spoiler [SPOILERS] Starlight and Starswirl?

No, it's not what it looks like. This isn't a crazy conspiracy about how they're related, but it is something interesting nonetheless.

 

In the season premiere, we seen Starlight using some form of spell involving Cutie Marks. In the Season 3 finale, we know that Starswirl's Cutie Mark spell was incomplete. However, here we have Starlight able to create a fully functional Cutie Mark-related spell (even if it's of a different sort.)

 

In the the finale that just came out, she's able to completely alter Starswirl's time spell and make it way more effective.

 

I'm not sure if the following season will expand on it, but I think it's interesting how Starlight is perfecting all of these incomplete, imperfect spells. Just imagine how it'd be if she improved these types of spells for the good of Equestria.

 

Just my thoughts, I'm not necessarily making a final point, but I thought it was interesting enough to warrant a discussion.

Well, the OP said this wasn't a theory about them being related, but of course that doesn't mean they couldn't be.  Maybe they are.  That would be....really awesome, actually.  Like wow.  REALLY awesome.

Starlight does seem to be able to do some of the most advanced spells in the world.  What I'd like to see is a showdown between Starlight and Trixie, with Trixie wearing the alicorn amulet, and then Starlight just zaps it and vaporizes it, which I have a feeling she could do.

 

I do hope we see more of Starlight, and see her put her powers to good use.  Man, Discord, Diamond, and now Starlight all good?  That's like... ...well, it's like something.  The good guys are massing quite the army of converted villains.  Who the hell can stand against them now?

 

Ooh, kind of tangential, but I think there could be some AMAZING interactions between Starlight and Discord.  I really want to see those two meet up.

She can't reuse it anymore. The moment Starswirl's scroll disappeared into that time portal she could not longer time travel again. She mentioned that Starswirl did most of the work so she only altered it slightly so she can't recreate it anymore.

 

But I'll give you this. Their names are similar. Starswirl and Starlight.

Out of the canon characters, those three are the only ones that we know have magic-oriented talents.

But Trixie only has a pretend magic-oriented talent, right?  (Half-joking)  But compared to the 'light gals, Trixie's kinda pathetic.  It would be like inviting a kid with a Spirit Halloween costume to join The Avengers.  Hey, imagine this--Starlight wearing the Alicorn Amulet!  Be abut like Gandalf wearing the One Ring I'd imagine.

Trixie still has the most visually impressive magic. She could be the trickster/decoy of the group.

Could be that they're related, it certainly would be very interesting if they were actually related.

Would it really mean anything though? Twilight isn't related to anybody special as far as we know, and she's still powerful. Unless it would be part of some deeper plot, I don't see them randomly mentioning it. The idea that stuff like that is inherited kinda makes me "eeeeh" as well.

I'm now convinced that she's Starswirl's descendant.  Did anyone else notice that Starlight's cutie mark is a star with like a swirly thing around it?  Her f*cking cutie mark is a f*cking starswirl....just saying.
