gaming Most Epic Boss Fight.

I'm sure there are plenty of more epic boss fights out there, but I'm saying Dark Gaia, the final boss from my favourite game Sonic Unleashed (it's an unpopular opinion). The music and the different sections of gameplay all fit so well with each other, and it's not really like any other Sonic boss fight I've seen. There are two stages to it and three different styles of gameplay, and whilst one is basically just dodging thrown boulders and quick-time events, the others are completely amazing in my opinion! I won't go into too much detail, but when you're fighting such a giant, hideous beast, the music and everything is just ridiculously atmospheric. It's also a very cinematic boss fight, with plenty of scenes with beautiful graphics. But man, the music...

Haven't played the game, but the boss looks pretty cool.

Jubileus from Bayonetta. You are literally fighting a god that shoots galaxies at you, alters your environment at the snap of a finger, is gigantic, and you end it with an epic punch in the face. Of course, this being Bayonetta, this punch, along with pretty much everything else in the game, is over the top. This completely normal punch out involves punching Jubileus, a freakin' god, past all of the planets in the solar system, so she smashes into the sun. To top it off, you have to destroy all of her burning pieces in the sun while epic music is playing.

Also the final boss of Pacifist in Undertale is one of the most epic, emotionally heart-wrenching bosses I've ever battled. It's a huge spoiler from a recent game so i'm not giving any details, just that it is one of the most well-put-together bosses in gaming (godly feels, music, and climax), even though it's a very easy boss. You cannot lose.

Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

The End in Metal Gear Solid 3 is waaaaay up there for me. That fight is pure bliss. No majorly intense music, no over-the-top cutscenes, just a pure sniper battle, where you have to track him and everything. It is intense, atmospheric and so very fun. Metal Gear Solid in general has some of the best bosses in gaming ever so I wanted to pick just one, so I don't list just 90% of them. XD

Another one is Sephiroth, specifically from Kingdom Hearts 1. It was hilarious how you get to the last tournament level, and he just appears. Out of nowhere. He doesn't say anything either, he just appears, his music flares up and he basically looks at you like "Yeah, you are gonna die." And die you most likely will, that fight is brutal, but ohhhhh soooo satisfying when you finally beat him.

Another great epic boss fight would have to be Korra vs Hundun in the Legend of Korra Video Game (for PC and consoles)

Say what you will about the game, but you can't deny that it has one heck of a final boss,  Especially when you get to the final quick time events.

I'd have to say Lich King in Icecrown Citadel in World of Warcraft. The fight is really fun and finally taking down Arthas is satisfying. Even if I've beaten him 30 times solo. The RP moments are good, though.

And Dr Eggman in Doomsday Zone in Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I think that speaks for itself.

Since I have become a fan of Dark Souls since my initial post, I need to mention what I consider the best boss in that series:

Artorias the Abysswalker

This is textbook definition of how to make a perfect boss fight. A boss that is very difficult, yet designed totally fair. A boss that has a purpose for existing and an important place in the lore but also has their own mysteries. A boss that is beatable but in no way is made to look weak for being defeated, as he is fighting you in a severely weakened state, even fighting you with his off hand. This seems to heavily imply that if Artorias was at full strength, the player character would have no chance in hell of defeating him which is such a great method of establishing just how strong he is. All of this wrapped up in a tragic setting for Artorias himself and you learn how he is actually a hero. He also gives context to a boss in the base game, as Artorias was introduced in the single DLC made for Dark Souls 1. This isn't even mentioning his amazing design. The only thing that sucks is, to me, Artorias and the lore surrounding him is the only good thing in that DLC. Everything else from the very first boss in the DLC to Manus, is crap, in my opinion. Even still, Artorias makes it all worth it.
