How about some Atomic Rooster

Wow, that's awesome! I'm trying to get through every songs, but they are too long lol.

Here's a song from Genesis first album, Trespass. But the version is live, even better:

And a 20 minute epic:

While I'm more well known as a Deathcore, Metal enthusiast, I love me some Prog, and yes, Rush is the greatest band of all time. The holy triumvirate! I've seen them four times, and I'd've never picked up a bass had it not been for Geddy Lee.

But no pony wants to be redundant, so here's Periphery:

Yes, Rush is the greatest band of all time, at least in my opinion.

Also, Periphery is awesome!!!

Well, I think I've made it clear I love early Chicago, back when they were progressive and jazzy, so I'll skip over posting about them this time, and instead post a couple of new bands that take roots in old styles, but are still progressive in of themselves.

The first one being Afroskull, a very retro sounding band, they maintain a very authentic retro sound that meshes together the funk of the 70s with jazz rock as well. For good measure, to keep the music fresh, they have metal influence as well. Most of their songs are instrumental, and are fun, because you'll think you're hearing straight-up jazz/jazz rock but then they throw in a distorted guitar that almost comes off as being metal.

I'll post one of their few vocal songs, which very much gives off that retro vibe.

(I actually prefer their vocal song "Everything", but it's not on YouTube. This one is great as well, of course.)

Then this one might be a little less obscure (I can't pretend to know what's obscure or not), I don't know...  This band is known more for sounding more typical of the old Canterbury Scene style. Personally, I do not know much about that scene (aside from Egg, which was an odd-one out for the scene, from what I've seen), so I'm really taking others words for this, but here's one of their songs.

Yes! a Prog rock thread

I always love to sit down and listen to Rush (They got me into prog) and Pink Floyd.

And some modern RUSH, still got it!

I'm going to have to check out some of these bands I've never heard of before.

hooboy. Awesome thread. Hey, this needs more Peter Gabriel-era Genesis. MOAR.

"The Battle Of Epping Forest". The keyboard-guitar section from 4:25 to 5:41 always sounds amazing. And THE LYRICS!

"Dancing With The Moonlit Knight". This song is just perfect. The pretty guitar intro, the all-out rockfest in the middle, the stupendous choir, etc.

Steely Dan - Do It again

I never used to care much for this song. But after repeatedly hearing it on the radio, it's grown on me. It's got this nocturnal, vaguely eerie quality, like driving down an unfamiliar stretch of road at 1:00 A.M. Not sure if it counts as progressive rock but whatever. Thanks for posting!

Also, thanks for posting Camel's song on the previous page. Someone I was acquainted with many years ago on another forum was enamored with them and so it was informative to hear more of their music. s'not too bad.
