I guess the real problem here is... what do we consider "classic"?

Because there are several ps2/xbox era games that are cult classics nowadays, and, while most of us near the 30's might consider them not so old since we probably were teens when we played with them, truth is it's been nearly two decades since those consoles came out to the market.

Besides, there are some early 2010's games that are considered classics nowadays  as well, such as Skyrim and Dark souls.

It is actually a weird game. I am not sure what it is exactly, but the movement felt off.

And I think like every single weapon feels boring?

It is so weird I can't even put it into words

You played the classic version, the one from the PS2/Xbox (the first Xbox) era?

Star Control II, it's a hidden gem. I actually played the PC port called "The Ur-Quan Masters". It's a game from 1992, but it feels much more recent. It's primarily a game about space exploration, kind of like an ancient EVE Online, with a huge map with tons of planets, secrets, and resources to gather. But the campaign has a lot of aliens to talk to, which you interact with in sort of a Fallout or Mass Effect style menu. The combat is a top-down arcade shooter, and the variety of different ships the game offers is stunning, allowing you to build a fleet around the ships you're best with or the best ships to suit the occasion. Truly ahead of its time.

Super Mario World was honestly just a game that really made an impact on me and has definitely held up well even now. It's the kind of game I can just always go back to and replay and in some ways I've grown more appreciation towards it's design and structure in general. Yoshi's Island isn't too far behind though.

I also remember playing the shit out of the classic Sonic games, particularly 2, on the DS via the Classic Collection so there's that too.
