I did a bunch of searching around and found no topic for this at all, so hopefully I did not miss it if one does exist. XD

Anywho, The Division, MMO style TPS game, it is out now. I played the bet a little bit and wasn't sure what to think, but now that the game is out, I am curious on it. Has anyone played the full game? What are your thoughts on it? Anyone else planning on getting it? Why or why not? We can discuss it. :)

I personally hope this DOES NOT become the next Destiny. I hate that game with a seering passion and everything it stands for.

A Couple of Steam Reviews

"! As of now. Couple of hours in-game.

Cons:
* Servers are very unstable. Progress is lost everytime. No chance of chance of completing a single mission. No offline single player. DC almost every 15-20 minutes.
* AI is weak. Game is not challenging even on hard missions.
* No variety and reaction on enemy hitboxes other than head or gas tank.
* Graphics downgraded from E3
* Regional language lock. As far as I remember it was not stated. No option to buy/upgrade to English version.
* (minor) no player archetypes (e.g. fat/slim/tall etc)
* (minor) very weak face customization
* (not featured, but could be great) no offline single-player

Pros:
* Good first impression
* Great in-game art
* Awesome gear customization

Right now one cannot recommend the game as it is not possible to play.
Will update the review once learn more (if they fix their NOC department ofc) of the game."

I haven't played this game and probably never will, because i saw the user reviews on steam and they criticize this game to death.

Save yourself the 60 bucks, because you can find better games, for less money.

I totally agree with this. xD

I've only played The Division beta, myself.  It was also hard for me to form a solid opinion about it because the world of the beta was largely...  Empty.  There was plenty of space to run around in, but very little, after a point, to do in that space.  It is an extraordinarily detailed-seeming game, though.

They kept out the single player and don't even have co-op? Even free-to-play games like Tf2 have offline options and mods.

I do think there is co-op. From what I know, it is either inviting friends or it can be seemless, others can join you in the battles just by running into them, I think. I don't know much about the game but I think that's the case.

One thing that really put me off, thinking about it: The horrendous review embargo. The fact that Ubisoft did not allow published reviews until the friggin' release day is something that irritates me to no end and because of that action, the reviews are scattered and all over the place, Metacritic has barely applied any reviews to its system at this point, the Xbox One version currently has no applied reviews with scores at all. Are they that unconfident in their product that they must keep reviews at bay until people have already bought the game? Not good.

I played the beta on this game.

And I must say, being a dick in it is extremely fun.

Sticky bomb at the collection point! No revive for you!

At the same time, the community is kinda, well, there's this sense of companionship when you meet a random guy and decide to stick with each other to survive in the dark zone. There are those who go rogue and kill other players, and the game provides incentive for hunting them down. I felt like a black guy when I killed my first few players when everyone on the server started hunting me down. To be fair, I did set my character to be a black guy... Eh whatever.

So far, it's a blast if you have friends or are good at making them, and is fun as well if you're a dick and good at being one. But you probably won't get good at the game unless you spend lots of time on it: loot farming is painful in this game, trust me.

I don't know wan out you guys, but when I payed the beta, the servers were frikkin great.

Actually now that I think about it, I crashed every 45 mins to 30 mins or so. Nothing too destructive. To be fair I was connecting from Singapore so the servers there would be less crowded or something... Idk.

I should also note that this game made me hate consoles even more than I did before. They lowered the graphics settings to make it compatible with consoles.

I want to say something about this. That is actually the fault of Ubisoft, not consoles. Consoles are always gonna be weaker than PC's, this is obvious and Ubisoft should have known this accordingly. They could have kept the graphics settings in the PC version for those that want it but it was their dumb decision.

Another side note, graphics aren't what makes a game fun in the first place.

*adjusts monocle and turns up nose*

High graphics requirements help feed my massive ego as a proud member of the glorious PC master race. The fact that my games have been downgraded for the sake of the lowly unwashed masses of console peasants angers me.

A fellow member of the PCMR has seen the above post and also wishes to comment, and I quote:

""As an educated intellectual I can agree with your honorable point of how graphics doesn't affect game play. However, as a proud member of the glorious PCMR i have to say that graphics is what defines whether a game leaves a lasting impression to the eye. Console peasants who have lived their life buried in the pit of 30fps 900p, I cannot help but to wonder how they stand to present such an intriguing statement that argues in which the human eye cannot see above 30fps. The PCMR has and will always reign above the console in turns of raw horsepower, here and then. And may I do repeat that such actions by Ubisoft is absolutely intolerable and that other game developers can learn from such a flaw"

Well, I haven't played much of The Division yet, and before I get lectured on the cost, I got the PC version with my new GTX 980 free. I've played it a little, haven't tried online yet though. I do say so far it's been kind of easy. AI needs work, at least at this point in the game, I don't need to even go out into danger to win against most of the enemies. Blind firing, especially when they get close, is sort of a free win for me.

EDIT: Keep in mind I'm VERY VERY early on right now, I'll post again when I get further on!

Well i'll be the nice review on here, I have finished the game and I am currently hunting for Gold gear in the Dark Zone and well I can't really fault the game it's a tone of fun...BUT, it's an MMO to a degree so some of the quests are the same bear that in mind but that dose not bother me.

I can say that after palying the game for some time, though I am only level 11 right now, the game is actually quite good. While it is not as much of an MMO as I would have liked, since others aren't walking aorund in the overworld except the Dark Zone which I have not had a chance to do since my level is...not level enough.

There are some MMO qualities that don't work so well, like bullet sponge bosses, some terrible enemy AI, and some other things, but there is actually a lot of stuff here that is done well. The city looks fantastic, the many variables in the game are nice because it gives you a lot to do, and the gunplay overall is pretty good. Not the best TPS I have played but it works just fine.

This is with me mostly playing the game alone, except for the bigger missions where I matchmake with others.

Forewarning: I was warned at GameStop that apparently you need the season pass to access a lot of the multi-player content. So that is another bit of cash you have to drop on top of the $60 and it forces EVERYONE to buy the game new. So that already leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Then I see Ubisoft's logo on it, and that just makes it worse. Review wise, it's getting mixed reviews, so I am going to avoid it.

There is no local co-op to my knowledge.

It's all good.

Also can I just say: is it really fair to accredit Tom Clancy? I mean he has been dead for years and accrediting stuff to him is more or less putting his reputation on the line. So if The Division sucks, it kind of looks bad on him to those who do not realize he was dead when the game came out years from now. Tom Clancy's name is more or less being used as a franchise. I mean maybe he signed and agreement or something that let them continue to use his name, but still it's kind of a crappy thing to do even if he agreed to it. Considering using his name implies he helped write it, and there is no way he helped write the game.

They should put it was "inspired" by Tom Clancy.

I've been playing on xbox one, and so far I haven't had any abrupt disconnections. A bit of lag, but that's probably due to my crap wifi. I like it so far. I like how you only see other players in safe houses or the Dark Zone, because I like to play on my own. At first, the enemies weren't too hard, but the Cleaners really kept me on my toes. You could definitely do worse then The Division.

I'm only level 25, hindered by lazy friends needing to catch up, but I love it.

There is occasionally some fatal lag that may get you killed, and almost as rare are are the disconnects. I've had about 3 of each, so far, and I've played several hours a day, every day, since launch. They're becoming less frequent the longer it's out.

Overall, far superior to Destiny. As long as Ubisoft does what Bungie failed to do, and sticks to their words and plans for this game, it will stay amazing.

If anyone has it on Xbox One, hit me up, I need more players. :derp:

I rented it and played it for two days. Now I must say I was on PS4 when I did this and I am not all that great with giving my point without contradicting myself but:

It's an interesting story taking place after a virus outbreak that destroyed New York but instead of being cliche Zombies and shit it's more like fend for your self. You are tasked along with others to try and bring NY back to how it was before the outbreak trying to help people in need and help people from these guys known as cleaners. The game plays starts you in a tutorial area to help you get used to the game before you are sent into the actual world where lots of stuff can happen. Now I haven't gotten much into the game but I can say this

Pros:

-To me the combat is okay save for the difficulty can be a bit unfair at times

-Guns being able to be modded is of course a usual thing but these mods can range from being able to get you more exp from head shots to even just being stealthy if you want.

Cons

-Dark Zone being pvp oriented is great and all...but sometimes it cant help that people will group up in large groups and go after the ones in small groups making getting anything done in the Dark Zone difficult

-Cover system has its flaws. At times you can be in cover and you'll still be shot at or the enemies with guns will just rush you making you get out of cover and get shot by the others.

-Playing with others is almost needed because it gets really boring playing by yourself

Again not good at reviews but that is what I have to say from what I have played

I just want to say that there are two types of people who play The Division. People who obsessively close every car door, and dirty liars.

Decided to get the game, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit.  Been playing with a friend; hit the level 30 cap recently and spent some time in the Dark Zone.  I don't normally care much for shooters, but The Division is fairly kind to people like myself.  Despite having been under-leveled for several missions, there was still something I could contribute.  I didn't feel like that playing Destiny; I felt utterly worthless and incompetent much of the time in that game. xD  And I genuinely enjoy the fact that enemy AI can be stupid and easily confused.  I'm glad the enemy AI isn't perfect and all-knowing; something like that would ruin the combat for me.

I always have a marksman rifle (not something I ordinarily go for in shooters) and either a submachine gun or light machine gun.  I have the healing signature, the standard healing ability that potentially over-heals (I really like over-heal), and the flashbang variety of the sticky bomb (it's almost too useful).

One of my favorite little details is how your character will reach out and close doors you slide past while clinging to the vehicle for cover.

The game is gorgeous, one of the few games that actually makes use of the technology currently available to present us with the most stunningly detailed city seen in a game thus far. As a technical achievement, its fantastic, a show piece. The combat system is a hit or miss depending on how you feel about bullet sponge enemies in MMOs and the skill system is pretty decent in how it encourages people to create some interesting builds like my current 'flanker' build.

I've only experienced two main downsides to my time in the game (40-50 hours) so far.

Firstly is the end game content. It's pretty scarce right now, though I expected that. End game content usually comes out steadily after a games initial release so Im hoping the future expansions do well in expanding the world and the activities within. Until then, there's not much to do.

Lastly is the dark zone. I love the idea of the dark zone but in practice it doesn't work. Everyone Is too scared to go rogue due to the massive loss of experience you get if you get gunned down. The rewards for surviving a rogue status are nothing compared to the punishments given for dying while under the status. Im glad that the devs have responded by saying they plan on fixing it in the next update so we'll see if that helps. If it does, then the dark zone could be a hell of a lot more fun.

I have it on PC. I'm currently lvl 18 and have not been into the Dark Zone to much. Though I have to say, the game is interesting and graphics and everything in the game is beautiful.
However. In my experience so far. (Since I use a Nvidia card) Nvidia had a crap driver update recently causing me to have to swap cards to roll back the driver. And have no idea if they fixed that yet.
But what I am getting at with that is, there is some parts in the game on the map that have some serious graphic glitches. It could just be me due to having a lack of an updated driver but it could still be the game.
My one friend has an ok computer and has a lot of trouble running it.

But other then some technical stuff here and there. I think its a good game.
I dont see it anywhere near like Destiny.
Though in the DZ it can be fun (Was in beta) But there can be a lot of people going rouge. Or people who is there to ruin your fun.
But thats up to the player who they want to play as. I have no problem of those being rouge or anything. But if their being a complete jerk on the mic about it while being rouge, can be very annoying.
But I havnt run into that when I was in the DZ a few times. So I guess it depends on the instances.

But the missions can be very fun and encounters can also be very repetitive but some can be fun.

Playing the game with friends also add the benefit of fun, better then solo most times.

Thats basically what I have to say about it. :)
