I've made something I've always wanted to make. And it's absolutely and utterly horrible.

 

What is it? My OC in Mugen. A functioning beta with placeholder sprites. Most of his abilities are ok, but a certain one...

 

His Mirror Shield. For the first ten seconds, all damage taken is reflected back to the opponent. After that, he's vulnerable for two seconds, then it's back up again for another two, and the cycle of two seconds repeats.

 

Unfortunately, the AI in Mugen is awful. It's absolutely disgusting, and I don't use such terms lightly. The default AI is a moron that jumps around and uses moves at random. You can program in strings of input for your AI, telling it what combos to use and when, like using a certain move if a foe is a certain distance away, so he typically won't grab at someone ten feet away like a moron. That seems to be it, besides calculating how often your character can block attacks. No intelligent AI capable of figuring out that you shouldn't attack the placeholder-sprited Unicorn with a large blue glowing shield around him using your best and most damaging attacks, and you should wait until it's down.

 

I designed it so he'd have a fair shot at beating anyone, and those that code in OHKO moves would have it become their own downfall. Something for smart opponents to plan around. Instead, it's turned him into a walking easy-mode that utterly trivializes Player VS AI matches. And I can't imagine I'd find many fighting game players willing to say "I'm so good with my character, I'll happily take on yours!", not when the mugen fandom has mainly consumers and the occasional creator, with players almost as rare.

I could only make combo videos of a character like this entertaining if I were to go on the offensive 24/7, never allowing my opponents to get a hit on me. Which wouldn't really fit his theme at all.
