gaming Best and Worst Gamestop Moments

So...Gamestop. Some love it, some despise. I am in the category of loving it mostly but I have had my fair share of experiences with stores that were pretty bad but also some that were awesome with much better stores.

What are some of your worst and best Gamestop moments?

For me, one of the worst has to be a recent event, where I traded in my 3DS XL to buy a New 3DS XL, I asked both of the employees there specifically about the system transfer and if it was difficult to do, I was under the impression it was an account transfer and nothing more. They told me, "No, not hard at all! It is quite easy." I was like, "Cool, awesome! Cannot wait to try it out then. ^__^" Come to figure out, I needed the old system to do the transfer. They never told me this at all and I had to call Nintendo to get that sorted, Nintendo customer service is awesome though.

One of the best moments was recently, me and a friend had like an hour long conversation with the store owner at a different GAmestop and she was awesome. She was really talkative and kind even after working a 12 hour shift and she even told us about events that she was gonna be hosting at her store soon, it was really cool. So that is the Gamestop I want to support now. :3

The local Gamestop I always shop at has always been a positive experience for me. I shop there so often I've gotten to know everyone who works there. Sometimes when they have extra little goodies people receive from pre-orders that the manger just wants to throw out (for some reason >.>) they give me a keychain or something. B)

I haven't had a negative experience yet from a Gamestop. Though I don't shop there much anymore. Many years ago, I use to go to this one all the time, and so the employees knew me. They gave me a bunch of leftover preorder bonuses for free.

I have switched over to Best Buy now for preordering and purchasing new games because of their gamers club. 20% off of new games, plus a $10 gift card when you preorder.

Like, don't underestimate my power man.

I've actually never had any bad experiences, which is actually pretty surprising considering how many horror stories most people usually do have. The closest I'd say was when I went to trade my 3DS for a New 3DS, initially weren't gonna let me do the transfer(Because apparently someone at launch had theirs for several hours). I had to do a lot of convincing to tell them that it's not supposed to take that long and then they finally let me do the transfer(though it still took me a while xp

Best experience was probably went to buy Lost Odyssey which at the time was $15, but the price tag had it set for $10. The guy said he'd charge me for $10 because of that

I can't think of a time where Gamestop actually made me angry... I can't think of a best either, to tell the truth... Every experience has been:

Find game.

Purchase game.

Leave store.

I don't have a good or bad story... Wait... why am I even responding to this thread...?

I can't recall a time I didn't have bad experience at Gametop. My best experience at Gamestop was when I went to pick up Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. I walked to my Gamestop wearing my Naruto jacket and was a few minutes early so I waited for the store to open. When the store did open and I went inside to pick up my game I was talking to one of the workers about the game. They knew some things about the anime and game and we had a fun conversation for a few minutes. After getting the game I left the store and ran home as fast as I could so I could play my new video game.

I don't recall any actual bad experiences.

Good experiences though:

One of the employees noticed my Ditzy Doo shirt and we talked about ponies and then Silent Hill while she was checking the game I was purchasing out. She was pretty cool, I also saw one of her Pyramid Head drawings on a dry erase board to the side and it was really, really well drawn.

Me and my friends went to sell a few games at Gamestop awhile back; we brought about four or five. When we walked in, Gamestop was super crowded that day so we had to wait a bit before making it to the front of the line. The cashier we approached at the counter was a cynical snob. He took our games, and laughed out loud, again in a crowded Gamestop. He said, "A lot of games you guys are selling. What are you gonna do with the 12 bucks I give back to you?" He hadn't even found out the actual price he was gonna be giving to us for the games..he was just being a jerk. He starts scanning them, before looking up at us once more, and he says, "drugs?"
It was quite a cringe worthy experience for me...not only did he continue to egg on this joke me and my friends were selling these games for drugs...but he did it out loud so others could hear. People were staring...we were just selling the old games so we all could go out to eat together. I even got a call from my brother in the middle of this guy's craziness ...and when I answered the phone, the guy asked one of my friends off to the side if I was "talking to dealer or something."

It was so awful.

I haven't really had a best experience there... xD

Wow, you all are so lucky! XD Most of you have never had a bad GS experience, but that is good. :) The Gamestop I mentioned in my bad experience, that is the worst store ever for that company. They are just awful there. I recently bought a game, pre-owned, and when I took it home, I put the disk in and the game would not work, at all. Then upon closer inspection, there were 4 obvious cracks in the center of the disk. The Gamestop employee looked directly at the disk and did not see these at all somehow even when they were obvious.

Needless to say, I am not bothering with that Gamestop, ever. Even the employees there seem so disinterested in what they do, like they don't really care about gaming at all. :\

I have no best moments. Worst one? Okay since that part of the title.

My worst one in the past was I was in GS asking for Megaman X8. During that time I expect they still have that as a physical copy for a PS2 but they don't. My rage....I bottle it in that day and I really wanted that game to play.

There was another game I wanted but GS don't have it either. I can't remember the game but I was much more angrier than the one I had for Megaman X8. In my mind I always think that GS never stock up or sell things as physical copies of the games I want. My experience with them is low but not completely destroyed. I did got things I wanted from them few years ago from now.

I've never had a bad experience but when I was thirteen or something, I had a long conversation with the guy who was working there about Assassin's Creed. It was kinda awkward though since my dad was there and he had no idea what was going on.

To be perfectly honest as far as I'm aware I've never visited Gamestop despite owning a lot of games.  Though chances are I will fairly soon! Presuming I have it swap/buy a new 3DS to scan amiibo cards, thus I have not had any positive or negative experiences.

The worst Gamestop experience I had was when this one employee had turned off all demo systems and accused of harassing him, after asking why he'd do it. I was simply complaining because I wanted to try out demos of games that I may buy in the future. And on that day, I was playing a game and then he just comes and shuts the system off just like that. Customers watched the whole thing and I even told them about it. To be honest, I hope he was fired, because to make matters worse, he threatened he would call the cops on me if I didn't leave or buy a game and leave. After storming out the store crying and yelling, I get my dad and he has a hard one with him. Fortunately, we filed a huge complaint and I think that employee was severely warned or even fired. I tell ya, just because you want money, doesn't mean you act like some jerk and dump your stuff on them.

On the other hand, the best gamestop experience I had was at my local gamestop and battled this guy on Pokemon X. I had all of my plans lined up but he had to use the dang Rock Slide on me, causing my pokemon to flinch first turn. It was a total sweep after that...

In addition, this kid wanted to play the full version of Smash Bros 3DS because the demo only allowed him to play a few select characters. I happened to have my New 3DS XL on me. I hand it over to him and he had one of the biggest smiles on his face. Even the employee smiled at me. I tell ya, my local gamestop is perhaps the most friendliest gamestop around my town, unlike that other one close to my old school.

Good experiences: There used to be a Gamestop a minute away from me that had really nice employees that were really helpful(with the exception of one story). Then it was closed and replaced by a Radioshack(which closed in less than a year). There was also a store with employees that were in complete shock about one of the bad experinces mentioned below.

Bad experiences: The one incident at the now closed store was when I tried to return a game. I bought a pre-owned copy of the Orange Box for Xbox 360(this was before I had a PC capable of gaming), but it kept making a scratching noise whenever I played it, even though it doesn't happen with other games(this was the slim Xbox first released in 2010). I tried to return it, but the employee went out of his way to try to stop me from returning it. I was able to return it, but it took longer than it should've. There was also the time when my brother bought a new 3DS game at a Gamestop, not only was it not in shrink wrap, but they didn't even put tape on it. There was absolutely nothing sealing it. And the cartrage fell on the floor. Then he returned it and bought a pre-owned PS4 game, but they didn't even bother to put the disc in the disc holder, even though the holder wasn't broken.

Also, Gamestop really needs to stop lying about "new" games. If you have previously opened a game and taken it out of the package, it is not new. The reason they open it is because employees are allowed to borrow any new game of their choice for 4 days. Unfortunately, some of the employees probably don't care about the condition of the game, so you could end up with a scratched copy of a game that you just payed a full $60 for.
