While in character Lektra should and would know this, I feel like if I don't ask you we could have a problem. What did you, our esteemed GM expect to get as her answer? What is acceptable here?

Denim I think you missed my question.

I wasn't quite expecting anything spectacular. Maybe self destruction? Maybe rapidly induced rampancy? Maybe permanent system shutdown and complete hard drive wipe. She can't handle a violation to her own hard wired code of ethics, either psychologically or in a processing capability. Her killing a pony wouldn't compute.  Similar to Asimov's first law.

Of course, feel free to be more detailed, creative and original. .

I was going to say just the inability to to finish the job, or start it if this would be a OHKO. Like say how in fiction no matter how much you want to do something you can't perform that action? She would stop short of actually doing it, or be unable to fire the weapon? Like whatever she tried wouldn't wwork.

I just feel like any of those would be an easy way to basically commit suicide. While yes it would require killing a pony, Luster could use this consequence to deliberately end her own existence too. She already wanted/wants to, so no I don't think so.

Do you think being forcibly unable to actually deal killing blows is too little?

Yeah, it'd be a bit much, cause then she wouldn't really have gotten as far as she did. She would then be afraid of doing anything cause even one wrong placed strike could end a pony. So she would then focus on making herself safer around other ponies, but still trying to find a way to protect them from humanity, which would have been difficult.  All make sense?

And while she can use that as an excuse, just kill a pony and die herself, she would still have to force herself to intentionally do so, which she still can't.

If that's the route you think Lektra would have predicted, then yeah. Her program could go on, if she didn't know she killed a pony. Once she found out, it would be a repeat performance. She wouldn't want to go on.

Yes, a limited and modified variant of Asimov's laws.

  • She cannot kill a pony.
  • Nor allow a pony to die through inaction. Unless she is certain they can survive in their present circumstances, she'll see to it that they're saved. That time she broke Emerald in half? Dropped her off at Ponyville general right after.
  • Protect her own existence, as long as it doesn't compromise the first two.

That's why she's so motivated to protect Equestria. In her eyes, not taking a preemptive strike against humanity would be seen as a violation of her second law.

Why are humans not exempt? The scientists on Earth's end figured other humans would be the most likely threat to Equestria. So they would allow Luster to use lethal force if it meant saftey for both worlds. That and her human brain scans allowed her the propensity for violence and ease at taking human lives. Who hates humans more than other humans? While ponies aren't so at ease with taking lives, and that's reflected in Luster's programming. The brain scans leaned towards that rationality, and both sides agreed to that first law.

Yes, VLAD set up a teleport enhancer (since pegasi can't usually teleport lol). When Bee teleports, the bots trace her precise location and transport to it. Feel free to use it whenever you can post, I'll have Bee 'port to the labs.
