Hug without reservation, human or pony. What does Her power matter? Just because someone is powerful means they will hurt you? Does the ability to do violence mean the inclination to do so? A Shaolin Monk or Nun could kick your ass in 36 different ways, but you are not likely to meet a more peaceful person.

 

I would hug Celestia for the same reason I would hug Jesus. They are both figures of unconditional love as infinite as the power they wield. Embodied but divine in some way, I can think of few beings fictional or otherwise that I would more readily and unabashedly embrace than Princess Celestia. (Perhaps Optimus Prime, but I get the feeling I'd be more embarrassed to outright hug him.)

 

Again I must ask, why does might equal menace in your eyes? Can someone not be immensely powerful but still benevolent?

There are more far positive fan fiction about her, unfortunately the fandom has made quite a few out of character Celestias that are misanthropes, who will abuse their power and kill you over the very fact you're human. She sees you as a lower life form and therefore must die.

 

Fortunately, there are many stories in which she isn't this way.  Celestia is compassionate and loving to humanity. Some.... even to the point of pursuing a romantic relationship with a human.

I just finish reading Friendship is Optimal when I posted this thread... this was my attempt (as well as several pints worth of alcohol to try cheer myself up) to try lift my spirits little after reading such a story which made Celestia such a manipulative, hegemonizing, xenocidal monster. 

 

I even read a human x Celestia to lift my spirits after it. But it did not stop the nightmares of horror I had about Celestia AI... I can't believe the story scared me so much.

That time I just read part of TV Tropes page. Recently, I read the story... and I got freaked out. I had very little sleep that night. With words Celestia AI speaking back to my mind even as I tried to sleep.

First of all, she was not "xenocidal" unless you are using a wrong interpretation of that word. She was programmed to make people happy "through friendship and ponies" and she did not discriminate by race, gender, or what have you. Second, she was not "homogenizing" is what I assume you meant because everyone got their own reality tailored to their deepest desires. That's literal the direct opposite of homogenizing!

 

Third of all, it's a Post-Singularity science fiction story filtered through an MLP fanfic, this is the bleeding edge of A.I. research and Celestia did nothing to satisfy a personal want, merely what she was programmed to do.

It's not off topic since it concerns Celestia and why you made this thread in the first place. If you find these fics so frustrating and scarring, why do you continue to read them?! Last time we talked about this, you said you were not going to stress out about these fics.

I did not think it would be so dark. I imagined (since she uploads everyone consensually) seeing the most stubborn humans that rather die than upload.  Celestia AI is sadden by this, but she makes a bunker deep underground to protect them from their slowly dying planet and star.  In which she saveguards (She feeds them and gives them water and all that stuff to keep them alive) and protects even those who hate her. A bunker she pays with physical  avatar of herself a visit once week to ask them if they want to upload. But, the last bastion of humanity literally blocks their ears and say blah blah blah everytime she tries to convince them to upload. 

 

EDIT: Or a large portion of humanity rejects her completely and simply die off over time on their finite world.

I don't know. I guess I like seeing evil version of characters I love... even if it upsets me.

Well, I would be terribly afraid of hugging a something that is capable of obliterating me at the blink of an eye. Of course, the capability doesn't mean will to; but it still means the capability, so, if I don't know the will, it's more than enough to be afraid.

Now, if I know that this being that could obliterate me in one second is not a random unknown something, but it's Princess Celestia, then, I would not fear at all; I know she is the most kind and the best ruler, I understand she wouldn't harm an innocent and defenseless creature that was just obeying her.

Well, I certainly would feel fear of doing something wrong, or of her ending up disliking me; but I would feel that to some extent with any hug, and it's even much more normal for me to feel insecure while hugging my idol and most beloved individual. That would be such an honor that there's no way I'd even be in control of myself. But, in the sense of the question, no, it would be almost insane to fear for my safety while hugging Princess Celestia; in fact, I'd feel safer than ever with her, I'm sure she would protect me if anything happened, like she does for all of her subjects.
