Baby foals looks

So, here I am, dying because of a severe case of diabeetus caused by a certain alicorn just revealed yesterday. But it made me think of something: While ponies are different to each other, most of them have a standard body shape in their respective groups, like mares, stallions, fillies and colts, save few exceptions. But baby foals, while their appearances are quite rare, the few times they show up, their looks usually differs from one another. These are the looks we got so far:

 

-Cream Puff look: noticeable snout, not 100% round face

 

-Baby Cakes: Short snout  like older ponies, and rounder faces, but eye shape similar to Cream Puff

 

First baby AJ: noticeable snout like Cream Puff, but rounder. But keeps the eyes of the two above, and the Cake's rounder face

 

Second baby AJ, and Flurry Heart: Similar to the above, but with the drastic difference that they have the eyes of a school-age foal, like the CMCs

 

So, I dunno why the inconsistency of the looks of baby ponies, but I guess we can pick our favorite looks now that we have a baby shower to prepare, right?

 

Mine used to be the Cake Twins, I always loved those big eyes fillies have, so, I'll pick the latest baby pony look

I like the bigger eyes more too. I don't know... They look more like pony eyes and not insect creepy eyes.

 

My guess is that they changed because most people think that bigger eyes make things cuter.

McFlurry is another ballpark, there's a lot more wrong with her design than your typical foal, such as those ridiculously big wings

None. The babies with the button eyes remind me of creepy dolls. The body design is way off. You'd think the artists had never seen a foal in their entire lives.

Princess Flurry Heart's design is cute. G1, G2 and G3 foals are cute. Real foals are cute. Those. Not cute.

The latest design, all the way. The other ones, everything about them is cute except for those eyes. The eyes, I have always hated those creepy, soulless eyes. o_o Now that the age of normal foal eyes is soon upon us, I am really happy for that. Flurry Heart's design is soooo cute and her eyes add to the cuteness rather than detract.

The normal Pony eyes looks more cute than the creepy ugly button eyes (like the cake babies). I never liked them. I am really happy that Flurry Heart has normal eyes and no button eyes.

I don't get why so many think the Cake foals' eyes are creepy when the same kind of eyes are used in the BBBFF song for Twi and Shi, and not one complains about their characters appearing "soulless"?

 

Perhaps it is just that Pound and Pumpkin themselves are creepy because of their preternatural abilities at birth? 

 

Besides, hamsters have the same kind of eyes and they're adorable! Squirrels, too! 

Even sharks have cute eyes, despite what Quint said.  :comeatus:

 

Speaking of the Cake's foals, while I like their eyes, it would be just as well if they resemble Pipsqueak more than their usual models in S6. I mean, it's now 11 months later - don't those two ever age!?

"Soulless" is the perfect word to describe those eyes! Thanks, Kyoshi! 

 

I absolutely hate the baby Cakes' designs. I guess they are supposed to have this Hamtaro-like, chibi look, but... Their head-to-eyes ratio seems off... I mean, the adult ponies are far cuter with their huge eyes! What baby Cakes got is just creepy... Plus the big round heads with almost completely flat muzzles make the baby Cakes look like pugs. Overall, the siblings remind me of balloons with facial features drawn on them. Pretty half assed cuteness-wise, in my opinion.

But the BBBFF sequence was just a temporary art shift... Nothing to get too attached to. The real Twi and Shi are pretty cute, after all! The problem with the Cake foals is that they are stuck with those soulless eyes for good.
