I swear, ever since they ki-boshed the HUB network, their scheduling blows chunks. Whomever is thier program director is, they need to be fired... from a canon. Im only looking forward to 2 episodes*the Rarity and Luna ones* and now im going to have to wait till the end of the year. DHX would've had to be working seriously overtime and then some for that to be even remotely possible. A Christmas episode? Then why not just start the season later in the year? And for that matter how are they gonna fit this around the movie if they make this a thing? On the bright side this will hopefully mean a shorter waiting time for season 6, on the down side there has been no synopsis released for episode 14.... And that's nothing compared to what us DC Nation survivors had to go through... At least there won't be an over-a-year long gap between new episodes this time. All the episodes are presumably made already. I wonder if it means that the sixth and possibly final season will air in 2017. And for that matter how are they gonna fit this around the movie if they make this a thing? I almost forgot. They really can't, can they? The new movie will be aired before the final episode of S5. I'm pretty sure the reason why is because of Friendship Games; that serving as our "hiatus". Or another reason could be that kids will be in school again, and the ratings will rise once more. I'm also relieved that S6 isn't coming so quickly. This is pretty freakin stupid to be honest, if this has anything to do with the Christmas episode people keep mentioning here then they shouldn't have made one in the first place. It's unfair for them to delay the other episodes so that one will air on par with the holiday. Prince Firemane 309 July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 I can't say I'm surprised. More and more shows are jumping on this "mid-season finale" bandwagon. Anyone who watches The Walking Dead knows how to deal with this sort of thing. The problem is that the mid-season finale trend is made to promote hype with doing as little work as possible. Again, I'm looking at you, Walking Dead. I know, I know; it takes a lot of time to choreograph large crowd scenes, but not so long as to really justify a year-long hiatus every eight episodes. The problem with doing this sort of thing in animation is that you have no buffer to excuse it. All the episodes are just about done aside from some post-production. There's no live-action choreography, just vocal. As someone who has done multiple kinds of acting including voice acting; vocal choreography ain't that fuckin' hard; especially when you have seasoned voice actors at this point in a show. Not to mention that they presumably start production on a new season either before the old season ends or just after. And considering the near-year long hiatus between seasons 4 and 5, the vast majority of production should've been done by the time season 5 started airing. Hell, they've done 3 26-episode seasons in the past with no mid-season finale kind of break, so it's not like it's a bold new undertaking. Like I said, the problem with a mid-season finale in animation is that there's no buffer excuse that the live-action shows have. It's all done for hype and there's no way to hide it. I'm sure that they're doing a hiatus to hype up Friendship Games and to more closely match up the alleged holiday episodes. But if I can survive The Walking Dead hiatus, I can survive this one. If taking a break at episode 14, and coming back in mid-to-late October is an accurate assessment; then the hiatus won't even be that long. Three months at the most. One reason is to keep shows from wasting their budget, so the animation and resources won't run thin (you may have noticed some S4 episodes have tried conserving animation through methods like the "scariest cave in Equestria"). Another reason there's a mid-season break is because viewership has been taking a dip. By taking an even longer break, it'll boost demand. More demand, more viewers. Add the aforementioned budget conservation, and there's a slimmer chance of disappointment. In a way, it's almost brilliant... But whatever, I guess it's fine. To be completely honest, I don't really mind. Now I can finish watching Steven Universe! Plus I'll be moving in a couple of months, so the hiatus will give me a chance to settle in my new house without missing any new episodes. Okay, so how long will we have to wait for ponies? when will it start? what if I don't get an apple cutie mark and I have to leave?
