Is Discord a dangerous sociopath?

He is a socially inept fellow with reality warping powers. I really, really hope they allow him to forge friendships with different ponies now, it's the best approach to expand his character and ensure he grows out of the socially inept state. Fluttershy is the only one he actually considers a true friend...and this episode kind of portrayed how that limits him and cause him to go loco because he hasn't been given the chance to experience more of friendship.

Maybe they want to bring Chrysalis back? If they do then it would be necessary to keep him with only one friend. This way basically she could just morph into FLuttershy and tell Discord to conquest Equestria. That's what the episode established. That he doesn't care about being a villain or reformed as long as Fluttershy hang out with him. I think he would be glad having both her and the freedom that Tirek gave him.

Dude you're now bordering into personal fanfic territory with that. And god no, that would totally kill his character. That's just limiting him. He deserves the opportunity to befriend other people and a shot at them accepting him so he can find what is true freedom and joy. He deserves to grow as an individual and someone people can relate to. Not get stumpt. Best freedom is when those around you accept you and you accept them, that was part of the whole moral for him in the Tirek two parter. And to an extent, befriending others was one of the points Fluttershy made in the episode. Because of this, so many people are actually fond of the CMC dynamics he has in the comics.

Sociopath? Nah. Dangerous? Well, of course. Discord is chaos incarnate, naturally unpredictable and clearly still going through this whole 'reforming process'. Which I like to be honest. I like that it isn't being rushed (nevermind how rushed "Keep Calm and Flutter on" felt, they're making it work by stretching the process out) I like that he's still a 'chaotic neutral' instead of a straight-out 'good guy', it makes him more interesting. While I think he learned a huge lesson in the season four finale and was sincere in what he said it's obvious he still has a lot of growing to do. To quote Fluttershy: "I don't think you're quite there yet."  :kindness: He's emotionally inexperienced to say the least and, in my opinion, painfully insecure. I found it rather sad that he seems to think Fluttershy is his only true friend, but of course that explains why he feels so possessive over her. Would he slip back into being a full-on villain? I don't think so. I think, especially after the finale, he truly does value friendship. Although this new episode did make me wonder how off the deep end he would go if he ever lost his friendship with Fluttershy. I smell fan fictions. :derp:

I dunno if I found out that you didn't really care about me as much as you said you did and were just manipulating me for your own benefit, especially when I needed you the most, I might behave like a dangerous sociopath too.  :umad:

Discord is afraid of losing his only friend :squee:

It's a natural reaction to be overprotective when you've so little. Specially on people with aggressive attitude, they don't have all that much friends around.

Something similar happened to me on school. This classmate was older than most of us, everybo0dy was afraid of him, except for his only friend. We got along quite well. I used to spend a lot of time with his buddy, despite being so different both of us.

It was so funny, because he wasn't able to put it straight with me, always with crazy tantrums about how we should stay away from each other. He even tried to get violent with me once, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. I shown him acceptance when almost nobody else did.

Still a great human being, neglected for his imposing appearance and rebellious attitude, due to family issues. Terrified of losing something so scarce for him.

Discord doesn't care about smooze, and the slime probably doesn't care about Discord either. Not a very consciouss being, the slime, like one of those parasites from the astral plane. Little critters, they want to hug you, shape shifting into friends and people you know and love, as you slowly start growing sleepy. Leeches of emotion.

Still, your theory is cute.

PD: I'm starting to like Celestia.

He's not a sociopath.

He is, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, a child. Developmentally speaking he handles himself like a very young kid who hasn't quite learned to share or socialize with others. He's smart, he's cunning, but severely immature.

There is a saying that goes something to the effect of there is nothing more terrifying than a child with a gun, because they don't fully understand what it is they are holding.

Same applies with Discord; he's extremely powerful, but he really doesn't understand how his powers would affect the ponies around him. He assumed fluttershy would just be completely fine with having Tuesday tea after he threw her friend out of the dimension, and when he was shown what he was doing was wrong he stopped immediately.

He's dangerous sure, just as a young child with a gun is dangerous, but he in no way meets the criteria of a Sociopath

I'd like to say yes, he is a Sociopath, but he doesn't really seem "Sociopath-like" in the show, so maybe not.....?  XD

This is a signature,

and that was a post...

Is Discord a sociopath? Likely yes, but so are Luna and Sunset Shimmer. It's just that he has a harder time not committing insensible action, due to his nature, but I don't think he really intends evil, he just has to learn to have better self-control.

I find it highly ironic and hypocritical that a lot of the same Luna and Shimmer fans will defend and forgive those 2, yet when it comes to Discord, its perfectly fine to take a dump on him and condemn him as "irredeemable" and "evil."

Let's not forget Luna herself is no pushover. She forced Celestia to banish her to the moon for 1000 years. People need to back off Discord and chill out. He's not actually a villain anymore. Get over it.

It was Fluttershy that psychologically conditioned Discord to accept her not being his friend would make him miserable and it backfired.
