OK, so, Sports is not popular on youtube because more people want to watch it live than youtube. But why are the beatles not very popular? The most popular Beatles video only has 50,000,000 views, and Gangnam style has 2 Billion, why is this? Aren't the beatles the most famous band in the world?

Because, I think that most people who use internet more are younger than those who lived in the beatles age, and YouTube is still  relatively new platform if you look at the beatles, so newer songs have better possibility off success since, the audience wants to hear something new, usually and old songs often tend to 'die off' so to speak =)

50,000,000 isn't a lot compared to 2 billion, but it's still a very large number. Anyway, one factor into why they don't have so much popularity now is because trends come and go all the time. Sure, their most-viewed video doesn't have so much compared to a PSY music video, but it still has an audience; it's just not massive.

Just because an artist isn't "popular" on YouTube doesn't mean they are not awesome. Young viewers and bangwagoners tend to follow whatever trend is rising and falling... I saw the other day on YouTube about some video about a deer that was going viral on Facebook or some nonsense. This girl they interviewed said she only watched the video because all of her friends watched it xD. Here I am a year later finding about this silly topic that zoomed over my head.

The Beatles' music is pretty shitty and the fact that the band has an abusive member (I believe it was John Lennon) isn't helping.

 

Plus Youtube is for newer music as time goes on, not The Beatles.

I wouldn't say it's disrespectful to your country's heritage, or disrespectful to our grandparent's culture, it's just that the times move on. I wouldn't even say it's disrespectful to the artist, a lot of kids probably don't know who he is. There were people during the time that the Beatles were popular that were insulting the bands that came before, we just don't see it because it wasn't as permanent as something posted on the internet is.

 

I still find it sad though.

Well the video channel that video is on is not official or by their label. In fact The Beatles youtube channel isn't official either, it generated by youtube themselves. I'm sure some videos do get taken down while others do not. Keep in mind that The Beatles only got on Itunes in the last couple of years as they were one of the last digital holdouts. It's not their generation nor their inclination for a youtube presence. I think they literally do not have any official presence on that site and all the videos there are "bootlegs / unofficial uploads"

If you like the Beatles then enjoy them to your hearts content whose stopping you?

 

I personally dislike the Beatles, but the sort of music I like hasn’t got a billion views or something either etc. But I like it and enjoy it, and it’s my tastes and that’s all that matters.

 

Don’t worry about what’s popular, just enjoy what you enjoy and concentrate on that, as opposed to worrying over trivial stuff like how many YouTube views it has.

You could say The Godfather is a shit movie. 

You could say the Mona Lisa is a shit painting. 

You could say King Lear is a shit book.

You could say Roots was a shit tv show

you could  say The Beatles are shit..... as you did

 

It wouldn't make you knowledgeable about what you are talking about or even sound "Smart". It would make you sound like a 20 year old kid on the internet who honestly doesn't know better (and yes a bit ignorant and trollish). 

 

If makes you feel better I don't like Pet Sounds or The Beach Boys music, because it frankly does nothing for me and I find it a bit boring and old. I don't like Animal Collective as it sounds like weird for weirdness sake. I haven't tried Kanye West because I don't like how the guy acts in public. But mostly that's my fault for just not willing to give them a shot or a serious listen. It's fine to not like something.... but to take pride that you don't like something that's already in classic status and state so assuredly on a forum, well that's just a bit sad even if you are entitled to it.

First of all, I see what you did there.

 

Second, I don't see how I was taking pride in it. I merely stated an opinion, not fact. Was it harsh? Oh, undoubtedly so. But, that's what I honestly think of the music. I don't like it. Though, I suppose it would have looked better if I worded it more politely. Oh well, water under the bridge and all that.
