The Coffee Pony

When you heard that a new season for a show comes where you played a role for a long time you'll become enthusiastic to be casted again, but someone else got the role and you'll get disillusioned.

To be honest, I would be upset too if I'm not asked again for a role I played for a long time.

But there is a thing called "professionalism" when you're a professional. Throwing a tantrum and asking fans to boycott something and basically damn the chances of a NEW talent is unprofessional, distasteful and arrogant. Sorry, but Ms. Strong doesn't get a pass from me. What she did was more or less poison the well for these new talents who aren't even being given a CHANCE by some fans now because of her. Instead of discussing it directly with CN to find a reason for her replacement and trying to handle it in private and wishing the new cast good luck, she decided to throw a tantrum on Twitter like a common teenage girl.

This is not a matter of injustice, it's a matter of: IT'S A JOB. This is a JOB. People need to recognize that being casted is being hired for a job. When you don't get a job, you don't go online and tell people to freakin' boycott the company because they didn't hire you and instead hired someone else. That's unprofessional and childish.

I understand how Tara Strong and the other voice actors feel. It most likely would hurt their feelings because they were the original voice cast. I'd be a little offended or upset too if I had something that I worked very hard on and I just got sort of "replaced" after a few years, and I wasn't even asked or told about it.

Now I'll say good like to the new voice actors, but I still feel bad for Tara and the others. But good luck Tom Kenny, I suppose. At least he got to keep his role?

This kind of disappoints me too, because I loved the PPG when I was little. Some re-boots just shouldn't be made in my opinion.

I honestly was not expecting a reboot of the powerpuff girls honestly. I am quite surprised to see these news. But hey, I know that many people right now are not really okay with it, but we can't judge it without seeing it yet...

The real culprit behind the mess is CN. They should've contacted the original cast for the new series in the first place, not hiring new voice actor without their knowledge.

And...

I have NO ILL FEELINGS 4 the actresses in the new #ppg, We were just beyond hurt we were NEVER asked..every role I breathe life into I love

Also, I didn't read attack messages from her to the new voice actress of Bubbles.

Perhaps CN and Tara Strong had some OTHER kind of fallout that caused them not to want to work with her again?

Remember Stuart Snyder? He was known for torpedoing tons of ideas from producers like Faust, McCracken etc. and decided to alienate the viewers. I get the feeling he's still active behind the curtains.

Tell me... If you're a starting quarterback like Peyton Manning, in your early age of 26, and you have done good as a quarterback for 4 straight years, and you still have a good future ahead with your high-paying job, your teammates respect, and reknown as a elite. Would you want the team to release you? And give your starting job to a rookie that hasn't had any scouting or experience with your former teammates whatsoever? >_>

Tara is exactly in that situation. Her voice has been consistent and very well over the years. Yet, CN seemingly ignores her. That is a little unsettling, both for her and her fans. "Professionalism" isn't a concern when loyalty is. -_-

PPG was a classic T.V. show. I loved it, but the more "comedy" that CN shoves in, the more that the former fans get offended, and that leads to a lower teenage-adult fan base. They pretty much flipped off the fans of Teen Titans with TTG! :eww:

Trust me, I'll give them a chance, but it won't feel the same without Craig, Tara, and the others. :(

How do you know they're going to insert more "comedy". Again the executive producer has a very good history (especially with comedy shows). He could be saving it from CN's influence. All we've seen from this is the designs for the powerpuff girls themselves (and they're almost exactly the same) and one brief 2 second clip which just involves what I think is Blossom yelling "come on girls". Again please wait till it actually airs and people can make informed opinions on it.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

@ @chirox the pony Yeah, I do admit that the design has got it's ups and downs when it comes to the girls. Some of it is off though.

Indeed, CN's influence has ruined most of it's shows.

Excuse me? Is that a insult or a statement, because people can take that as an insult chirox. >_>

I assume you're talking about the informed opinion thing. That was more intended as a statement although I can see why it came off as more aggressive then how I wrote it. And the CGI thing was a one off (I can't talk about the actual special because I never watched it (likely because of those designs)).

Ok its obvious you guys haven't see the picture of the new one so here it is

From the looks of it, it seems to be faithful to the show and not going the Baby Titans route or going to to that awful CGI route. Agian  I am hopeful for this reboot because I'm seeing it as new iteration of the show like the TMNT cartoons.

When's the last time a quarterback who got traded to another team went online and trash talked his team? Rarely. Know why? It's unprofessional. It doesn't matter, professionalism is still important, because whether you like it or not, CN is writing her a paycheck. They control the job. You can't pressure them into giving you a paycheck, it's unprofessional and loyalty does not mean crap then. It's a job, it's not a "for fun" thing, and you gotta treat it like a job.

Why did they "need" to though? It's THEIR show, they own it. Tara Strong and them don't own it. They don't need to contact anyone. Would it be seen as a good PR move? Sure. However Tara's reaction is enough of a bad PR move on her part that it more or less negates it. She did issue a bullcrappy "Oh I didn't mean any harm" after the fact, but she still insisted that she was the "only" voice for the character and all that jazz. She only apologized to the new cast AFTER people called out the fact that she was being a crybaby over it.

Honestly this made me lose a LOT of respect for Tara Strong. I get it, she was hurt that she wasn't called, but she reacted like a child does. It's not professional, and it's basically whining that CN didn't want to give her a paycheck. Boo hoo. Lemme call up jobs that didn't hire me and cry about lack of a paycheck that I did not get and I'm not entitled to. It must be nice to live above the rest of us who have to treat our jobs with respect and can't just go online and get other people to demand a company hire us over someone else.

Did you guys also know that there's an anime version of the series? I doubt if it was ever aired in the west.

You dodged my question… How about this then… You have a profile here, correct? Then a moderator brings in a young minor claiming that he/she is better suited to use your profile, and forcefully taking your account and editing it to where you can't login to it anymore. How would you react? (Cause I'd be pretty upset.)  >_>

Actually, it's Craig's show, whatever Craig says goes within that franchise.

Wow… Losing respect for an actress who was passionate about her job, and she was never demanding. It would have been nice to see her back in her starting role from the original cartoon. Boo hoo, indeed. I also live in an environment where we are somewhat paycheck to paycheck.  -_-

That scenario isn't even comparable. My profile is not a job. Tara Strong voiced Bubbles as a job years ago. If you are running a job and someone else can do the job better and cheaper, you hire them.

Actually, it's Craig's show, whatever Craig says goes within that franchise.

Actually no it's not. :P

Cartoon Network owns the show, Craig actually has no say over what they do with it. It's the same way how Lauren Faust doesn't own MLP and Hasbro can do what they want despite her not agreeing with it. That's how TV works, my friend. You make a show for a network, you are making it for them to own.

Wow… Losing respect for an actress who was passionate about her job, and she was never demanding. It would have been nice to see her back in her starting role from the original cartoon. Boo hoo, indeed. I also live in an environment where we are somewhat paycheck to paycheck.

There is a difference between passion and being a crybaby. Tara Strong LITERALLY tried to get people to demand Cartoon Network hire her and boycott the show. That's not being passionate about the show, she is DIRECTLY inhibiting the show. She is making it now so that the show will do poorer because she purposely was trying to sabotage it. When it didn't work, she 180'ed and went "oh sorry, I didn't mean anything bad" after the damage was done.

It would have been nice to see her return, but guess what: they hired someone else. Why would they need to call her? They know what her voice sounds like, they hired her before. Why would they need her to audition? They have her old work to compare it to, and maybe they LEGITIMATELY felt these new people sounded better. Did anyone consider that? When you hire someone else that sounds better do you expect them to call the old VAs to say "yeah sorry we hired someone we felt was better." Maybe CN was trying to be professional?

Do you not realize how pathetic and entitled what Tara did was? It's basically going "Oh this job didn't rehire me. Everyone they suck. Boycott them." It's assuming that these new voices are not better than her at the role. It's just arrogantly assuming that her voice HAS to be the only voice and that she needs to be offered the job before anyone else is allowed to take it. It must be nice to be able to EXPECT job offers and interviews. I certainly can't remember the last time a job didn't call me back from an application and I DEMANDED they call me back and got the job. It's so freakin' entitled that it's not even funny. It's awful that people support that. She is more or less complaining that a company didn't hire her and expecting those of us who don't have the privilege to DEMAND jobs and shame entire companies for not hiring us to feel sorry for her.

I don't feel sorry for her. She's an entitled child. Boo hoo, Tara you didn't get the role. Someone else was cheaper/better/easier to work with or a combination of any of the three, so you weren't called. Get over it. There's a thing called professionalism when you are not given a job, and part of it is not going on Twitter and bitching about it. So yes, I do not respect her actions, I feel they are childish and pathetic and it's more pathetic that people are trying to justify them as her being "passionate". If I didn't get a job at Burger King and went online and told people that Burger King should have hired me and that they made the wrong choice and how we should boycott Burger King, then I would be laughed into oblivion. But it's okay for Tara Strong to do it.

What's more shameful if I recall she deleted tweets saying to boycott the show when she was called out on it, so not only is she being a child about it, she is pretending she didn't.

Here is what the professional move would have been:

  • Contact CN privately and find out what's going on instead of making a public fiasco before even contacting them.
  • Wish the new voice actresses well FIRST and tell fans to give them a chance instead of going on about how it hurts you and how you would have done it better and then going "oh but I wish them well". That's basically like walking into the room, leaving a big smelly fart and then leaving.

I know some of you are not going to watch it and thats fine I understand, but please dont this thread into a flame war. Anway I do something worth of noting, its small clip of the show sure, but its footage none of less. So here it is :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYBx3yHu3ag

All we get from that is that princess is confirmed to return and that the animation is good. I think Blossom's might be slightly higher pitched then last time.

Poor sweet Tara Strong, why do they have to do this to her?

I still think CN's old CEO has something to do with that. He's responsible for the decline of CN and blamed other people ( most of them producers and voice actors) for it.
