I know it's just an oversight but they could of put an altered timeline during Cutie Re-Mark where the world has changed the ponies to G1 or G3 ponies. That would of been freaky and funny. It would also pay homage to people that watched those other generations.

I would find that to be a great idea. 

 

At least, i ( who is a fan of the older gens ) would have been very very happy to see the older generations getting mentioned. 

 

Also it would give tribute to the older fanbase as well, who started creating the first fan group of My Little Pony years before Bronies existed. Edit :  I just noticed you already said that...well, i still keep it in my post, because otherwise my post feels to short.

Also Rainbow Dash is a fashionista in one of those generations... imagine Twilight's surprise at her behavior in this new timeline.

Well, I don't see how preventing Dashie's sonic rainboom would have occasioned the meeting of previous gens . If we see an actual alternate timeline episode, instead of altering the past and watching the consequences, I think it would be a nice cameo

We're getting into treating timelines as alternate realities here instead of timelines.


If we want the mane six to meet the G1 timeline or G1 versions of themselves, you'd want them to be crossing over via the mirrors, since the comics state that the EQG mirror is just one of many portals to alternate realities made by starswirl.
