Grumpy Enchantress 586 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 (edited) Everyone seems to hate Twilight Sparkle now that she's a princess. Do you guys? Edited May 6, 2015 by Grumpy Enchantress
Mesme Rize 15,683 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 No. But even if i didn't like her as a character, i still wouldn't hate her, because my hate is reserved for Real Life people, that actually deserve my hate. 9 My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Jeric 46,851 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 Nope. I didn't become a Brony until Season 4, though I was tangentially aware of Ms. Sparkle's accension ... once up a time she was my favorite character until that honor was bestowed to Rarity. This sort of kills the notion that even a majority hate her post Twilacorn. Also,
silvadel 1,393 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I think more that the fandom has grown beyond Twilight Sparkle and most people see the show through the lens of one of the other ponies. I figured she was going to be a princess someday LONG before Magical Mystery Cure and was into the fics that had her ascending. 2 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Pastel 7,630 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 (edited) Hate? Nobody does, I hope. Dislike? Maybe some of them. I for one preferred when she was a regular unicorn, but I still like her (just less than before). She isn't that different. Steve Piranha 29,424 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I don't think so, maybe she was more liked before, as she used to be the main focus of the show, until it progressively focused on the rest of the Mane6 and the CMCs Sig by Discords
Cleverclover 1,526 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 *raises hand* I certainly didn't use to, though, but I now like her considerably less since she became a princess.
ManaMinori 4,145 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I don't HATE her, but I do dislike her. I don't like the fact that she's become an alicorn princess because the toyline called for it. I don't like how she has a mentor-complex- especially because it's OMG BUCKING CELESTIA!!!!! I don't like how she tends to resort to a magical 'cure all' for everything, and doesn't learn that magic ISN'T needed to solve every problem that comes her way (and in fact, only seems to make matters WORSE, all the times she HAS used magic for the answer). I dislike the fact that she- and following HER example, her friends, continue to treat Spike as if he's a BABY dragon. I greatly dislike Twilight for the following reasons, and probably more. But I don't HATE her. ehhhhhhhhhhhh....her design is cool....I guess.... 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Prince Firemane 309 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 (edited) I certainly do not, she was my favorite character when she was a Unicorn, she continues to be my favorite character now that she's an Alicorn. Whenever I hear people voicing their disdain for Twilicorn, it's not so much that she's literally got wings, it's that they perceive Twilight having some kind of narrative supremacy over her friends. But they act like this is something new. People in the fandom have a tendency to forget that Twilight has always had a narrative supremacy over her friends, she is the main character of the show. This is and always has been Twilight's journey and Twilight's story. This was established way back in the first episode. While the others get their own focus and their own development, they still are there to help Twilight down her path. But season 2 kind of screwed that dynamic when Celestia had the rest of them give friendship reports as well. I theorize that if that hadn't happened, Twilicorn would've been better received. I see it as an attempt to give the others more development, but a lot the fandom took it to mean that it dispelled the "single main character" dynamic, so when Twilight got wings, many people saw it as Twilight becoming superior to her friends. AccountNoLongerUsed 741 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 (edited) OK. Thats it. I am ticked off now. Why the BUCK cant you people just be happy for Twilight for becoming an Alicorn, an accomplishment only one other known pony (Cadance, originally a Pegasus) was able to achieve? How is being an Alicorn make her any different personality wise? "Durr, I hate her becoming an Alicorn because its just a ploy to sell more toys": (facehoof), Ok, sure maybe that was ONE of the reasons, but it was not the only reason. I do wish the episode she became an Alicorn was a two parter and had a deeper story, but that doesnt mean she didnt deserve her ascension. This was going to happen someday anyway. Dear Sisters of Sun and Moon this is annoying. Edited May 6, 2015 by Wyllow
Mesme Rize 15,683 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 Some people dislike Twilight because they see her as a mary sue. I don't see her that way, though. My usual reply, when people call her a mary sue, because this word has lost all it's meaning these days. 7 My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,493 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 I don't. In fact, I actually like her waaaaaaaaaaaay more nowadays. Sommar 1,289 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 (edited) There are people that certainly dislike Twilight for a variety of reasons, one being her personality. Maybe some people just don't like her nerdiness or something. Or maybe it's because she ascended into an Alicorn. Whatever the case may be, it's okay if someone dislikes Twilight. It's just someone's opinion and no one should get mad at said person just because they don't like a specific character. It's a waste of time to get mad on their part. Personally, I like Twilight due to her adorkable personality. For the longest time she was my favorite pony, before and after her transformation. In fact, I didn't mind her transformation at all; I think she deserved the title. I mean yeah I kinda miss her being a unicorn, but she's still pretty cool for an Alicorn. Twi may not be my favorite pony anymore, but she's will always be high on my favorite ponies rank. Edited May 6, 2015 by Sommar

As for Twilicorn hate...I loved her when she was a unicorn, all the Alicorn acsension did was give me an extra pair of wings to find adorable too. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! Cleverclover 1,526 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 Why the BUCK cant you people just be happy for Twilight for becoming an Alicorn, an accomplishment only one other known pony (Cadance, originally a Pegasus) was able to achieve? 1. Because her becoming a princess came at the cost of her character flaws and nearly everything else that once made her relatable (at least to me). 2. Because she wields magic with extreme recklessness and brushes it off like it's nothing, simply because it's rare for an episode to call her out for any wrongdoing whatsoever because the writers want to maintain her status as a shining beacon of perfection. 3. Because she has simply become an objectively worse character since it happened.

She's gotten objectively better and is now second best pony when she used to only be fifth. Edited May 6, 2015 by Grumpy Enchantress

If these episodes were written while she was a Unicorn you would probably still hate them the same way. And if they made some good episodes centered around her as an Alicorn, you wouldnt care that she was an Alicorn. Or rather, shouldnt care. Mesme Rize 15,683 May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 Because she has simply become an objectively worse character since it happened. You know, you shouldn't throw around the word objectiveness, because if that was the case, more people would actually dislike her. Besides, i don't believe in objective opinions. 4 My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar.
