I,wonder why people,like this Haven't seen either of them, but I've actually heard the Barbie internet cartoon is actually alright, and I can see the appeal behind MH(even RebelTaxi supposedly likes it) Though I think there's a different appeal behind EQG, as they seem to draw inspiration from magical girl anime like Sailor Moon Bratz still sucks though Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's what makes it so much more popular among the periphery demographic, I guess. This is the closest it'll get to I suppose but I didn't think they would actually do it. Still nothing like anime girls though it does take on the magical girl genre. They didn't do a great (or even good, come to think of it) job in the first movie, but Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games were both relatively solid, and for me justified the spin off's existence. I probably wouldn't have gotten into it if I didn't already like the show, I must admit, but after RR, I accept it as a worthwhile effort to move the franchise towards a slightly older demographic. 1 Happy minion of The Fabulous One! I haven't a clue but the movies, I find it so much more appealing because they are human, it makes them so much more relateable vs ponies, I can see myself in characters shoes a whole more more when they're actually shoes and not hooves, and they can/have actual human problems instead of pony ones, which don't get me wrong the show is ok and all, but it isn't much of a grab when you're seeing a bunch of ponies do things. Barbie (though her new show I've seen a couple of episodes while babysitting did crack a few jokes at their own expense and I really liked that..) is overall garbage. Both the toys are still better and higher quality to the Equestria Girls toys. It's the personality, the music and animation quality that sets it apart. Nightfall Gloam 18,265 December 31, 2015 Share December 31, 2015 The appeal Equestria Girls has to me, personally would have to be the fact that everything in Equestria Girls takes place in an alternative universe (I am obsessed with the idea of alternate universes), then there is obviously Sci-Twi and Sunset Shimmer, who are in my top 2 favourite characters from the movie series (I actually find the former more relatable than her Equestrian counterpart). Seeing the characters as our own species is also (kind of) appealing, I'll admit. 1 Aspiring animator/illustrator, founder of MLPF's Lighthoof and Shimmy Shake fan club! She does want more EQ Girls stuff though, but I limited her to one of each for Christmas (MH and EQ) and she chose Rarity I think to kids the appeal is quite similar, MLP in general is a better quality franchise though and at least has the benefit of the fact that when the kids ask for something I know exactly what they're talking about. Monster High itself is ok, but I wouldn't choose to watch it, and will generally be doing something else if the kids watch it.
