Favourite villains in the FiM Franchise

This may have been asked before, but I had a question for those who follow both the show and the comics. Which are some of your favourite villains from there, and why?

I would have to say Tyrek because it was interesting what he was able to do a villain by stealing other ponies cutie marks to become more powerful. It was also something how he was able to get Discord to work alongside him and how Discord was betrayed by Tyrek in the end.

Discord when he was a villain, I still love him now though. I don't really care about the other ones.

In sheer entertainment value and charisma I would have to say that pre-reformed Discord is my favorite villain.

Although Tirek is in a very close second with him as well.

People who know me know that I am one HELL of a Sombra fan. I just love this guy; he has intelligence, patience, and doesn't let his ego cloud his judgement. <3

After that it would be Chrysalis, Tirek, Glimmer, and the Sirens.

Starlight Glimmer. She was different from all the power hungry villains that MLP has.

I'd go with Starlight Glimmer for my favorite villain. She was much more interesting to me than the other villains due to her not relying on brute force or magical powers to help her reach her goal; she used what she had combined with intelligence to help her. She also didn't fail due to her getting cocky, unlike most of the other villains.

I hope we get to see her again as her fate has yet to be confirmed in the show.

Discord is one of the best characters, hooves down, but like Q, even when he was a villain, he wasn't pure evil.  Chrysalis is pretty awesome.  Underdeveloped with lots of potential.  But I think I will have to say Starlight, due to her originality, and not being a big, sinister brute from the pit of Tartarus, or something similar.  I think having a villain that's a pony their own size is great, because it gives her more personality, makes it feel, y'know, more face to face.  She had such a controversial goal as well, with all kinds of philosophical, ethical, and sociological issues.  This made her so much more interesting than "Imma blow up Equestria!  Oh no!  I've been defeated by friendship!  Nooooo!"

I've always though that Discord was the best villain. There hasn't been very many villains that I've actually liked.

Discord pre-"Twilight's Kingdom", in that he was both competent and a villain who enjoyed being jerk to everyone "for the lulz".

Queen Chrysalis (show only) for being smart enough to able to deceive everyone through playing up the Bridezilla angle and wounded gazelle gambits during her impersonation of Cadance, building up enough power to challenge Celestia and overpower her, plus she had a really good song-too bad she warned everyone ahead of time with that threat she issued to Canterlot causing everyone to be on high alert through the entire ordeal.

Starlight Glimmer also had some valid points in her philosophy (as flawed as it may have been) that really came to my attention previously in "Magical Mystery Cure" about how Cutie Marks really do seem more like a burden, than a gift considering how they are shown to affect their owner's personality, memory, happiness, and possibly even their free will.

Film villains (assuming they count);

Sunset Shimmer for being a Satanic archetype in not just her demonic form, but with her backstory and history with Celestia, plus the fact that she knew how to emotionally manipulate everyone that could potentially interfere with her plans, plus she tried to straight-up murder Twilight with a fireball in addition to her brainwashed army from the school that would transform into their equine counterparts once going through the mirror had she succeeded-making her a far more legitimate threat than I would ever have come to expect from the film.

Aria Blaze, her grouchy, dismissive attitude is something I could identify with in regards to Sonata and her antics as I found them more annoying than funny, plus she reminded me more of the old Sunset Shimmer than the other two.
