ggg-2 3,553 March 1, 2016 Share March 1, 2016 Being an alicorn prince, my OC is tolerant of being referred to by title, but only on royal occasions. When he's "off-duty" so to speak, he prefers to be called by name. (which i'm currently using my own real name for him until i can come up with a real one) Don't be a nerd. Join the herd! SigmaBrony 34 March 1, 2016 Share March 1, 2016 Mine thinks of them as stuffy and unnecessary. Apart from the case of the Princesses. Just calling them by their name just seems rude
Steel Accord 6,660 March 1, 2016 Share March 1, 2016 One of my OC's is from Canterlot, so he's very formal as to show respect to both his peers and his betters. Β My other OC is not from Canterlot, in fact he's from the counterpart to my birth city Fillydelphia. "The city of brotherly love"Β brotherly love,Β in all the teasing, ball busting, strained, but ultimately sincere affection that implies.Β Β But nevertheless he is also rather formal due to his Shaman training that requires him to learn to communicate with a degree of ceremony and decor that he doesn't quite know how to turn off. MDLineArt 93 March 1, 2016 Share March 1, 2016 Bashful Thread finds it useful, it's a social cue he can try to follow even if he doesn't understand it.Β It helps business and keeps suspicion off him, there's a natural rhythm to these things.Β Formalities makes blending in a lot easier, and if he ever got over his nerves he might actually be enjoyable to be around.Β Of course, this is assuming he's not breaking his own teeth chattering in paranoia over being found out by the ponies of Ponyville, but such is a life of a Changeling living in secret among them. Zeal Crown 196 March 2, 2016 Share March 2, 2016 If I were to ask, I'd say my OC uses other, uh, pony's titles as when just appropriate. The usual princess when speaking to such and the likeliness of them, but the lower ranking government officials who aren't often as recognized, I could imagine her not exactly respecting titles. As for herself, she doesn't care much for the formality of high class life. Thus, when asked, Miss Pristine would seem most appropriate, but she'd get a joy out of just Pristine. Β I love talking about my OC, good thread.
cmarston1 5,959 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 My OC tries to generally be respectful and refers to those with titles such as the princesses when addressing them. But he isn't really interested in high society in places like canterlot and isn't particularly interested in the government.
Kiri 7,289 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 (edited) Quartz is part of the Crystal Guard, so she has been trained to always use formalities when addressing others with titles. Edited March 3, 2016 by Shadow Aegis Β Β Β Β
Yoshi89 5,293 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 None of my OC's are high society so their approach to etiquette varies. Refund Check shows good manners since he's a businesspony. However, when he's by himself in his office he's not above snacking on donuts and guzzling coffee. His wife Ruby Shears is very nosy and tries to stick her head on business. Her husband keeps her stable whenever they go out. Thrillseeker works at an amusement park and usually tolerates haughty ponies at best. He can't stand them. Wax n' Wane 103 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 Wane's not exactly one for titles, but when it is needed, such as addressing the Princesses, he will use them. Β He sometimes will insist on using them, whether it be out of sheer difference of social class, or out of the utmost respect. Β However, in terms of the Canterlot crowd, he could care less- he never understood the importance of formal wear to begin with. Β Wane, at most, wears a nice shirt for a formal gathering. Β Ebb and flow, the power grows. Wax and wane, the power drains. My OC.
Kronos the Revenant 1,971 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 (edited) Kronos doesnt care about formalities despite being the heir to his father's kingdom. He's more of an adrenaline junkie that craves the thrill of battle having been raised in a military society. However, if the setting is appropriate, Kronos would actually pay close attention to his demeanor as well as those of other ponies. He's more than capable of going from soldier to prince in the blink of an eye. Alhough that could be attributed to his Dissociative Identity Disorder. He also respects the princesses too much to not use their titles as he views himself lower than them in his mind. rarishying 4 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 The only OC who would be of any sort of status for formalities would be City Slicker, a detective. She doesn't really get too much of them due to only working in harsh conditions, but she is somewhat flattered when she hears them.
