How would you feel about a Pegasus or Earth pony villain?

Surely, staff can think up ways to make them a real threat, and also have it so one of the other 5 ponies- or Sike, can save the day. Not just Purplesmart.

How would you think up ways for earth and pegasus ponies to be a threat to the mane 6, and Equestria?

Think we'll see earth and pegaus villain for season 6?

An Earth villain, a major one, would be really interesting. I would love to see one that maybe manipulates politics, he/she is a mastermind at causing corruption in the background, manipulating Equestria to how they want it to be. Maybe controlling food, or something similar. I think an Earth Pony villain would have the potential to be a lot more crafty since all the other villains pretty much use magic.

Or, what he/she lacks in magic, he/she makes up for in brute strength.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing an earth pony succeeding, in a sense, where SG failed, and turning Twilight's friends away, with silver tongued, manipulation tactics, and having them help with their evil (or rather morally grey) cause, though their own free choice. Pinkie and AJ, specifically, on the villain side. This would also make the spirits of friendship useless againstthe villain, and the others having the work cut out for them with not just bringing a villain to their senses, but also, their former friends.

Well, if either an earth pony or a pegasus should be a major antagonist, I think the writers should make him/her rely on more resources and being strategically gifted. Otherwise they would be just douches and nuisances we see all the time in the middle of seasons

Considering that villains are abusing their gift of magic, it shouldn't be that difficult to have Earth or Pegasus abuse other gifts.

MLP version of The Master for an Earth Pony.

A villain Pegasus could be a super level Pegasus with the power output of several Pegasus.

An evil pony with Fluttershy's gift to communicate with creatures and the stare, can use that to control dangerous creatures for their own gain. Like a freaking fire breathing dragon terrorizing some area.

I would love it, particularly an Earth pony villain! @@Kyoshi's idea is great, a manipulative villain would be a wonderful addition to the rogue gallery.

An "Evil Dragon Master Pony" could kidnap Spike, reveal some things about his species, and turn him against the Mane 6.

A business pony using AJ's apples to make a really unhealthy product.

I don't really know.

Also it's not like they would stay a villain for very long anyways, as they would very predictably end up being reformed and pardoned of any and all long term consequences of their crimes against equestria and what have you.

But an earth pony "villain" could be interesting if he/she was the manipulative type and focused on social inequality or something.

I think they could stay evil. Mlp has always gone against the sgatus qu, and while "friendship is magic" is the thdme of the show, just look at Flip and glam, Vhrysalis (thogh she wasn't really evil, just a mom desperately trying to feed her subjects by any means necessary), Tirek, Sombra....none of them got the friendship reformation.

I'd really like this. Personally I'd go with a Pegasus since it has a build in explanation on how a pegasus could defeat powerful unicorn. Basically you'd have the villain read up on old Pegasus history which is very warrior based and you can use that as to why the villain is able to beat a unicorn and why they really don't now is because they old history on that was lost. Also it would give them a chance to confirm pegasus can airbend! (Personal head canon)

Earth pony would be really interesting too, have them be a ton more manipulative and cunning, basically a villain who works well from the shadows and creates distractions in order to get what they want.

Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

Oh I would love a Pegasus or a Griffin villain. Maybe a society of isolated pegasus and griffins that live on a floating island.

Their lack of Earth ponies that can make food for them drives them to attack and kidnap ponies from Equestria.

The villain would be named Prince Atlas, ruler of Skyhalla~! WINGS UNITED!!!

A non-unicorn pony villain would be a very refreshing pick. The idea of some random unicorn getting their hooves on old artefacts of power to further their own ends is getting a bit stale. (sorry Trixie and Starlight)

Personally, I'd love to see an earth pony or pegasus criminal mastermind, running a secret organisation from the shadows, not unlike Moriarty and Blofeld. One could make a whole season, starting with the Mane 6 fighting some decent miniboss and finding a clue that they were working for someone. Thorought the season, some minor and major occurences would lead them to the crimelord, one thwarted evil plan at a time. Of course the finale would be a some kind of showdown, complete with passionate villanious speeches about how they believed they were benefitting Equestria with their morally unacceptable acts. It would be nice if they stayed evil, or atleast unredeemed but powerless, but some reasonable redemption would be fine too, I guess.

Actually, as many others have said, I think this is a good idea. It would be intresting and unique to have a earth pony or pegasi villain, somepony like that would really stand out from the crowd of Unicorns or Magical Ponies that have got some magic they can use for crimes.

Lets face it, everypony. It's just boring have a villain who is always a unicorn or magical beast. This could be used as a way for the villain to be crafty, and be able to just be seen as a normal pony, when they're not.

I love the idea, I defiently think Hasbro should consider this.

It would be pretty refreshing, but I do not see how a pegasus or a earth pony could ever be a threat really.

They have no magic, and without magic there is no threat from them since any unicorn can just telekenisis them off the ground and render them helpless with a simple weak binding spell.

We are long overdue for an evil dragon villain. A lot story potential there.

No, sorry-but it has been fully established that every dragon in the entire world is a pussy.

No, really, they are all pussies and the only ones that are even remotely tough only act like it because they are immature and think acting tough is cool. It was well established when spike went to go hang out with those dragons and how we saw fluttershy yell at that gaint red dragon and made him cry.

Dragons are chumps in equestria. It's sad yes, but it is the truth. We will never get a good dragon. If another bad one cones along, it will be a push over- Believe it lol.

I think an Earth Pony villain could be really interesting. It could offer something a lot more interesting rather than another powerhungry god-like unicorn

Pegasus might be a little more difficult to pull off being a major villain(the Earth pony could rally up support for being "disadvantaged", they can do some Amon-like shit or something, possibilities are endless). Pegasi are a bit more on the middle ground, but I'm sure someone could come up with a good idea

I'm all for the idea, a master of deception or a brilliant genius relying on brains rather than magic. An Earth Pony, revolting against Celestia's rule, declaring her incompetent and the monarchy corrupt, and demands justice and equality for his/her fellow kind on the throne.

We should have an Earth Pony villain who has some kind of bizarre magical ability regardless of not possessing a horn. Like, Elemental Control over an element or something. Zecora isn't a unicorn and she has some form of magic as we've seen a few times, so it's not impossible.

There has been a non-unicorn villain but she wasn't very prominent for the season she was in. Her name was Maneiac, you know, this horse

For an earth pony, Dr. Caballeron kinda shows us how such a villain could operate. Knowledge of arcane artifacts and pony history, money, connections, influence, goons, he literally has everything you need for such a villain. Though you’d probably want someone more like Kane (Tiberium) or Lulu (Code Geass) to fight such a vastly superior enemy.

For a physically more capable character that such a pegasus would likely be, you can go in the hardboiled mercenary Big Horse direction. However, spells do beat everything, including ranged weaponry like crossbows, thus such character would be required to use a bit more unorthodox methods. How many of you got that gurgling feeling in your stomachs when you read the name Teemo? He may be small, he may be fluffy, but his methods, modified with canon substances found in Equestria and supported with some extra ninja tools, could handle even an alicorn princess.

Eh, in the end, I still prefer a griffon for a non-magical pony-size villain. They can do all of the above but better since they’re predators, have opposable thumbs, and are naturally selfish. Better still, these guys have been living in a sprawling ghetto for who knows how long. Griffonstone is like every crime-infested comic book city ever. Think of the possibilities. There’s probably even a griffon out there who thinks that it’s Celestia who has failed this kingdom.

Yeah, like Nightmare muffin posted, unless they do some SERIOUS justification for the earth pony or pegasi's abilities, it'll really seem hard to swallow for alot of fans for the pony in question to have magical abilities even on par with starlight glimmer, and for all her power she's still not really on par with threats like Nightmare moon/Discord/tirek (She had to use the table as a power source for her spell after all).

I mean, we have no precedent of any earth ponies possessing any truly threatening magic, with the most we've seen being maud and pinkie punching boulders. which is cool, but its not like they're the incredible hulk and able to tank magical blasts with invulnerability.

The highest level pegasi abilities we've seen, on the other hand, are Zapp from power ponies, which is more believable, but explicitly a comic book character with an artifact (her necklace) to give her her powers.

now, it could work though if they did something like having them be some sort of ancient master of their race who was sealed in time stasis or something and explaining that the ponies in the past had greater magic than those of the present like alot of fantasies use. But past that, you'd generally have to give them an artifact if you want them to be more than a nuisance to somepony like Twilight.
