Biologically male, leans a bit more towards female. 1) How did you become a Brony? - Short, clean version: Saw pony names on the Epic Games forums, got curious, and searched about. Slightly less clean version: the search may have accidentally gotten a bit more risque than initially planned, but it also led me to actually watching the show. 2) How long have you been a Brony? - Too goddamn long. Since like, 2012 I think. Should have passed the 3 year mark by now iirc. Why am I still here. >.> 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? - its a bit of fresh air from the trash on tv nowadays. Im also just really into cartoons in general. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? - Derpy es waifu. She captured my heart for some reason and never let go. More than likely from all the crap that went down over her and her og voice. Ive two forums I visit and a number of groups on skype im in. I also do drawing a little bit as another hobby. Both ive done something with ponies in. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? - Often. Its nothing new so it doesnt affect me at all. Its rather entertaining than anything. 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? - Yes. People = Shit and will find any reason to put others down even if they've nothing to do with the one they are attacking at all. Also, life is too short to worry about others and what they think on you. Many thing contributed to it but let's just say I have watched two fanmade videos(Smile HD, Cupcakes HD) and made me curious. 2) How long have you been a Brony? About 5 months, if i mistake not. 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? The first thing was the voice actors. When I have tried to watch in my own language I thought that the show is accused by rights. After that I gave it an other chance now in English. Was complete success. The songs are the second reason why I like it. This Day Aria is my favorite, it's just very well done. And the last thing is the morale. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Fluttershy, cuz her character was one of the reasons I didn't give up watching the show at S1. I just like that shy personalitly. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? I don't really know. I like this forum but I don't really know much about the other sites. People are nice here and I like reading their ideas and thoughts. Age: 23 Gender: Male 1) After watching a retrospective of the franchise and the newest series, i was intrigued enough to give it a shot. So, next time I had a day off, I loaded up the first episode on Youtube and the rest is history. 2) About 3 1/2 years 3) A lot of things: the wide variety of likeable characters, the art style, the great comedy and even the occasional word-building you don't see in too many shows like this. But the biggest reason has to be just how fun it is to watch. 4) Fluttershy is my favorite of the main characters because she's very much like me in a lot of ways. I also have a certain soft spot for Princess Celestia. 5) I love the sheer amount of creativity, whether it be artwork, fanfiction, full blown animations or whatever else. 6) Outside of this site and a few of my friends, not really. 7) I've drawn a few of my original ponies and written a few fanfics, but nothing really big. 8) I've been mocked by my family a few times, but I don't really try to advertise that I like the show in public (outside of where pony shirts every so often) 9) I like to think that watching this show has made me a more outgoing person than I was before, and helped me in dealing with a few of my insecurities. 10) I can't really think of anything in particular...sorry. 1 MLPForums "Self-Proclaimed" Kamen Rider NutNow, count up your sins!I do Traditional commissions, by the way! Besides the humor and the storyline, I love the character development. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Number one would be Twilight Sparkle. Mainly because i can relate to her struggle, and im a big book nerd. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? Just being a part of tight-knit community. Having others who share a common interest and can talk to level headed individuals about pretty much anything. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? I do, Its mainly here on the forums or on skype groups. Hello Allisonjoy! I've actually considered going to that university when I was applying for college. I heard the education is great there! Age: 18 Gender: Female 1) I saw a friend of mine drawing ponies. I asked where the characters were from and she said MLP: FiM. I thought it was strange and forgot about it. Later on, I was on You Tube and came across an episode of MLP:FiM. I decided 'why not?' and checked it out. Ever since then I was hooked. 2) Since spring 2012, so about 3 years. 3) I like the innocence of the show. Nowadays it seems like there are so many shows with negative aspects. So when I came across the show, I was estatic that there is a show I can watch that has good morals and teachings. Also, the worldbuilding and fantasy elements were also what drew me in. 4) Princess Luna is my favorite character. This pony has a sad backstory: she was ignored by her sister and over time she grew bitter towards everyone. She grew so angry she turned into a dark version of herself (Nightmare Moon). I can relate to her because I know how it feels to be ignored and rejected by people. I had the same feelings as Luna: bitterness and hatred. Plus, her aesthetics are beautiful and I love her personality. 5) I love how I can discuss the show with people who have the same passion. This community is the reason why I enjoy being a Brony. Everyone here is kind and helpful; I couldn't ask for a better group of people. 6) I interact with Bronies via this site. This is the only place where I talk with Bronies. I talk to them though discussion threads and PM's (personal message). 7) I occasionally create drawings just for fun, however I don't share it with others. That's it really. 8) Thankfully no. My whole family is perfectly okay with it. None of my friends know because they never mentioned the show. I will never bring up MLP unless someone asks about it. 9) I learned that target demographics don't really matter. To me, it's okay to like a cartoon if you're an adult as long as it doesn't completely interfere with your life. Liking something that doesn't fit the social norm is not a bad thing; it just shows you are a unique individual. 10) I want people to realize that most Bronies aren't creeps who sit in their parent's basement all day. We all have lives, hopes, and dreams. Liking a cartoon doesn't make us bad people; it's what we like. There's nothing more to it. I hope you have a great time on these forums! My brother told me about someone he knew who collected the figurines and I thought it was silly, then I saw him watching it and he told me to watch it. If I remember correctly, it was in April 2012 (I remember because it was only a short while after A Canterlot Wedding came out) making me a brony for 3 years and 2 months 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? I think what makes it stand out above other kids shows and animated TV shows in general is the character development. I mean, see how far somepony like Fluttershy has come. Also Twilight for that matter. Also, the amazing animation ^^ 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Rainbow Dash: I can relate with her personality a lot, and also, I think the depth of her character is really developed well. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? Two reasons: 1. I love being able to harmlessly challenge the social norm and stand out against people who think it is wrong to like something different to what I technically should like. 2. Making new friends and being in a creative and friendly community such as this one. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? Seeing as I don't know many bronies in real life, I thought I would join this site to talk to others about MLP. So, really pretty much only here. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? I am in the process of thinking of ideas for a piano composition. I'm not sure what character to base it on though. I was thinking Luna, but that's been done too many times for my composition to stand out. I may go with Discord and throw in some odd chords and some disharmonies and an odd time signature, to represent his chaos. Oh, and I also made a mini PMV on Adobe After Effects. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? A couple of times at school. People have grown more accepting over time though. There will always be those ones though... 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? After I became I brony, I actually did find myself being inspired to create [music] and also I found I have become more accepting. I don't even know why, it's just like seeing a near perfect world has made me want to change the one I am living in for the better. ^^ 10) What is one thing you wish the world knew about Bronies? That we are way more creative and diverse than what we may seem like. And also the fact that we're not all cloppers. Most everyone's nice, haven't met anyone mean yet. I kept seeing memes about the show for months and eventually decided to watch it. 2) How long have you been a Brony? Since February 2012. 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? Mainly the lore. Equestria is such a complex setting with so many different regions and thousands of years of history. I also love the character interaction and the lessons that even older people can apply. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Rainbow Dash. Her spunk and coloration are adorable, but I find her relatable because she is so competitive and pushes herself to the max. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? I love the fact that people from the ages of five to ninety-five are fans of the show. I think it brings people around the world together. Bronies have a unity that is distinct from any other because we are taught, as the fandom motto says, to "love and tolerate." 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? I chat on this forum and watch youtube videos. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? I do a lot of personal drawings and recordings. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? People have laughed at me for it because I am known as more of a tomboy and the see it as a girly show, but I haven't had too much of a hard time with it. 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? It's okay to be different. When you start standing out, you'll find a community of others who have the same interests, and the people who ridiculed you won't seem so big. 10) What is one thing you wish the world knew about Bronies? For female teen Bronies, it would have to be that we aren't acting childish by saying we like ponies. We just prefer ponies to the vampires and werewolves the other girls are indulging in. I was seeing mlp all over the place, and people seemed to like it, so I decided to give it a chance. I watched the first few episodes, and since I liked it, I've stuck with it. The fact that it was so popular made me more confident about watching it. 2) How long have you been a Brony? Since I was fifteen. I think I started watching when season 2 began? 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? The characterization and story. I like how it has some form of continuity about it, unlike a lot or cartoons. It actually has a story, and follows it well. The problems the characters face are pretty realistic, too. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? It used to be Fluttershy, but I think it's Applejack now. I can relate to her, especially her honesty, which seems to be a pretty rare trait. I also admire her hard-working nature and tactfulness, as well as her skepticism. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? This community is actually pretty friendly! I really like meeting the other people who share this interest with me, and listening to their views on the characters and such. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? I mainly interact with them here, on the forums, but occasionally one of my customers (I'm a cashier at a grocery store) will notice my Rainbow Dash earrings (or something) and strike up a conversation, starting with a nervous "I like your earrings". When i tell these people that i like the show, t's really cool seeing them get excited over something they can't normally talk to strangers about. It's nice. It feels like they trust me, and like I'm making a friend instantly because they know I won't judge them, and I'm as excited about this as they are. it's amazing, really. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? Yes! I am definitely the type to draw ponies all over the place. My own characters, canon characters, other people's fan characters...they're fun to draw, and their designs have a nice variety to them. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? Not quite, no. I've heard people scoff at the idea, but they never really say "you shouldn't like it". A more common thing would be "Okay, you can like it, but its still dumb and I won't watch it." I'm sure my mom would be a little more skeptical if my dad didn't watch the show with me sometimes. Or maybe that'd make her less skeptical. Hmmm... Anyways, things like this have never really been a problem for me, since I've fearlessly liked "childish" things like Pokémon and such before mlp came along. 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? Not really, no. I guess it's nice to see proof that people aren't afraid to like what they like, and to open their minds...but that isn';t always the case with the fans. 10) What is one thing you wish the world knew about Bronies? Okay, number one, we're not all boys. Not even close. Number two, the percentage of perverts in this fandom is actually a lot lower than you might think. EVERY FANDOM is full of the occasional weirdo, no exceptions. Number three, we aren't all the same, and we all function of different levels of interest in the show. Some are obsessive, some are not, etc. Number four: Take us seriously. We're capable of a lot. This fandom has raised money for charities, created amazing art, music, animations, stories, and we've helped a lot of people within our community. Don't sell us short. 1 Need help with your OC? I saw the show on TV, got hooked up, learned about the growing fandom, and decided to join it. 2) How long have you been a Brony? 4 years and counting. 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? The overall show is really pleasant and enjoyable to watch. The characters are well done, the stories well told, but what really draws me in is how they could convey the sometimes cliché "lessons" through these interesting stories. It is true that for a while I've forgotten some of these means to love, and I suppose the world needs a reminder from time to time as well. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Fluttershy. I was bullied a lot in the past and ultimately had to resort to violence for it to stop. To this day I still wondered whether I did the right thing, and whether it was truly necessary. It's funny how then I was inspired by a yellow pink mane pegasus instead of some manly man telling me that I did the right thing. I really admire her for one main and appropriate reason, her kindness. She can love and forgive despite some gave her a really bad time; I still have a long way to go. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? We have the strength to love a show despite its possible intention for young female audience and despite whatever stereotypical insults some people throw at us. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? I know a couple of brony friends in school. They are good men, friendly as well. Of course, I know quite a few brony friends online as well, mainly through this forum. I'm planning on going to bronycon for the first time this year and it will be quite an experience. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? I co-founded an online peer support organization with my online brony friends after an 11 year old brony attempted suicide in the US due to persistant bullying. I have also been trying my hands on multiple things, writing, art, and now considering music. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? Yes, not really in real life because here in China people prefer to mind their own businesses. However, on the Internet, people do go ham. While I am generally not very reactive to these snarky comments because I simply do not find them worthing my time and effort, I could understand why some Bronies get really emotional. Some of the insults sure are quite hurtful. 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." Although I would not call myself a total optimist, I still believe that most people have conscience and the ability to love instead of hate. Perhaps it could be influences from the show, nonetheless I have become more friendly, kind, and perhaps more mature. On the darker side of the leaf, I acknowledge that some will be persistent to spread more Hatred. I always have this complicated emotion toward violence, but some day, if these individuals resort to violent extremism, I do what is necessary. 10) What is one thing you wish the world knew about Bronies? It has yet to be scientifically proven that watching a cartoon show about pastel colored ponies could change one's sexual orientation. alpinefroggy 451 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 18, male 1) always curious about FIM from friends and the existence of ponies on the Internet. I knew what bronies were and we're always curious as to who they were but never made a move. FIM was sort of on my radar of things to try and eventuallymy curiosity got to me and I downloaded the first 4 seasons and tried. I didn't know what to expect but ended up really enjoying the show to my surprise and quickly identified a new found enjoyment and identified as brony 2) since December of 2014. 5-6 months at this point 3) the show isn't some groundbreaking amazing masterpiece of cartoon animation. It is however a great show that beats out a lot of what is on the tv right now. The writing, the tones at times, the well developed characters. More depth than almost any cartoon I have seen ever before under the guise of pink pastel ponies that I as a grown male can't help but feel are cute and I can identify with. I mean, I as 18 and male and in high school can identify with twilight sparke? Bravo writers bravo. There is a reason why this show attracts this kind of audience (and me) and this is my reasoning behind it 4) twilight sparkle. I identify the most with her because she is very much like me. I am socially awkward and have very few friends. I have always been wrapped in my own pursuits just like she was in the first two episodes. Although she as a character has changed a ton as she has succeeded in creating a social life where I haven't she still is my favorite character. 5) I can't really say at this point. I only know like one other person that still is current with the show and as I am a relatively new brony myself who doesn't have a great number of friends I haven't met many myself. I do however hope to be able to delve into the fandom of bronies. As a brony I have the potential to meet other people I can get to know who have something similar they love. I also enjoy being able to participate, even if it's just me being a lurker and viewer of what this fandom creates. 6) I currently do not interact with any bronies except via the Internet. 7) I do not create things about the show but I do wish to maybe do so in the future 8) on the Internet, very much so. But in real life, I haven't been open about it very much so it's not really a problem but people do know. I am not exactly in an environment where it would be a problem though which is great. People are openly gay at my school they have openly gay relationships and there's practically no racism. It's a very nice place to be and I am privileged because of it. 9) that people dislike that which they do not understand. It's common on the Internet to get flack for no real reason. People don't understand bronies aren't just some dysfunctional and gay males who don't understand what they are doing. It's annoying but at least I can gain wisdom to not judge a book by its cover. I am socially awkward but I am a male like any other, except for the fact that I like my little pony so it gives me perspective that a lot of Internet users don't seem to have. 10) we are different but not different take a walk in our shoes before you dismiss us as generalizations. Then went to mlbrony.com and saw that this show had a dedicated fanbase, and that there had ot be somethign to thsi show for that to happen. 2) How long have you been a Brony? 3 years. 4) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? It's different than what's on TV. It's true escapism. We are shown a creative world free from problems & flaws of our world. We don't have to be reminded of the daily BS when we watch MLP. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Applejack. She's the most grounded, mature & rational of the bunch, as well as being dependable, but she's also stubborn and proud to a fault, which I can relate to. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? I get a sense of reclaiming my childhood from the cold adult world and the chains of my teenage past. I regain the freedom to be an imaginative kid again and be proud of it. I'm part of a kind hearted (usually), creative, passionate community. And I've become a better person from learning the shows values, at least I'd like to think so. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? Used to. Not as much now. Live in a small town.Few bronies I knew moved away. Unless you count my bro. He's one too. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? Not really. I'd like to say our accepting nature, but I'd think the main thing that would draw people in would be our fandoms creative passion. Hello there, Allison! Age: 18 Gender: Female 1.) I became a brony after watching a trailer of the Dark Knight Rises that was ponified. I liked it and decided to check out the show. 2.) I've been a brony since June 2011. c: 3.) I love the characters and their dynamics. 4.) Pinkie Pie is my favorite! She's just a bundle of fun and she's a bit like me. Also, who doesn't love a character that can break the fourth wall? 5.) I love being in the community, mainly. 6.) Yep! I interact with them here~ 7.) Uh, I draw pieces of (bad) fanart and I wrote a fanfiction. I love the show and wish I could contribute more. 8.) Nope! Honestly, it's different when you're a female. If you're a girl who likes the show, you might get a few: "Aren't you a little too old?" questions, but no one really mocks you for it. It's a bit of a shame that males, on the other hand, get teased for it. 9.) It's taught me that shows/toys/etc shouldn't be 'gendered'. 10.) There's this stereotype that a brony is an overweight individual with a shaggy neckbeard and a fedora. I wish we weren't all grouped together and seen as this 'awful thing'. Technically since the Weird Al episode aired, but I've been watching since Bridle Gossip 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? How cute and innocent it is. Makes me feel like a kid again, even for a little while. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? Twilight Sparkle because she's someone I can relate to. When I was younger I didn't care much for friendship-- I had Neopets-- but as I grew up I felt really lonely. I got depression and to sum it up bluntly, it really sucked. I was encouraged to make friends by my family, and with their help I've made plenty, and I've gotten pretty good at making new ones on my own! 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? The community. Although we can seem spoiled with the content fans churn out daily-- and rightfully so. It's kinda overwhelming-- people are typically very polite and rational, even in heated conversations. Most of the time. This is the internet after all. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? Pretty much just on the forums, and sometimes Deviantart. My real-world friends aren't fans, and there aren't many people shouting out their love for a little pastel pony show walking around. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? Decent drawings, I guess. They aren't that bad, but they're nothing great. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? Saw the Good Mythical Morning Episode about bronies, and thought to myself, "WHY AM I NOT WATCHING THIS?!" 2) How long have you been a Brony? A little over a year. 3) What do you most like about the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? The fact they are so dynamic while remaining so adorable. They are truly lovable characters with amazingly deep personalities. A very wise man once said, "The amount of room for depth and speculation for these characters is limitless, once you decide to put forth an actual effort into understanding them a little bit." And that man's name was @ghostfacekiller39. 4) Who is your favorite character on the show and why? That's like asking a parent which of their children they love the most. I can't pick! I relate to Twilight a lot because I'm a nerd, I relate to Fluttershy because I'm very shy and lack confidence, I relate to Rainbow because I'm athletic, and I relate to Rarity because I'm huge into fashion. I love Pinkie because I wish I could be more like her, and I wish the world could be more like it is through her eyes. I love Applejack because....because....I don't know. I can't think of a good, specific reason. Do I need one? I just love her, okay? I guess I'll pick Twi for my actual favorite, by a 1% margin. 5) What do you most love about being a Brony? Interacting with all these great folks here, and helping to change the world a tiny bit in my own small way. 6) Do you interact with other Bronies, if so where/how? Irl? No. I don't know any, and I'm pretty isolated irl. I spend a lot of time on this forum, though. 7) Do you create things based off of the show, such as art, videos, music, etc.? Oh yeah. I make and sell mlp art on Redbubble. Here's a couple examples of my work. 8) Have you ever experienced people putting you down because you are a Brony? Not me personally, no. But again, I don't get out much. From what I've heard, most people are pretty accepting of bronies, or don't care. As always, the haters get the attention because they have the loudest voice. 9) Has being a Brony taught you something about life or people? It's given me the confidence to dress the way I want, which was a big deal for me. It has made me feel better about myself, and after meeting and spending so much time with everyone here, it has given me a much needed bit of hope in humanity. This community is the most tolerant, accepting, and non-judgemental public group that I've ever seen. 10) What is one thing you wish the world knew about Bronies? That bronies are not one kind of person. Being a brony just means you like the show. There is literally not one more piece of information that one can conclude about a brony than that. Age: 22 Gender: male 1. I became a brony from my friends telling me to watch the show. After being told to watch the show I decided to give it a chance. I watched all three seasons that were out at the time in a marathon watch and I instantly fell in love with the show. 2. 2 years 3. I like the characters from the main characters and the background characters and the lessons that are learned and how much they grow and develop as characters from each lesson that's learned. 4. My favorite character from the show is Twilight because she and I have some similarities and I feel like I could relate to her in some ways. 5. The community.
