"Hey..." Ivory Star looked up, towards the receptionist. "What would it take to get me into a fight with this pony?"

"Umm..." The receptionist could only shoot her back a look of confusion. "This pony?"

"Oh, sorry, pronoun game. I mean Ice Blizzard."

"Um..." The receptionist reached down, pulling up his own copy of the list, and mouthed through it. "It says he just had a match recently... it's been canceled, due to a technicality... I suppose so. Are you sure?"

"Why not? Sign me up!" She beamed to herself, as the receptionist shrugged, picking up a pencil to scribble her down on a separate sheet.

@Fractured

Raze looked at Ivory, then looked away. What was her deal with this "Blizzard" guy, was what he started to think, then disregarded it. It was none of his business.

"Now, as a person who's already fought in the arena twice..." he said to Ivory. "Be careful; no one pulls any punches once the fight starts, they look at you as if they mean to kill you... though they won't, they have rules against that. Even still, just keep your guard up."

I did not say anything, not that he would even hear me. I needed to keep my concentration. I was actually trying to put him in the hospital. Knowing him, it would take a lot to make him give up and I had to bring the pain to do it. That was especially true with what had happened. Sparky was sending me information on energy levels that were above expected parameters, but only during that sequence. He was hiding something and it wasn't over. Not by a long shot. Best be on guard as I made sure to right the mecha-taur. It couldn't be imbalanced that easily, and even then I'd just move the metal around in midair to reform it in a way that it did not fall.

The arms and torso had solidified and I faded from view, sitting on my control platform behind the super-compressed metal torso. I could see out, but nopony could see in. The billowing storm of shrapnel moved around the mecha-taur as I replaced and fixed the daggers, accounting for the parameters Sparky had sent me. If he did that again I'd speed up the 50 daggers, but that was pretty fast. If anything we might just standstill, not being able to hit each other.

I felt doing some grandstanding at the feat of a 20 foot tall minotaur being made out of metal surrounded in billowing shrapnel was in order, but this was not the time. Celebrating would be done when someone called it, regardless of the actual outcome.

25 of the daggers reformed into two huge swords, being grabbed by the mecha-taur. I was sweating, the mana expenditure for something that huge - two somethings - actually being felt. Even though I was reusing lightning I had already solidified, the sheer size of the weapons was being felt. There were now 25 daggers chasing Caliber. Could I match his physical speed with my mental speed?

Time to kick it up! Literally. I directed the mecha-taur into a flurry of punches, slashes, and stomps, shaking the battlefield asunder to attempt to land hits. There was way more metal than I anticipated, which got added to the billowing shrapnel around the mecha-taur. Too close and if the attacks didn't get him, the shrapnel storm would.

Caliber clenched his jaw, continuing to bounce away from the lightning daggers, before a crashing blow from the minotaur, narrowly missing him, sent him sprawling. He managed to land on his feet, although he still slid a few meters regardless. That amount of power...It wasn't in his strength to fight fairly. Especially not with the shrapnel. So he settled for taking note of his surroundings.

There were orbs, as expected. Some large. Some small. Some made of glass. Others made of a self-sustaining ball of fire...But what caught his eye...Was that some were low-hanging. He wondered exactly how grounded to gravity they were, as a plan began to form in his head. That sky of orbs, looked almost like tree-tops...

He narrowed his eyes--the daggers were still a problem, flying about him as he made distance between himself and the giant minotaur. He decided to go for a trick he saw Zenru do once...Bracing his sword, and sheath, to spin in place, knocking each dagger so intensely he sent them flying unstably. Of course, they would righten themselves, jumping back into the fray...But it was enough time for Caliber to dash off, leaving them chasing, him having a headstart.

He leaped an impressive seven feet, after some time building speed, and stuck his blade into the side of a earth-based orb, scrambling upright on it. Jumping to the next, higher one, which happened to be made of wood...His next jump poised to head directly into the thick cover of the multiple floating orbs.

...He was planning to hide himself, amongst the numbered elemental spheres...

"Of course," the mare said. "A... a duel." She didn't like the way the word rolled off of her tongue. It was too smooth and gentle a word to describe a fight.

Well, it wasn't important. "It's not the destination, it's the journey," she said absentmindedly. "If I knew where I was going, what would be the point of getting there? Come on, I think the arena is open."

The pony slowly turned back around. "Youngling...What is a journey, if you do not learn? You claim to have been on your journey for years--yet I sense that you have learned nothing, but regret. Cynicism. And constructed a bitter shell to house the sensitive feelings inside..."

He offered a smile--where it was revealed that this pony...Was ancient. Wrinkles decorated his face, although a lively spark had replaced the drowsy expression he had been wearing thus far.

"...But if you are willing, then I shall accept the duel." He added, as an afterthought, once he was finished with his small statement. A small competitive smirk had crossed his muzzle at this point.

"Attention, ponies. The match between Ivory Star, aspiring newcomer, and Ice Blizzard, half-held owner of the champions title, will now commence! Location: Angel Island!

Ivory Star had practically bounced into the arena, but as the setting changed, she was taken aback. It wasn't every day you got to see your own floating island, after all. It also made her feel... strange, in a manner she couldn't describe. She should've been planning strategies, but for the moment, she stood out over the edge of the island, watching the waves, while she waited for Ice Blizzard.

@J.R.

"Got it! I have to say though, i've never seen Ice Blizzard fight before. Seeing as how I haven't met him that many times, and my longest stay with him was in the hospital." She grinned, to slide a hoof back through her mane. "I sorta helped get him out of a potential murder charge. But that was a long time ago, and a long distance away from here. And a bit of a long story."

Ice suddenly somersaulted into the arena from the air. He sniffed and took a big whiff of the floating island's fresh, crisp air. After that, he stopped, and looked at the mare curiously. Heartthrob flushed, graduating into a slow blush, as her mane was ruffled.

Anette nearly mimicked her, though it was a much lighter shade of red staining her cheeks. "Well... it is hard to have fun on an empty stomach..." She smiled at the waiter as he came, and took the menus, magically floating one over to Wilhelm, and keeping the other for herself. She peered at it intently. "The king's salad..." A very large, slightly expensive, three tiered salad, mysteriously combined with both fruits and vegetables, while somehow still looking appetizing. Even more so; it looked exquisite enough to practically jump off the page at her.

"This looks incredible." She put the menu down, and grinned up at Wilhelm. "Looks like I know what I want."

Wilhelm's eyes widened as he looked at the prices, but he covered his muzzle with one hoof and pretended to cough. Remember, Wilhelm, this isn't about "whatever is the least bits" like in your self-imposed exile or between Royal Stipend paychecks. This is about Anette. "Sounds like a good choice. I'll have the..."

His eyes swept over the menu, alighting on a single Bitalian dish. Spicy pasta with a pesto sauce and olives. It appeared unconventional, yet delicious. Sure, Wilhelm had never tried it before, but he was sure it would be fine. After all, he had tried what the Braytish call a "good curry" once. Couldn't be half as bad as that. "The spicy pesto penne. With roasted potatoes, please."

With a smile, Wilhelm hoofed his menu back to the waiter, the previous price-induced wince gone. He waited for the waiter to disappear, then took a sip of water. I could have gone for some wine. For a moment, Wilhelm considered asking the waiter for the wine list when they came back, then reconsidered the benefits of sobriety. ...Nope.

In another world...

In another time...

A story of a world in danger...

This, however, was not that time.

@@crispy fries,

"Push off, chucklehuck," a rather grumpy voice commented as the shadowy form of Agririon stepped out of the train behind the mare who felt that staring into the town with the sunset was the fastest way to a good meal and whiskey. He squeezed past her, not watching his hooves very well, and with a grump, started walking into the town, barely noticing that she was carrying military grade gear that appeared to have been customized for more comfortable wear. Oh, gee, I wonder why she's here?

Now, one might think that this was hypocritical. Why else would a wanderer such as he board an interdimensional train like this to visit an interdimensional pocket like this? Actually, the fellow who was currently attempting to figure out where the hell in town he was had two very specific reasons for coming here. First, there was an old friend of his he wanted to meet, and in this town where punching faces was just a phone call and a half a mile walk away, and actually not against the rules, he figured that there were worse places to find him.

Second, he figured it was about time to end his binding to the princesses.

While, normally, he couldn't kill her or harm her in any ways, he had discovered that this little interdimensional town of Bangcolt allowed leniency when it came to magical bindings such as his. Besides, there was no need for death. He'd just go in, beat up the princesses in a casual form with both of them trying their best, and then he would be physically able to be less imposing upon them. He'd still show up on occasion, of course- no being of the dimensions makes tea like Luna does- but actually being able to explore the cosmos at will with his companions would be a nice change of pace instead of being limited to his home plane and Equestria. Heck, he might even be able to convince the Greater Powers to actually record his true backstory. That would be great, he always wanted to tell the fellows about his life in more detail.

But step one was more achievable for now, so when the grumbling specter finally located and entered the bar and paid for his drink (a single malt whiskey on the rocks for round one), Agririon paused and scanned the patrons for his old friend, hoping that his striped head would distinguish itself from the other patrons.

((Tsor'ekoh will appear soon, but I ran out of time for right now.))

For the briefest of instances, Ivory Star crinkled her brow up, looking towards the sky. "Buzzkill." She muttered under her breath in irritation, before turning around to look over at Ice Blizzard, with an expectant smile.

"Do you always need to know the name of your opponents? Or is that a formality?" She broke into a wry grin. "To be honest, I was probably too impulsive. I wanted to throw down with a bit more of Bangcolt, in order to make a name for myself before I came here. But, I suppose now that we're here, there's no leaving, unless one of us forfeits." The grin changed, devolving back into a smile, this one simple. "But I guess that doesn't matter right now. So hi, Ice. Nice to see you again."

@Orion Caelum

Anette gave the briefest of glances over at Wilhelm as he coughed, her eyebrows crinkling in thought. She was sure she had caught something just on the fringes of his expression, but... She decided to leave it alone, for now. Instead, she flashed the same picture perfect patient smile, that had become a part of her so long ago, it felt natural to have. "Pesto penne. Sounds fancy..." Her hoof retreated just the slightest bit, as she looked away apprehensively. The question that had been on her mind for a while now, though she  hadn't had the chance to. "Wilhelm..." He stare increased, focusing intetly on a specific white patch on the tablecloth, and boring a hole into it. "What happened to you?"

... however, it seemed that our galactic wanderer never, in fact, made it to the bar that easily.

"What? You think that just standing in the way of the entire train just to take in some atmosphere is doing anything else but causing a holdup?" Agririon turned his neck, his glowing green face (he had decided to ditch the skull mask some time ago when not in combat- symbol of office or not, people laughing at him for being edgy for an accessory that wasn't very intimidating or demanding of respect anymore didn't really entertain him) glaring in annoyance at this pony. "And I'm certain that Mister Cold Storage and his little puppet behind me think the exact same way."

"Foolish specter! Dost thou not know who I am?!" growled Tsor'Ekoh, a lich who, while also rather held up by the mare in front of her, had some semblance of patience. However, he was not going to stand here and take it from this smartass. The amalgamation behind the Lich- the terrifying undead creature lovingly dubbed "Mockingbird"- was viewing this all with confusing and entertainment, much how a child would view adults fighting over petty things such as turn order.

"Yes, I know who you are, Ice Head. And your friend too, Ms. Chunky Salsa. If it wasn't for the rules of this place, I'd have your shiny skull back home now. But this isn't the time, and you seem perfectly willing to wait behind this shotgun lady's rump, so stay out of it. You'll have your turn in the spotlight soon enough."

With a harrumph, the Lich turned around. "Come, my dear, I am certain that other doors are available for us to exit this infernal contraption. We shall find our residence."

"Yes, father," the monstrosity chimed in the voice of a young Canterlot filly before following the lich back through the train.

"Well, with that out of the way, I'm certain I can find it in my heart to forgive you for blocking up the train. Or not. I don't know. If it really ticks you off that much, fill out a request at the Arena and put your shotgun to the purpose that you brought it here for." He shrugged off her hoof on his shoulder before stalking away. "The name's Agririon, just so you know for the paperwork. I'd wait about thirty minutes, though, I need to get myself all checked in and all of that in case you're one of those snowflakes who registered beforehand." And with that, he began to walk away and, if left undisturbed, would make his way down to the bar to look for his old friend.

Jade blinked as she saw the warriors around her had begun glowing with some kind of energy. She looked at her back, feeling a warm sensation, and saw her own sword was glowing with heat.

Tricis was right; their energies were being amplified!

She noticed that Patch's was burning the brightest. She began to wonder if that meant anything...

As Feather was called to fight first, she turned to her new friend and nodded at him with a smile. Silently wishing him good luck.

(On a phone, so I can't change text colors)

"Yes, excellent!" Jade heard Patch say. He was glowing slightly, radiating blue. She could see his energy! "I can already feel the energy flowing through me! My wound hurts much less now!"

Upon further observation, the other prospects were glowing as well, though they weren't as bright as Patch. Feathers aura was a darker blue while cumulus' was green.

Jade felt something hot touching her side. Her sword was radiating heat through its sheath!

Tricis nodded in a sort of approval. She had found the best four students. "The first match of the semifinals shall be Feather Weave versus Patch." She announced. "Do you need instructions or can you figure this out on your own?"

Feather immediately turned his eyes to Patch who was already stepping forward. Even if he really was a child, Feather would have to defeat him.

(I think this is where we left off o3o)

"If you really are a child..." Feather Weave began as he drew his wooden sword, the tip still broken. "Don't make me hurt you."

"And what do you mean by that?" Patch tried to ask, but he never got an answer before Tricis shouted for the fight to begin.

Patch leapt forward as soon as he was told to begin, forcing Feather on the defensive. Every time Feather made a swing with his sword, Patch would block with his front legs, showing no sign of pain, before countering with a kick from his hind legs, striking feather several times in the lower chest.

Feather backed off and created some distance where he readied his sword for another attack. The blade began to glow the same color as his aura, showing their synergy. Now familiar with Patch's fighting style, he was able to counter and dodge properly, swinging his wooden blade so fast that those observing the fight could only see brown and blue streaks where the blade was swinging.

"It's rare to see someone as young as him able to infuse his essence with his blade like that." Tricis said in an offhoof comment as she lit another cigarette. "Must not get out much." She added as she extinguished her match.

"Reveal yourself!" Feather screamed as he took advantage of an opening in the colt's defenses, striking him in the back of the head with the blunt end of his blade and sending the colt crashing to the floor.

Agririon quietly stalked into the bar with an expression on his face that spoke of irritation. He had seen the girl march almost straight to the registration building after he had left with a rather daring expression, stopping only to obtain a snack. Less than five minutes in, and she was already rearing for a fight. And then there was that lich that showed up as well... what perfect timing.

Plopping down on a seat in the bar, he put his arm on the table to steady himself as he peered behind him for the zebra-striped head of his quarry. Not seeing them among the sea of patrons, he quietly turned around with a soft sigh before realizing his hand was right next to a razor-sharp katana with a simple wooden handle. Coincidence? Maybe. Quietly, he withdrew his hoof from the bar and, leaning back, looked next to him. Sure enough, sitting next to him was the zebra-like mane and bladed tail of his acquaintance. He chuckled, his black cloak shifting to glance at him as his drink arrived.

"Now ain't this a surprise," Agririon said off-handedly, sipping his drink and awaiting Raze's reaction to this mysterious figure who slid in next to him.

"Around, really. When there's not really any limit to where you can be, or why, you tend to get around quite a bit. I still hope to see some frost giants, to be honest." She gave a soft shrug. "But now i'm here. Just thought i'd have a little fun, and stop in to say hi. And maybe make a splash here." She shrugged again. "I didn't know you were the champion here, though. That's news to me."

"Sweet Celestia- oh, it's not her." The green stallion looked up from the desk in shock, then breathed a soft sigh. He had seen many contestants come and go in his life, but never one with a sense of... zaniness? lack of personal space? Overpowering sensation of out of this world-ness. Geez... "Sorry. A match right?" The stallion reached down, to shuffle through his papers. "Okay. First, name. And who would you like to fight?"

"There is no other condition, save that the disagreement's that have stretched out between us over the years come to an end. I choose to believe that a peaceful solution can come between the two of us, Chrysalis. After all, we have no shortage of brains between us. I'm sure we can come up with something." Celestia gave a soft chuckle, again to lighten the mood. Though it wasn't through naivete; she knew that there were no other options. Over thousands of years of dealing with the changelings had only ever seen her come closer to actions that she had no wish to take, but would eventually be forced to. And she would do anything to avoid that.

"Now, if you can agree to this, then I believe we may start."

@,

"Tingly feeling? Something like that." He smiled slightly and shrugged before narrowing his eyes at his comments. "Certainly not," he lied through his teeth, "although let me say, you picked one hell of a dimensional pocket to show up in if for whatever reason I was attempting to find you. There's no one stationed here; the fabric of this place means no one can die anyways, so it's just a waste of manpower. That, and time's all goofed up around her compared to normal planes anyways. I'm surprised they were able to set up an enterprise this valuable in such a unusual location."

He took a long draught of his drink before responding. "Well, I've got four goals on the checklist. Two of them were added as soon as I hit town. First, a lich decided it was high time to show up here. Brought his... creation with him. I'm making sure that he doesn't do anything screwy. Second, you happened to be in town, and in a place infamous for being a big arena, I figured I might actually make good on all those promises of wrangling you to not-quite-death. Third, there's a mare with a shotgun that she thinks has my name written on it after I pissed her off on the train platform for whatever reason. If her reaction is anything to go on, that fight'll be up soon."

"And... finally, I've decided it's high time I ended my servitude to the princesses via the only way allowed. Getting kinda boring in Equestria, and my other acquaintances have laughed at me for being plane-bound for too long. So, in this extradimensional space, I'm going to be... practicing. And then I'm going to punch the princesses in the face. Granted, I'll probably be walloped at least once in return, but claiming victory over them- even if it's not actual death- will be enough to let me take a break for a while. Magic bindings aren't too good on allowing time off." He shrugged. "At least I don't have to wear that stinkin' skull while I'm walking around anymore."

"But enough about me. What are you doin' here? Last I checked, you were off on one of your 'journey of discovery' kicks, and then you completely disappear from Equestria. I guess that's you coming here, then?"
