"I don't see them," Caramel murmured, glancing about. She crept forward, and her ears pricked. She looked about, startled--she could've sworn she heard... she backed up to the other two again. "Did you two hear someone speak?" she questioned, trying not to show how spooked she was. Just a game... just a game... no, not really, but it was just some NPCs... her imagination was playing with her, making her think of giant terrifying monsters, and she unceremoniously dumped it as she worriedly waited for a reply.

Gold walked just next to Caramel, apparently not minding the whole private space shenanigans.

"Ne crains rien!!!" he said as he put an arm around her neck. "You are not in the worst position. You are not the one that could die by being sneezed on."

"And maybe we can resolve this by talking since they might have realized that we aren't a threat"

G.S added with a louder tone that resonated throughout the library.

"I'm trying to find out if there is not a secret part to the quest since they have not killed us all yet."

he murmured to Equinox who was giving him an incredulous stare.

caliber remembered about the others. "whoopsies" he said, before opening a portal to the next place lunara was talking about. "i tell ya, snow, these powers are freaking nifty..."

 

"yo! everyone! snowflake's portal is still intact! lets go!" he called out, before going through the portal, and reappearing on the other side.

 

"now...how am i gonna break it to the others...?" he asked himself. "will they even wanna fight that guy?"

Lunara says, "Yes, It seems that every time Monoshift is used it exhausts the user. But there is more to it. I can't use magic of any kind but my TK ability, while Monoshifted."

 

Lunara gets up and begins to head for the portal. "I still need to gather those materials Caliber. Can we head there next?"

Rush nodded. "That's technically what I originally agreed to come along for in the first place. I vote we go get the materials before we head back. After everything that's happened, it wouldn't make since to go back empty-hooved. I suppose if you guys want you can go ahead, but I'll be sticking with Lunara."

Caramel couldn't help but chuckle at the statement, and stopped when Goldilocks spoke loudly, clearly trying to placate any hostile NPCs. "That was dangerous," she said quietly. "They might have not known where we were. I mean, just saying." she said, nervously. "I'm not scared or anything. Psh, we can handle ourselves in a fight. Three of us, three of them, easy peasy heheh I'll shut up now." Caramel fell dead silent.

Lyriex groaned. Opening his tired eyes slowly. 

"Caliber needs at least somepony with him."

He stood up and weakly walked towards the portal, all these spells today were really aching his bones, he should probably rest the next day, he could still go out but not be able to perform those spells again for a few days.

Lunara says, "the materials I need are near by the town, so going back and then out of town would our best option. Lunara downs two mana potions to recover her mana. However she only recovers half due to using Monoshift.

 

Lunara then proceeds to head back through the portal left open by Snowflake.

Red followed her team through the portal, the last one through. "There we go, that's everyone," she said, sighing. She glanced at Lunara and Lyriex. They both looked the worse for wear.

 

"Do either of you two want to get out of the next fight? You both look exhausted." Red said to Lyriex and Lunara. "Nobody will blame you. I don't think any of us wants another dead team-mate."

Equinox looked at the two of them and got into a battle position. She thought that someone was near them, but she wasn't sure, but the other two seemed to share her sentiments. She grumbled and started pawing for the light switch, eventually finding it. The lights on the room flicked open, and three... things stood in front of her, Caramel, and G.S.

 

All of them were changelings, and in their original, bug-like form, too. However, the one that Equinox presumed to be Descent did not have a horn, and his other male accomplice was missing wings and a horn. The female(?) changeling appeared to be at the back of the room, fiddling with a bookshelf with her horn. She, in turn, appeared to be missing wings, and had a long, silky aqua mane, setting her apart from the two male drones. She flipped her head back to look at Equinox & co. with silver eyes.

 

"Descent? Gale? Do you think you can take care of those three ponies?" She turned back to the bookshelf. "It's best to dispose of them in case they are a threat..."

 

Descent and Gale nodded, and bore their teeth. Descent equipped a large axe that was made out of some strange, gooey substance, while Gale took out a small katana... then they lunged at the three intruders.

 

Equinox looked back at Caramel and G.S, nodded, and got into a position ready to defend herself.

G.S quickly took too sachets out of his bags and threw the contents at Equinox and Caramel. It was some kind of green dust. He put he last bag on himself and said:

" We are not a threat, we just want to discuss, have a friendly talk and maybe play a card game.... Wait I digress, we are here because we need to find something, and I want to play poker."

Gold took another bag and poured it again on the definitly tensed Equinox and the confused Caramel.

"And you why are you here?" he said as he finished to shower himself in the green dust.

Caramel stared blankly as Gold threw the dust clouds at her. She sneezed, and listened to Gold attempting to reason with the bug ponies.

 

"Sorry, doesn't look like talking's an option, Goldilocks!" she said cheerfully to Gold, firing her long-ready arrow, directly at the bug-thing with the sticky axe thing. Descent, she assumed. "You picked a fight with the wrong ponies, bugs!" she yelled gleefully, firing arrows rapidly at the pair of charging bug ponies.

"NON!!...." Gold exclaimed when he saw the arrows flying toward the changelings.

He instantly reached his bags and took a big page with violet on it.

"The dust works like changelings pheromones for them. Try give them an order"

He put the page around a stone and thew it at them.

"This is a confusion glyph it might help the pheromones effect"

A violet light suddenly expanded from the glyph

"You two are immune to this but I might be not, so if I act weirder than normally, knock me out"

as the violet light touched him Gold began to laugh hysterically. He stoped for two seconds an said:

"Try to restrain them and... HA HA HA HA... On top of all don't kill them...HA HA HA HI HA...."

G.S rolled to the ground with a distorted laughter.

Caramel slumped in disappointment as Gold stopped her. "Aw, come on," she complained, "I wanted to kill them." She spared a confused glance at Gold who was rolling on the floor laughing his head off and then charged at the Changelings, pulling out some rope she had been planning on going to a crafting shop into one of the towns to make bowstring and using it to tie up one of the confused NPCs. She tossed some rope at Equinox. "Quickly, let's get them while they're confused!" she cried.

Equinox nodded and advanced towards the duo of confused changelings, but the female in the background hissed and jumped in front of them before the invaders could tie up her comrades.

 

"That's quite enough." She grumbled, lighting up her horn.  "I will not have you harming my suborinates. They've gone through enough pain. I'm afraid that you will give your names immediately. ...especially the mad laughing pony."
 

Equinox backed up slowly, flicking her eyes back and forth.

Lunara says, "I only have mana exhaustion. It will wear off soon. It just means I need to be more careful with my mana. Besides I am the only one here who has the gathering mining and skinning skills needed to get the materials for the sword. I need 10 enchanted leather and 25 enchanted Mythril bars. The roughly comes out to triple that as raw materials. 30 leather scraps and 75 mythril ore. I have everything else back at the shop." Edited June 29, 2015 by Midnight_Aurora

"Oh! Cool! You can talk, then. Maybe Goldilocks had something going after all. Well, I'm Caramel!" Caramel introduced herself brightly, all charm now as she stowed her bow. "So, what in Celestia gorgeous horn are you guys?" she asked the NPCs curiously. "I mean, you look like ponies, but you also look like bugs, but you act more like yaks."

Glod laugh range was actually quite impressive going for a filly high pitched to a gravely snort of an old stallion. But it seemed always going back to a Machiavellian snicker of a mad scientists as if it was ment to be this way.

sometimes he would spoke some unintelligible words that seemed to be Equestrian, but there were also between two laughs Prench sentences that were much more constructed, the most noticeable were:

-"Je savais qu'ils étaient intelligents"

-"le dernier changeling est leur leader les phéromones ne vont pas fonctionner sur elle"

-"Gardez un œil sur les deux autres"

And lastly:

-"j'aime les juments blache"

Without even bothering to understand what he was saying, everyone in the room strangely knew that his last statement referred to his liking of a Nieghtherland desert known as "white mare" and definitely not his romantic or sexual preferences, definitely...

All the rest was basically him talking at or about his golden fish. And everyone could understand that much.

"We're changelings." The middle pony growled. "The name's Nightingale. These other two... well, their names are up to your imagination. I'm afraid I never quite caught your name-"

 

"Uh!" Equinox interrupted. "I'm... Eris. Eris the... brawler. I fight with my hooves. Oh!" Equinox pointed to Caramel. "That's Cookie Cutter, she is a thief. She was a baker but then she got trapped here. She's borrowing... er... General Gunter's bow. That guy right there-" She pointed to G.S, who then started talking in some foreign language. Equinox blinked, not understanding a word he said except the parts about a golden fish.

 

Nightingale kicked her two stallions so they got up and got into a casual position, but still ready to pounce at any time. She looked at G.S, extremely puzzled. "So... General, Gunter, was it?" She shot a suspicious glare at Equinox, who shyed away. "Would you mind explaining what you just said?"

Oh, dear Luna. Well, I'm a baker now--a thief, I mean. She almost chuckled aloud at Nightingale's suspicion. This is actually really funny.  She glanced at Gold as Nightingale addressed him. "I don't think Goldi--er, that is, General Gunter is in a condition to speak right now. But, er, if you must know--I speak Prench, I mean, obviously--he was talking about how... lovely, this place is! Lovely. And what lovely disgusting bug things you are--I mean, other than being disgusting bug things." Caramel didn't realize for a beat that she'd screwed up, then looked at Equinox and Gold pleadingly with an expression that said Fix this, please.

"We confuse you, don't we" Gold said in a wierd neighterland accent as his laugh slowly died down.

Nightingale looked at him with a stern stare and said:

-"You three feel like one of our kind"

-"And yet you still recent us. Why?"

G.S asked as he slowly got up chuckling lightly.

The changeling's eyes ignited with rage as she seemed to remember something.

"You are banned from you hive.....what did you three have done to be banned. And how could your hive afforded to ban you... Changelings normally kill thier criminals and use them as a fertiliser, unless.... Unless your hive is in its prime like the old changelings were when Discord ruled equestria.... Since its a game maybe your hive never had hard time so they don't have to recycle thier deads.... And you seem to be in bad shape, they banned you because they still don't know how to cure you.So you three fleed. But why are you here? What do you seek here?"

Gold more green dust on him and took a bite of some green goo.

He walked toward the trio, as he drew closer, Nightingale looked more intimidated.

"DO YOU SEEK REDEMPTION?... A CURE!?!" Gold voice was distorted, metallic. It seemed like a million shouts, whispers and crys melted together. Groans, and animalistic roar could be heard in the background. As well as clicks and metallic grind.

"DO YOU LOOK FOR A NEW LIFE FAR FROM THE ONES THAT BETRAYED YOU??!! TELL ME WHAT IS YOUR GOAL!!! TEL ME WHAT YOU SEARCH IN THIS LIBRARY!!"

Gold was now practically touching the terrified Nightingale. She tried to answer but no word came out of her mouth.

" THIS IS AN ORDER!!!"

Lunara looks to the others. "The area for the materials is this way. Mana exhaustion should be gone by the time we get there."

 

Lunara begins heading north from the city. She looks for a cave with blue crystals near the entrance. Once she finds what she is looking for she begins mining the mythril ore. It will take her 15 minutes to gather the needed ore.

 

Wolves are most common near the cave. She also knows there is a mechanical clockwork wolf rare spawn near here as well.

 

The clockwork wolf drops the blueprints for her adamantine mana blade. The last of the Midnight defender's set. Once she has that, she can help the front lines advance again. She doesn't like the fact that the armor looks like nightmare moon's Armor, but she can deal.

Equinox, Nightingale, and the rest of the changelings jumped and cowered at G.S.'s speech. Nightingale blinked in complete surprise; she was honestly impressed that G.S. was able to figure out so much. 

 

"I-I... impressive" Nightingale grunted. "You... got some things right. Yes, we got banned from our hives. We... did some things they didn't agree with. They thought it best to get rid of us, as fertilizer is unnecessary in this game. The things we didn't agree with the hive... well, I can't tell you. But I will tell you that my entire guild, including our leader, shares us three's sentiments." Nightingale walked towards G.S, pratically muzzle to muzzle. "Listen here, Gunter. Us three have no quarral with you, unless your guild gets in mine's way. The object in the library? While I have need for it, I am unable to get near it." She flipped her hair and gazed towards the bookshelf she was fiddling with. "I'm not good with locks. Especially picking them. I really wish I had the key, but of course, it's been shattered... so instead of this quest being puzzle in order to find the key, it's a thief's work."

 

Equinox perked up at that last statement.

 

Nightingale picked up where she left off. "My hive is a place in this game. You can meet up with the queen and talk to her, or whatever. Her hive's in the wastelands, west of here. Though, it's unlikely you'll make it their in one piece. The wastelands are a harsh mistress, and the changeling hive I come from is a warrior tribe. We fight with honor. Which is why I am unable to break into the bookshelf." Nightingale started to murmur under her breath about how they should've sent someone called 'Exitus' to do this job. "So... have fun attempting to break in... Eris, Cookie, and Gunter." She turned to Caramel. "By the way... Cookie? I doubt you're a thief."

 

Nightingale gestured for her two loons to leave, and she kicked Gunter aside and walked out of the doorway into the light. Her two cronies followed reluctantly, shooting dirty glances at the group. While outside, Nightingale lit up her horn, and the three of them disppeared in a flash of green.

 

When they were gone, Equinox grinned widely and jumped towards the bookshelf. "Okie dokie, guys. So they said that there was some kinda thing here that a thief might need to do, eh? Let's see!" She worked on it for a half a minute before dramatically pausing, turning back to the group and winking. "It was a small keyhole that needed to be manipulated with a lockpick. One of the more difficult ones, due to a few magical difficulties, but..." the bookshelf glowed and moved to the side, leading to a dark hallway. "There is absolutely no lock I can't open. I'd be a terrible thie- erm, leader if that lock could stump me."

 

She looked at G.S. and Caramel before grinning. "Shouldn't be far now." She said, motioning to the hallway.

Red followed Lunara and stood beside her, looking about as she mined.

 

"I'm sorry I can't help," she said, a little sheepish. "I don't have a pickaxe. What is the boss--" she couldn't finish the last of her words as a pack of wolves jumped out. They weren't high leveled, and Red initiated them in combat.
