Underrated: This song that apparently no one knows cause it only has 4,000 views on youtube and you can't even find it on iTunes. It was on the soundtrack of an old computer game I used to have and it's f***ing awesome

Underrated album: In The Unlikely Event by The Fall Of Troy

Reason it's underrated: It's much more melodic and progressive then their previous works, and due to this, recieved rejection from the band's fanbase. Only two tracks on the album resemble classic The Fall Of Troy. Is it a bad album, though? No, far from it. It's actually my favorite FOT album. The Fall Of Troy was never a popular band, anyways.

Overrated: Everything on the radio, mainstream rap music (there is good rap music.), and dubstep.

I have to agree with everything on your list. Especially dubstep.

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this, but I'm gonna be honest...

I think the Beatles are kind of overrated

Kind of agree with you in a way, but they were the pretty much the first of it's kind to go "out of the box" per say. Personally, I believe they are in fact overrated, however I think anyone can agree that it's completely legit to have a massive amount of respect for them.

Overrated: Needless to say, most of the newer rap on the radio. I am a drummer, so I can usually bump to a song if it's a catchy beat, but it shouldn't be hyped up that much, takes away from real instrumental music (Not saying rap doesn't take skill *Feels like Fluttershy* xD). Although I adore it, Dubstep. I love it, but how a bunch a sounds got put together to a beat, and got this popular is beyond me! (I still love it though! xD)

Underrated: Ok look up Anthony Green, right now. DO IT! (GOD DAMMIT, DO I LOVE ANTHONY GREEN!). In all seriousness he deserves a lot more publicity. His vocal range is not of this earth, and one of the best vocalist's of the time imo. A bold statment, I'm sticking by it, look at a few of his songs if you don't believe me. (Saosin in 2006, Circa Survive - current, Also all his solo work are equally as impressive).

I would post my favorite song of his here, but I love his work WAYYY to much to pick only one. So I put my ipod on shuffle with all his songs on it, and pulled out the 5th song (no particular reason :P).

EDIT: WOW, I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T THINK OF SEVEN YEARS!

Enjoy :D

Overrated Album: The Jester Race by In Flames

Reason it's overrated: The Jester Race, along with Dark Tranquilitie's The Gallery and At The Gates' Slaughter Of The Soul, are three incredibly influential albums, as they are the three albums that helped create melodic death metal. It was In Flames' second album, released early in their career. You're supposed to like it. I certainly don't think it's "the greatest melodic death metal album of all time", as many claim. I'd much rather listen to Whoracle, Colony, Lunar Strain or Clayman if I want my classic In Flames fix. However, I'm not denying that it's an incredible album, because it is. I just don't think it's "the greatest melodic death metal album of all time".

All I can think of when in regards to 'overrated' bands is Led Zeppelin. I like Stairway To Heaven, but beyond that none of their songs are for me. In fact, some of them (like Whole Lotta Love) are incredibly annoying and I don't understand how anybody could possibly like them.

Oh yeah, that reminds me.

Overrated Band: AC/DC.

Reason They Are Overrated: Thing is, I don't even know. Every one of their songs sound the exact same, they are by no means one of the greatest classic rock bands of all time.

I also think Nickelback is extremely overrated.

I hate that band so much. sorry if I offend anyone who likes them

You don't have to apologize for stating your opinion. That's the point of this thread. ;)

The ironic thing about this song is it's on Vevo.

However, I'm pretty sure you guys will agree with the point they're trying to get across to the masses.

P.S. I love the Gorillaz, and I think they should have way more listeners than they already have.

Demon Days is by far best album...

I kind of agree with Led Zeppelin being overrated. I honestly don't think Stairway to Heaven is as amazing as everyone says. I much prefer Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen over Stairway to Heaven.

Even though I am a fan of AC/DC, I will agree that they are a bit overrated.

What else do you recommend by them? I've heard their newer material isn't as good.

Overrated: City and Color.

I find all of his songs to be really simplistic and people get way to hyped up and over-inspired by him. I know a ton of musicians that just up and dropped their previous project simply because they wanted to write music like Dallas Green, and now they just regurgitate the same folky crap over and over again when it wasn't even that great to begin with. I'll admit it's okay stuff at times but it's nothing more than over hyped campfire songs.

Underrated: This Town Needs Guns

The amount of talent these guys have is incredible and they are overlooked far too often.

They aren't as underrated as all the other examples you guys have given... Though I will say that some of their better music is underrated. (El Manana)

While I don't hate City And Colour, I much prefer the other band the lead vocalist is in, Alexisonfire.

Overated: Justin Bieber and pretty much every douche pop band today, it's like every song has to do with sex these days and people wonder why high school girls are getting pregnant.

Underated: Pretty much every classic rock-modern rock bands today (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, coldplay,30 seconds to mars, Rush ects.).

I'm not hearing a lot of people from this generation rave about them.

Really? Because half of my school wears Metallica shirts. Just saying. Also, how aren't they overrated? Everybody knows Enter Sandman. It's such a mediocre song that, for some reason, is one of their most popular songs.

Which reminds me....

Overrated Album: Master Of Puppets

Reason It's Overrated: MOP was Metallica's third studio release, and was supposedly their magnum opus. But was it really? Ha, no. In all actuality, it's just a watered down version of Ride The Lightning. There are some classic songs on here. Orion, Damage Inc. and Battery come to mind. But is it really Metallica's best album or the greatest thrash album of all time? No, far from it.

Because they can't tell the difference between Melodic Death Metal and Deathcore.

Underrated - DEVIN TOWNSEND Sorry. As far as my knowledge of thrash metal goes, Annihilator, Coroner and to an extent, Overkill. Overkill's just one of those bad ass band that can just keep on going and going, hammering out consistent releases and still be able to have the balls of steel they had in the 80's now with new releases. ELECTRIC RATTLESNAKE!!

Coroner, being "The Rush of Thrash Metal" obviously doesn't get enough attention when looking at the Big Four, the Big Three of Germany and so on. They've only released 5 albums but managed to cram in so much technical goodness. I can probably name off 10 songs for people to listen to, and they'll absolutely love it yet be ashamed they never knew of this band. Hell, this is what got Coroner to break up - not being well known enough.
