Disney has a long history of buying out major companies and brands haphazordly. From DiC, to The Muppets, to Fox Family, to ABC, to Miramax, and more recently, Marvel and Lucasfilm. Hell, they even own Maker Studios. With all these brands under their belt, who's Disney going to acquire next? I'm going to make a wild prediction and say Funimation is next on the House of Mouse's shopping list.

If Disney ever gets their grimy little hands on Hasbro, I'll...well, I can't really do anything, I suppose -- but I would be so ticked! lol I really hope not...But if I had to guess, I could definitely see Disney taking over funimation.

I'm going to make a wild prediction and say Funimation is next on the House of Mouse's hitlist. 

 

You say "hitlist" like Disney is some evil thing. If Disney didn't buy Marvel, we may not have had the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If they didn't buy Lucasfilm, all of the money they paid George Lucas with went to charity by the way, we wouldn't have a continuation of the film saga.

 

Predictions wise I'm not really sure, probably something minor like a small tv company. Maybe Netflix or something.

Why? It's not like they would change anything in the show or get in the way of fan productions anymore than Hasbro has. In fact, Disney might even be less punitive with things like Button Mash or Derpy.

You know, if the 80's cyberpunk genre were to come to pass and the world or a large chunk of it was to be ruled by a megacorporation, I can think of far worse companies to live in than Disney.

Awww yeah that movie was terrible! (Although the sequel was somewhat closer to the show.)

 

And Saban bought back Power Rangers from Disney. While I'll be the first to defend Disney, it's clear that Power Rangers was far from their care as far as funding and quality goes.

I'm just waiting for them to purchase Paramount and NBC's interest in Star Trek, as well as rights to the DC Comics studios.

 

Seriously though, are there any other legitimate options for them? They're pretty well set with Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so not sure if there is anything else that could contribute (aside from Trek and DC ).

Neither do I. How would that even be proposed? How would it be implemented? Put all of their assets on the market then buy it back up? Why? What would that accomplish aside from loosing them millions of dollars?

Actually, with that being said, if they tried to purchase those, Marvel would probably open negotiations to leave the company. If there's one thing that could kill both of their last vestiges of profit, it's DC and Marvel being under the same banner.

 

It's happened before with crossovers, but the two companies being merged as one would mean both would be abandoned by their respective purists. Which make up a LARGE portion of their customer basis.

Disney has a lot of money, so I'm sure they can buy anything they wanted. I'm sure they can even buy an entire continent!
I love Disney, so I don't really mind them buying anything out since they have yet to disappoint me with anything they touched. haha
Funimation? Not sure about that. As far as I know, Funimation is usually anime, right? I doubt Disney would go for something way out of their league, especially if a majority of it isn't family friendly at most.

That doesn't make any sense. How can one buy air? You can buy airspace in the same way one buys land, but it's not the same thing as buying what we breathe. Besides, they're an entertainment company, why would they buy something like breathable air?
