had any use for them anyways, unlike the CMC's, which have always had a lot of plans and potential.

M'gann M'orzz 745 October 14, 2015 Share October 14, 2015 There isn't enough space for them there since there's Fluttershy there. man, thinking about it. Fluttershy hasn't spoken a single word in like 5 or 6 episodes now right? That's crazy... Anyway the CMC will be fine, Crusaders of the Lost Mark set up a new purpose for them as a group and they all already had solo focus episodes that had little to do with Crusading anyway.
