spoiler Chrysalis's actions are counter productive

So we've seen her lead her army against ponies on two occasions now, one in the canterlot wedding and two in the alternate timeline in the season finale. Her goal is to feed off the love of the ponies and sustain her hive, however her complete lack of empathy towards ponies has probably doomed her subjects, especially considering the glaring answer to all of her peoples problems.

Equestria is a place saturated in love, and its rulers, especially its newest pretty purple princess, has a perchance for forgiving enemies any other ruler would have imprisoned or worse. Its a virtual smorgasbord, and All Chrysalis would have to do to give her subjects a comfortable living is one simple thing

Form an alliance with Twilight Sparkle

There is nothing in the lore as of yet that says the changelings feeding on love necessarily causes harm to other ponies, in fact they seem to just need to be around them to feed. Yet their attacks on ponies only cause them to panic, and keeping them in dungeons like in the alternate timeline would just cause the ponies wealth of love to diminish, thus wasting all those valuable resources for the changelings in the process.

Making an alliance with Princess Twilight would not only give her hive everything they could ever need, Chrysalis would gain a crap ton of power out of this deal, as the power she derived from just a couple ponies was enough to make her surpass an alicorn like Celestia. She wouldn't even need to be friends with Twilight per say, political alliances rarely need more than civil interaction and adhering to their mutual deal.

Chrysalis needs to get over herself and wise up to this opportunity, its a power move that would place her in a very prominent position in equestria, not just some roaming starving hive of menacing changelings. We already have at least one Changeling who has figured this out if the hundredth episode is any indication.

Maybe it's because Bugbutt makes her decisions through a bloated hubris like many common villains. As such, I don't think she can handle the responsibilities and raw power that comes with siphoning the love from Equestria's population, regardless of whether or not the love extraction is harmless.

That's just me though.

That's what evil is, the easy way out. Chrysalis wants more than food for her subjects, it's all about her and changeling supremacy, she has no interest in peace and cooperation. I always wondered what happened if all the love was drained from a pony. Only way I can see the changelings getting an infinite love supply, is stimulating the ponies so love keeps flowing. Or they can harness the tree of harmony... Friendship Is Magic. What connotates with friendship? Love. I hope they don't reform the changelings, I have moved passed the hive mind mentality and maybe not all changelings are evil.

The problem with this is that a changeling must be loved by the donor with the same kind of affection given between lovers. Princess Cadence spoke about the changeling as a being that changes into a pony that is loved and take the love that was meant for the original. In no question you can't fake love to another you don't love and for changelings they would be feeding on empty air.

The (stupid) comics say something different. Changelings can just take the love from their victims, which makes the tv episode invalid...which makes the whole shapeshifting unnecessary...which...bleh i just stop.

I think that's what the other changelings would do, like their queen. They would be hypnotic toward their prey and simulate a pony's lover in order to feed.

I don't think that's the case. If so, why didn't Chrysalis just drain Twilight dry instead of talking to her and engaging in a fight. Some emotion provoking must be used... I doubt they just suck love from no where.

Exactly, They literally don't need to go under cover because they can just feed by being around them, and I'm sure that there is a way that they could get fed without causing any undo stress to ponies. Being invaders and attacking their food source is the worst course of action they could possibly take. Meanwhile their shapeshifting abilities would be a tremendous asset to Twilight and the princesses, especially if they ever went to war with another country. That'd be one heck of a pitch to accept an alliance.

This could be the case, but if Twilight did the whole reformation thing with her most of those problems would at least diminish. You would have to have a situation where Chrysalis would be willing to listen, like say a mutual enemy of Ponies and Changelings, but it could work.

Katie Cook, one of the IDW writers for the comic loves Chrysalis and Sombra and she wants to expand on their characters since DHX won't. I think they drain love on the fly, because Cook had to have tension for a short for issues. It's not her fault. IDW's maximum story arcs for adventures are four issues. That's one thing about the comics I'm unsatisfied with. While the comics are fun to read, these stories need to be longer.

Chrysalis being reformed wouldn't work, since she's not evil, and doing what she's doing for selfish, vill a in gain

She's just trying to feed thousands of hungry mouths

If tring to sustain your race is evil, then the ponies have a serious problem in their mindset

Did you read my original post? She is trying to feed her hive sure, but her lack of empathy towards ponies is ultimately being counter productive towards her efforts. Like I said in the initial post, forming an alliance with Twilight would just be a win win situation for her, because then they would have access to their food source of love without having to fight them and they could live in peace. They don't take love away from what I understand, they just feed on being around it, so going to war with ponies makes no sense what so ever.

If Chrysalis gets reformed ughhhh

I'll be mad if they do. The song Aria is what Chrysalis is all about. She's selfish, manipulative. radiating with negative energy and evil. The thought of friendship would make Chrysalis vomit. Same with Sombra and Tirek.

That's the point though with evil actions, evil people always think what they're doing is justified.

Yes, Chrysalis is pretty bad, and reformation probably wouldn't really be in the equation, but that doesn't take away my point. Her hive WOULD benefit from an alliance with ponies instead of being at war with them. Who knows though, maybe it won't be Chrysalis that extends that hand of friendship, but detracting Changelings that see what I'm talking about, there is at least ONE that isn't out to attack ponies if the 100th episode is any indicator.
