Did anyone else not know that Turtles hibernate before Tanks for the Memories?

After I first watched the episode I looked it up and sure enough many species of Turtles do, indeed hibernate. I knew Bears did but never knew Turtles did as well. Even in Silver Quill's review of the episode he didn't know and was surprised. Just curious if it is a pretty widely known thing or if anyone else here found that out thanks to that episode. MLP teaching me something new every day! :)

I think it's technically something different since turtles and tortoises are cold blooded and hibernation seems to relate to warm blooded animals but the idea is still the same.  Also I had no idea they went though that process either.

Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

Well, I knew they were reptiles & thus cold blooded.  & I knew most cold blooded critters aren't active in Winter.  But, fish are cold blooded & they don't hibernate.  (Or if they do, ice fishing is even dumber than I thought)

So, no I didn't know that but it didn't surprise me.

I had no frigging clue about that, since well the turtle I have lives in a hot country and never seemed to hibernate

They don't hibernate but they do slow down their functions to save their energy.

They need that energy to heat their bodies up.
