general Liberal or Conservative?

Just remember that every media outlet has their own agenda, no exceptions.  No single news source is trustworthy by itself, it's far more important to get your news from a variety of different sources, and to compare and contrast those sources in order to build a balanced picture for yourself.

It's not just that every media outlet has agendas, some are very determined to spread the truth. They're just wrong. You can easily get one person completely confident that the free market can solve nearly every problem and is the way to go, and passionately believe that, and another person who believes socialism can solve nearly every problem and is the way to go, and passionately believe that. But you have to listen to both people to know which aspects of each's arguments are correct.

Definitely liberal. I'm from Chicago, and while we're all violent murderers, as John Mulaney once said, we're all liberal violent murderers.

This is me, according to ISideWith.com. Pretty centrist, but definitely leaning libertarian.

On another note it can get pretty annoying when people spew out certain political standings without knowing what it actually means. I have a whole lot of "liberals" at my school apparently.

Guessing by your sig and avatar, you're probably being sarcastic...But it's impossible to tell.

Sarcastic. I was in a silly mood.

I just took a political spectrum quiz online, and I think it very accurately describes how I feel politically. I am more to the right economically, but when it comes to socially, I am in between the two (Most likely leaning to the left more because, well, I think people should have the right to do what they want to do! JUST DON'T BE ANNOYING ABOUT IT :P).

A bit ironic for my picture and username, eh?

I consider myself a classic liberal-because I believe in ideals such as free speech and freedom of expression and that they must be protected at all costs.

If you're referring to political parties, then right now it's neither-so, I suppose I'd be a libertarian since I'm staunchly opposed to the authoritarian tendencies from both parties when they get too much influence.

I'm certainly more of a proscriber to the 'Cartesian' expression of political thought that the rather ham-fisted and decidedly tribal 'left vs right' mechanic (as easy as that makes things for many).

Here in the UK 'liberal' is generally meant in the classic sense; so more akin to 'libertarian' in other places. Though this is somewhat confused by the Liberal Democrat Party being more on the economic 'left'.

I'd probably describe myself as something along the lines of a 'practical socio-economic liberal/libertarian'. Personal responsibility, self-determination, yadda yadda, though I find I have a general direction to aim for but find rigid principles restrictive (the 'mentality of idealism').

Are you conservative or liberal? Why? I for one am a Conservative.

Not to sound rude, but being a conservative is quite the opposite of MLP's nature. Conservative's do not care about the (at least in the US) rights of individuals they view as different. That is on their social stand points. Now on their economic standpoints, I really don't care what you are.

Conservatives are against the rights of the LGBT, which I find unacceptable in a modernizing society.

Just to make sure I am not labeled as a total liberal, I hate the way SJW and feminists act nowadays. They focus on xreating "equality" by blaming groups of people (such as white people or men) rather than individuals. Generalizing a group as priviledged or opressing is racist/sexist in itself.

Also I am a total liberal when it comes to the War on Drugs. I believe that the war on drugs is 100% un-constitutional, and violates the rights of humans. It is not faur in ANY way, how people are being locked up for LIFE, for causing harm to noone. Granted, some substances may hurt the user, but by that logic alcohol should be highly illegal.

You may think that by taking drugs you're harming no-one but yourself, but next time you hand over a few dollars for a heroin fix take a look at where that money goes.  Bypassing for the moment the criminal organisations in the US, and going straight to the source, a cut of your money ends up in the hands of groups like the Taliban (for example), who then use that money to buy the ammunition and explosives that have been used to kill hundreds of US soldiers.  Buying (and by extension, selling) drugs is not the victimless crime that you think it is.  In addition, a huge proportion of robberies, burglaries and other acquisitive crimes are attributed to drug users trying to get the money to support their habit.

(incidentally, I'm not asserting that you are a heroin user, just using 'you' as an example.)

Maybe if the industry was legalised, then legitimate, non-criminal suppliers could be identified and authorised or approved.  But at the moment that is not the case, so don't even think of suggesting that drug use never harmed anyone.  The 'war on drugs' is perfectly legal, and I would be interested if you could please identify the passage in the constitution that you feel states the contrary.

Haha. Let's feed the cartels with money. Bravo!

Also, if drugs money feeds thr Taliban, legalizing it would end that, as you stated.

While I have a strong interest in politics, I am neither Liberal nor Conservative.

I make my own decisions on what is right and wrong, and what should be done, rather than joining up with a political party, letting personality politics sway me, and letting others do the thinking for me.
