gaming Sorely needed features for Pokemon

Not just Sun/Moon, but in every game that follows

(Disappointed I have seen NO ONE think of this)

First- an egg incubator item. This needs to happen. I'm sick of breeding and filling up my party with 5 eggs and a Flame Body incubator, and aving my fighting team sit in the pc boxes. Everything could be solved with an incubator item. 6 eggs go in, don't fill up party slots, and when the eggs hatch, they get teleported to whatever box youre on, in the pc. Bada bing, bada boom.

Second- skill sets for Mega Evolutions. If Pokemon is supposed to be an rpg, then I desperately want pokemon skill sets. We've had the 4 move standard from the beginning. Adding a 5th move spot, ony acessable through temporary mean like mega evolution could be like a special skillset, like in normal rpg's.

Third- Pokemon evolution through hatred. I know we have a lot of Pokemon able to evolve through friendship, because friendship is magic, but why not hatred. I mean, we have te "Return" move, which becomes stronger based off happiness, and lots of hapiness evo's, but "Frustration" is a move that increases with how much your Pokemon dislikes you, and yet we have no hatred Pokemon evo's. Bias much?

Should such features be in future games? Let me know what you guys think.

I really feel like Pokemon needs to make more thorough RPG elements in general. Of course people would argue they can't go too far because then kids would have a harder time keeping up but meh.

I'd really like them to stop using only one or two Pokemon per battle. It would be a whole lot better with at least four at a time and increasing the reserves count. Especially with how many Pokemon there are.

1. This will be the gift of God

2. I suppose this could work only if the attack unlocked is a single exclusive move to be mega evolution

3. I'm sure parents, children and PETA would be fond of the idea of abusing a Pokemon to make it grow stronger. Pokemon I supposed to deliver the message of forming strong bonds with your partner to help them grow stronger, right?

so? Gen wunners had it hard, with grindfests, glitches, and more difficult gameplay. Why should others have their hands held? The games now are Way too easy, anyway. Where's the challenge?

I was thinking that HMs should not be actual moves that take up space in the Pokemon's attacks, but something separate that only has the out-of-battle effect.

I would hate to lose Surf, because I have always found it to be a solid water attack. Perhaps it could be implemented as an attack under a different name. Regardless, most HMs are not good attacks, and thus this is a problem... Needing to go through Victory Road with Pokemon you don't really use, because they have the HMs learned.

The Pokemon franchise is primarily made with kids in mind. Kids don't really care about how difficult a game is.

Yo, I'm all for this. Pokemon breeding is too tedious otherwise. Streamline away.

You know what I think would be cool? (And probably broken) If Pokemon had an entirely alternate move set for their mega form. You'd actually have a reason NOT to mega evolve. They could even let you change back and forth. Why not?

Third- Pokemon evolution through hatred. I know we have a lot of Pokemon able to evolve through friendship, because friendship is magic, but why not hatred. Yeah... it's understandable why this probably isn't gonna happen. But yeah, why is Frustration even a move then?

Frustration as a move is most useful on newly caught pokes, and becomes less useful over time anyway because there are so very few things that increase frustration only. Feeding nothing but bitter herbs as healing items, not giving them any kind of held item, and letting them faint are about it. And if that's what you are doing to a pokemon, it will take FOR-BLOODY-EVER to level them.

More RPG elements would be nice, and it's not like they haven't done that already. For me, the best change would be something to effing DO after beating the elites. some reason to crack open my 3DS other than obsessive completionism. Like, if a complete Dex- down to formes- unlocked a Mega Stone that would mega evolve every top-of-evolutionary-tree pokemon. THAT would make it totally worth it. But some of the redundant nonsense just doesn't scale to the effort involved- HOW many freaking flags do I need to find, and my reward is just a Garchompite? Just, no.

If you thought Gen One was grindy, secret base flag farming. Or even worse, trying to get a Starff berry. Ugh. UGH.

Egg Incubator = THE SINGLE GREATEST ITEM TO EVER ITEM. WHY IS THIS NOT A THING?! As someone who spent WEEKS doing the "fill a box with eggs, fill a party with eggs and a flame body fletchinder, fly to Paris, turn on lvl 3 hatching power, ride circles around the tower, switch out all the babies for eggs from the box so you aren't wasting hatching power flying around, ride around the tower, repeat FOREVER", I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see an actual egg incubator item. Heck, I used to walk from my work to the major bus terminal a mile or so away JUST to get the recharge time for hatching power boosted so I could hatch freaking eggses. If I hadn't had a 6-IV Ditto in every Nature ported in from Black, I'd have lost my damned mind. some more.

The first feature is pretty neat but a little overpowered. It would be convenient but then you'd basically be able to have 12 pokemon with you, which is kind of a lot.

I'm still not all happy with those Mega-evolution ideas honestly, they're a bit silly to me still

The third idea is cool though ^^

I definitely agree that having an egg incubator as an item would greatly benefit the games.

It would be really useful and something that I now want to see happen in either Sun and Moon or any other new games in the franchise.

Uhhhh don't you think that's a kind of bias that exists for a reason? Teaching that, you know, hatred is bad?

Either way none of the features you said are really what I'm looking for in Pokemon. For me I would like some more roleplaying tools, like dialogue choices or maybe "trainer types." You know those various cooks you HAVE to battle because you've made eye contact with them? Well, if we wanted to, why not adopt a theme like they do? Like if you catch mostly bug type pokemon, than you can be a bug catcher and have bonuses based on that, etc.

You know something I would love to see? This may not be crucial to anything but I would love to see the game have more customization options in everything. Let us deck our Pokemon with stuff, more customizing for the secret bases, full-on trainer creation and more. The Pokemon series is starting to feel very lacking in this area.

Yeah, it's a roleplaying game, let us role play! It doesn't even have to be anything major or mechanical. Richie from the show put star stickers on his poke-balls, can't we do that? Not sure as much about customizing the pokemon themselves as I personally think the kinds of pokemon one catches is almost an act of creating a character and showing some of your own actual character itself but let us interact with our pokemon more. Amie was a step in the right direction. How about like, BBQ cookouts for fire types, sparring for fighting types, polishing and waxing for steel types, etc.?

It's actually a battle where the player can use up to three Pokemon at once.

Sounds better but it apparently didn't carry over to X and Y. Plus the original system is still in place anyway.

I was thinking that HMs should not be actual moves that take up space in the Pokemon's attacks, but something separate that only has the out-of-battle effect.

SO MUCH THIS.

My last playthrough I wanted to do it "gym leader style", where you pick a type, and only use that type for the whole game.

I felt fairly strongly compelled to go water-type because otherwise it would have been a nightmare to get the HM moves right.

---

I'd like to have more choices...specifically the ability to lose.

On purpose.

For story reasons.

I don't want to be forced to beat everyone up.  wouldn't it be nice if you could offer mercy?

At least in X/Y there were a few chances:

you could pretty much always lose to Trevor.  he was the weakest of your friends, and if you let him win often enough, he'd thank you for letting him win!

also, you could lose to Az at the end of the game, and that felt merciful becuase that was the first time he had had a battle in centuries.  letting him have a win felt kind!

In alpha sapphire, I don't think I found a single instance where you could lose on purpose for story reasons.

Put all the move tutoring/deleter in the same area please, I'm tired of the feeling of going back to a Pokémon game and not remembering where any of the tutors are, especially if I'm going back to try new strategies and stuff

Also let us change Pokémon nicknames whenever we want without needing a rater, and as for an actual new feature maybe a sort of toggle switch for each Pokémon that the OT can check/uncheck to allow renaming or not? I think that would be very welcome.

yes. This would be so ridiculously convenient! I always hated that the tutors were everywhere but one place

A skill set for mega evolution seems to be a bit overpowered. I mean, can you imagine a 5 move M-Rayquaza, Lucario, Mawile, or Salamence? I like the idea; though I think it would be better kept as an ability that is used very sparingly; perhaps on an otherwise weak/useless Pokemon? For example, maybe Smeargle can get a mega which gives it said ability and a small boost to it's stats.

Speaking of abilities, still waiting for one that gets rid of hazards like Stealth Rock. Also, a Sp.A equivalent of Huge Power and Moxie. And one that automatically activates Trick Room, akin to Drizzle and Drought.

I'd love difficulty settings. This thread had some talk about how the Pokemon games are becoming too easy; well, difficulty settings (like the one used in B/W2) would be godly; for example, an Easy, Hard, and Lunatic settings. Yes, I ripped those off from FE. On higher difficulties there would be better AI, more expensive items, higher encounter rates, stronger Pokemon, better movesets, etc. For example, let's say there is a random trainer in S/M that uses a Dragonair. On easy, it would be a normal Dragonair; perhaps with the moveset Agility, Twister, Aqua Tail, and Slam. On Hard, the Dragonair would be a Dragonite with Dragon Rush, Aqua Tail, Wing Attack, and Agility. On Lunatic, the Dragonite would have Multiscale, and have Dragon Dance, Dragon Rush, Aqua Tail, and Hurricane. Something like that. There would also be level differences, forgot to mention that.

Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

The problem with increasing difficulty is that you could end up just making the game more grindy.

If the opponents are too tough to beat, you just end up with more grinding and I really appreciate that the games don't require you to find every single un-fought trainer, or to wander the tall grass in search of XP.

The self-imposed restrictions are far more interesting than just increasing the power of your opponents.

For instance:

  • Cute Pokemon only.  I could only catch a pokemon if it was at the top end of the cute scale, and then I stopped it from evolving into less cute forms
  • Gym Leader style.  Pick a type, and only fight with pokemon that have that type
  • Only use standard pokeballs.
  • Release any pokemon that has fainted to simulate it actually dying in battle
  • Restrictions on items
  • Don't use any pokemon with total base stats above a certain number.  Maybe something between 400-450.  This basically forces you to use pokemon who are short like 10 levels compared to the normal choices.  You can use the second level of your starters, but not the final evolutions.

I'm sure there are other lists people have come up with.

You could simulate tougher trainers just by skipping as many trainers as possible, and still holding a full roster of equal level pokemon.
