Azureth 687 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 After I first watched the episode I looked it up and sure enough many species of Turtles do, indeed hibernate. I knew Bears did but never knew Turtles did as well. Even in Silver Quill's review of the episode he didn't know and was surprised. Just curious if it is a pretty widely known thing or if anyone else here found that out thanks to that episode. MLP teaching me something new every day!
Stormlight 1,371 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 Well, you know what they say... But yes, it was a surprise to learn that many other animals hibernate 3 Credit for signature goes to Eazyfries

Sidral Mundet 1,666 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 I think it's technically something different since turtles and tortoises are cold blooded and hibernation seems to relate to warm blooded animals but the idea is still the same. Also I had no idea they went though that process either. 2 Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

chirox the pony 1,336 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 I might have done. That didn't shock me in the slightest. No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.
cider float 2,539 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 Already knew how many animals do in the winter, plants do it to in another way.
sweetolebob18 728 December 25, 2015 Share December 25, 2015 Well, I knew they were reptiles & thus cold blooded. & I knew most cold blooded critters aren't active in Winter. But, fish are cold blooded & they don't hibernate. (Or if they do, ice fishing is even dumber than I thought) So, no I didn't know that but it didn't surprise me. They don't hibernate but they do slow down their functions to save their energy. They need that energy to heat their bodies up. Carl Poppa 464 December 26, 2015 Share December 26, 2015 I knew that many animals do, just didn't know turtles/tortoises were among them. But then, I have only researched certain animals, so, it's not really been in the knowledge base I've been accessing.
azbat 309 December 26, 2015 Share December 26, 2015 Rainbow Dash was right, turtles do not hibernate. Everyone knows they live in the sewers.
