Chapter 1: The Calling

It is a normal day in Equestria, the birds are singing filly's and colts are playing and everything seems good however what everypony doesn't know is that there is something coming... something big. This is something that can be felt in the air but no pony can really notice it al that is except from Princesses Celestia and Luna who know this is a threat they can not face so they begin to think of who can take up this important task.

Aurai stood infront of the canterlot gates. She was amazed by the big structures that made her look so small. She kept staring at the city until the guard at the gate coughed to get her attention. She quickly snapped out of her gaze, looking at the guard with a small blush.

 

"Miss, do you want to enter or have you changed your mind?" the guard said trying to stay formal. "Oh yeah, sorry. Yes I would like to enter." Aurai said as she gave her papers to the guard. "Princess Celestia and Luna have been expecting you, you may enter."

 

Aurai took back her papers and walked through the Canterlot gate with a smile. "Whatever it is they need me for, I will do my very best." She thought to herself. "I've never been summoned by anyone, I've never felt this important."

 

Aurai arrived at the steps that would lead her to the throne room. Again she felt tiny. She gulped "so many steps". With every step she felt more nervous. She had been traveling through Equestria for a while and noticed not one griffon but herself. "What if Celestia doesn't like griffons? What if she summoned me to punish me? Stop it! She would never do that. I have to stop talking to myself." Aurai said as she finally arrived at the top of the stairs.

 

She opened the door and entered the throne room. She could here her steps echo through the room.

 

(I hope this is alright. I've never done an advanced rp before)

This was just another normal day for Awilix,she was laying on big tree near the Everfree forest.She looked up at big and bright sun and thinked about her godess of the moon.She started to think about how two years have passed and yet the moon godess never given her anny hint about plans for future,she thinked Did moon godess forgot about her.And as thet tough gone tru her head she quick standed up and said "Thet cant be true,godess could not forgot about my." At thet point she heard something down under her happening,it was some group on ponys passing,and how it looked to Awilix they have just exited forest,and stil did not see her up in tree.Awilix looked at them and thinked 'Looks like another group of adventures have bite the dust here.' Smile gone over her face.Awilix did not liked to be in group of ponys so much so she was tryed to be as quait as she posible could until this group passed.

She didnt wait for long,and group was quickly gone.Awilix jumped down from tree and true smaile on her face said "Lets see were this day will hold for my." She started walking west from the tree she was on.

Heads turned on the streets of Canterlot as a large imposing figure walked down the road toward the castle. A rough light-brown coat covered his body, fetlocks showing some peach skin. On his head was a long, wild mane of dark ginger, with a tail to match, and a moustache and beard on his face. Aloof sky-blue eyes scanned the road ahead, disregarding the concerned looks of the unicorns he passed.

 

His attire was a cuiress of steel armour, sporting an insignia of crossed axes carved into the chest. A cloak of brown leather was draped across his back, lined with white fur. But the most distinguishing figure was what was strapped to a harness across his back; a large steel axe, the handle covered with varnished wood and the blades edged and notched from many years of use. The flats of the blades sported the same insignia as the chest plate, one for each side.

 

The pegasus guards at the Canterlot Castle gates swallowed, feeling rather intimidated by the large figure slowly approaching them. The earth pony stopped before them, and tapped a large hoof on his chest plate.

 

"The princesses are expecting me," he told them, his voice deep and carrying authority, sporting an accent that was uncommon inside Equestria's borders.

"O-of course," one of the guards muttered, trying to keep his composure as he waved his hoof through the open doors, "R-right this way, sir. A guard inside will show you to the throne room."

"My thanks," the stallion replied, giving a slight bow of the head to the guard before lumbering inside.

 

He looked around the castle foyer. It looked nothing like the longhouse at home; it was much more intricate...and colourful.

Aurai walked further into the throne room, each step echoing more eventhough she tried to be as silent as possible. She felt even smaller in such a big room. "Who goes there?" a loud voice asked. It was too dark to see who it was. "Uhm...i-it's Aurai, your highnesses." Aurai said quietly. She stepped into the small light of the chandelier that was hanging above her. "I was summoned by you in a letter. What would you have me do?" She said kneeling before the throne.

Mezra was a little shocked to be summoned to the royal castle in Canterlot. She didn't even know the princesses know who she was. Though she has a little bit of a reputation around Baltimare for bring back the dead and whatnot.But she never felt like she was doing anything wrong. And it seemed like from the letter that it wasn't about things like that.

 

Thought it could be a trap, maybe they think she is to dangerous to take in by force that she had to be tricked into coming in on her own. She didn't know. But she was still going. She already had a few consistency plans just in case that were to happen. Her name was cursed after all, and if anyone tried to attack her after saying it she would be able to put a paralysis spell on them and run away. While she was having a little panic party in her mind she was on a train heading for Cantelot. She packed a few things she would might need. A few potions, a channeling staff, her trusty magic spell book, a curved ceremonial dagger, the Necronomicon, trail mix. You know, the essentials.

 

And of course she couldn't leave without her pet un-dead rat, Lucy. Who was snuggling up to Mezra under her cloaks hood.

 

It didn't take too long to make it to Canterlot. Even though this might be a trap she could at least show up on time. She then made her way to the castle.  

 

When she got there she shied away a little when the guards looked at her. She lift up a trembling hoof holding the letter up to them. They nod and let her pass. See then harried off to the thrown room. She could see that she wasn't the only one. But all the same she stayed near one of the large curtains so she could hide behind it. She wasn't good at meeting new ponies. Living as a lone hurmit could too that to some ponies.

The large earth pony entered the dark throne room, his heavy hooffalls echoing through the spacious hall. He spotted a hooded figure sneaking behind one of the large drapes. He paid little mind to it, but he decided to keep a mental note that they were there.

 

He lumbered forward, keeping his chest out and head raised high to show his confidence to the Princesses sitting at the other side. He noticed that a griffon was also making her introductions under the light of the chandelier. He stopped next to her and knelt before the alicorns.

 

"Your majesties," he began, bowing his head, "I am Helvard Shatterhoof, of the Frozen North." He got back to his hooves. "I received your summons and arrived as quickly as possible."

Awilix spear moved and falled from her back.It falled and purple star was facing north.Awilix looked at this and think 'Is this it?Is this were you whant my to go?Well I have noting to lose." Awilix picked up her spear from ground and started moving north,in a way of Canterlot castel.

Björg was upset.

 

She was hungry and dying from heat. The Equestrian sun was always so disgustingly bright and disgustingly happy. Ugh. She was furry! She couldn't deal with this heat!

 

She had left Griffinia a little over a week ago. For awhile, she had walked, very slowly and purposefully, head high. Eventually, she had realized if she continued walking this proudly and grandly, it would take her a month to reach Canterlot. So she took to the air.

 

She was very close to the city now and attempted to fly in, but it was protected by.... by.... something?

 

What black magic was this?

 

Oh. Oh. It was that dumb, weakling pony magic she'd heard of. It was a protection barrier around the city. How cowardly.

 

She flew down to the gates. Two guards in pretty, but rather weak-looking armor manned the gates. They stared at her challengingly.

 

"Hey, pretties," Björg said, grinning crookedly. The guards both shifted threateningly, so that she could see their swords better. She rolled her eyes.

 

They were both unicorns. She had half a mind to challenge them to see what their magic was like, but decided against it.

 

"My names Björg." Björg said with much nobleness in her voice, tossing her head to emphasize her nobleness, "Björg of the Blood-Storm."

 

One guard peered over a table beside him, scanning a sheet of paper. "Yeah, she's here," he said in a gruff voice. "Guest of Celestia herself." He turned to the other guard. "Says she's a foreigner and will need an escort. I'll be back. Follow me."

 

"I need no escort!" Björg squawked indignantly, wings ruffling slightly in annoyance. The guard rolled his eyes at her-- most disrespectfully!-- and gestured for her to follow him. She did, highly indignant. She refused to speak to such a rude creature, which seemed to suit him just fine.

 

He led her to the central castle, which, despite herself, Björg admired greatly. The escort said to a guard in front of the castle gates, "she's here to meet the Princess."

 

"Oh, really? Another pony-- uh..." the guard seemed to not know how to refer to her. Björg rolled her eyes.

 

"Lead me inside," Björg ordered, as though she was the one making the decisions. The two guards exchanged a look (almost as they were laughing at her!) and her escort led her into the castle, up a great staircase, to the doors to a great room.

 

"In here," the guard said, and opened the doors. She stalked inside, waving a tail dismissively at the guard...

 

...and stopped, because there were three other creatures in the room. A giant stallion who didn't seem interesting, a weird mare, and a griffin with quite the flank. Björg examined the other griffin off-handedly. She did not seem to be of one of the clans. Ancestors above, what a flank.

 

Her eyes drew to the center of the room. Her beak dropped open at the two gorgeous alicorns.

Awilix moved swift and quickly reach the Canterlot.She looked at castel in back then at her spear,thet was on her back now,and thinked 'Is this it?You whanted my to come here my godess?' Awilix smailed,because for frst time in years she had a clue.Awilix almost flyed tru the town and to the castl.
Awilix looked at guards at dore and for a moment she stoped to think her next move,but then remembered thet godess must expect her.She started moving to the castel dore slow and scared but with smail on her face.As she got close she lowered her look and started moving next to the guard hoping he wont see her.She passed in with no problem,and with her frst hoove step in castel her spear glowed for a moment before again going back dark.Now Awilix know she was on right place,she looked around and seen some grifon in front of her and she started folowing it.As grifon entered in big room with two ponys and one more grifon,and two alicorns in back she know she was at her destination.She looked around the room and her eyes stoped at Princess Luna and with quait voice she started "G-godess?"

Aurai looked at everyone who walked in. Her face went red when she saw another griffon. Not because she was another griffon but because she was definitely staring at her. She quickly turned around, looking at the two alicorn sisters. She wondered why they were all summoned here. She waited patiently.

Celestia stood up and inspected the group for a few minuets before returning to her seat "I am glad you are all here, as you know I have summoned you here personally the reason being...I want you to go to the crystal empire and collect a relic for transport to Canterlot I hope you can do this." The doors then opened implying that they were being told to get going but Luna quickly said "Do not trust anyone and give no one the artefact oh err I mean relic. Now be gone."

"That's it? That is all they want? I came all the way down here for a 1 minute talk?" Aurai thought to herself angry. She turned around angry and walked towards the door. "I'm not the most interesting being in a Equestria but this is no respect. They could've at least offered us a cup of tea or something." Aurai mumbled to herself as she continued walking.

Helvard blinked once, processing the information easily.

 

Too easily. Surely there was more to this task. There was absolutely nothing to go on!

 

"Your highness," he spoke up, "If I may, what is this relic? And who are we to retrieve it from? Surely you have more information?"

 

He turned around and spotted another unicorn and griffon entering the hall. This summons was surely a bizarre one, no doubt.

Awilix was in shock how her godess talked,and she was in shock as grifon pased next to her.Awilix quick turned around and folowed grifon tru dore.After she exited room where Celestia and Luna were she thinked "This cant be moon godess,she is just too much rude.And my moon godess is aint!"

"Awriight." Björg said, still a little dumbfounded. Ancestors above. That was some nice white fur alright. "Relic. Right. Sure." She turned around, then suddenly realized something. She turned around again, back to the princesses.

 

"Ah! Ah! Wait. I am Björg!" She puffed out her chest furs, becoming even taller. "Björg of the Blood-Storm! I have come to meet with you, Princess Celestia! And may I say, you have quite the nice-- kingdom! Quite the nice kingdom, alright. Yep. I love your soft-looking, white-- castle. Yes. Yes, castle." She fell silent. "What I mean to say, is that we shall meet and discuss my land of Griffinia after I return from this quest that you have so suddenly given to me! I will not fail you!" She clenched her bird talon and swung it in the air to emphasize just how much she wouldn't fail the gorgeous princess.

 

She quickly turned to run into-- her eyebrows raised at the green mare. Now that is the face that launched a thousand ships. Björg thought, smirking slightly as she examined the mare's blue mane. The mare seemed busy staring at the pretty princesses, which suited her just fine.

 

Her eyes passed to the only stallion of the group as he spoke, questioning the logic of the task. Who needed logic when the request was coming out of the lips of that beautiful princess?

"They could've offered tea" Aurai said loud and angry, ignoring what the stranger said to her. "Oh sorry, I'm not usually like this." She said as she felt bad already for her behaviour. "They are royals, stressed and all worked up of course. I'm so rude." Aurai said with regret. "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

Awilix seen grifon talking to her she smailed and started "Oh my?Noting." And just like thet smail on her face desapired and she lowered her head down,and she looked on floor.For couple of hoove steps she did not said annything and then started with week voice,stil not raising her head "Is it posible thet godess can be so rude?"

"The goddess of the moon, Luna, she might have been rude just then, but you have to consider that they are under a lot of stress. Whatever this relic is, it must be important for them to react this way." Aurai said to the stranger. She kept on walking down the stairs but stopped as she realise the others were still in the throne room. "Maybe it is best we wait for the others. I think they want us do it together."

Celestia was not amused by the Shatterhoof  "All you are allowed to know is that it is important and you will be rewarded greatly with what ever you want but for now tie is of the essence and as for who to get it from you will now her when you see her no go."

Helvard let out a snort from his nostrils, unimpressed by Celestia's bluntness.

 

"Very well," He replied, "but with so little information, I cannot guarantee success."

 

He turned to the...colourful group of characters occupying the hall with him. It seemed he would be travelling with them to the Crystal Empire.

 

Marvellous.

 

Letting out the most quiet of sighs, he decided to the pony and griffon having a discussion...from what he could gather, about the princess's rudeness. It seemed he wasn't the only one upset by it.

"I will agree, I expected the rulers of this land to be a bit more polite," he chimed in, then bowed his head to the two, "Helvard Shatterhoof. It seems we will be travelling together."

"Nice to meet you helvard, I'm Aurai." She said shy. She had never seen such a big stallion before and felt a bit intimated. She said nothing for a while, feeling abit awkward. "Now we just have to wait for the others and then we can start our journey to the crystal empire."

Awilix head was stil down,and her look was fokused on flore.One tear drop on flore as Aurai was talking.After her Awilix started with steal week voice "She isnt my moon godess.This is just an imposter." Awilix raised her head and her eyes have been full of tears "I will stop this imposter onces we get back here.She will not put dirt on my godess name!"

At thet moment another pony walked next to Awilix and Aurai.Awilix qucik gone with her hoove over her face,so new pony dont see her tears "Awilix here,nice to meet you..." Awilix said with stil week voice,and if Helvard looked closer he could see she had cryed not long ago.

"Well met, Aurai," Helvard greeted the griffon, oblivious to her being intimidated by him.

 

He turned and looked down at the smaller pony, who seemed incredibly distraught over something.

"Calm yourself, friend," he advised her, putting one of his treestump-like hooves on her shoulder, "I am sure there is a good explanation for the Princess'...behaviour."

 

He glanced aside to the two alicorns, a hint of spite in his glare.

As Helvard put his hoove on her shoulder Awilix quick moved back,she did not like for some one to toche her,she liked her prsonal space too much to let some one to this things to her.Awilix voice got stronger,but stil not normal "Dont toche my!...." She looked at  Helvard with her sad eyes "Im soory friend,I just dont like to be toched." Awilix turned around started walking in way of front dores "There is no explanation,moon godess is kaind and sweet.And this one isnt..." Awilix voice was slowy started going back to normal as she finished her sentens.
