Eh, I'd put Rarity down at being at her max IMO; this one, the gift of maude pie and saddle and row amount to three fairly dedicated Rarity episode (she co-starred in TGOMP, she's co-starring in this, and saddle and row is a solo episode. Last season it was 3 episodes per pony, so that syncs up with the normal allotment), plus she had a decent role in Gauntlet of fire.

 

 

Even if she's haber's favorite, he's not going to go giving her a noticeably larger number of episodes than the others, especially since hasbro pulls the strings and Rarity is one of the lesser merched of the mane six.

Well she's co-starring in Applejacks Day off so that's 4 but sure.

Anyway Merch has never seemed to determine how much focus a character gets, Fluttershy gets more than Rarity or Applejack but she's been virtually absent for the last two seasons, Rainbows time in the spotlight is all over the place from season to season. Frankly only Twilight and Pinkie seem to consistently get 3-4 focus episodes a season (and for Twilight that's frequently only COUNTING 2 parters).

Ever since "Rarity Investigates" I've been wanting to see more of our favorite fashionista. "Investigates" really changed my opinion of her big time. Teaming her with Pinkie Pie is a wonderful plus!

I honestly  bet this ISN'T the last Rarity episode too, which makes me happy.

She's known to be Haber's favorite, and he's the showrunner now. Not surprising to see her become a lot more active in the show under that circumstance. 

 

 

Expect to see even more Rarity/Applejack too as that's another thing Haber on the record as really liking and enjoying writing. 

Dear lord I really hope this isn't the case. Having any sort of favoritism/character bias is one of the worst things you can do for a story heavy series, especially one with a lot of mane characters to work with. It's one of the Megaman X/DBZ's biggest issues, hell, it's one of the biggest MLP comic's biggest detractors for me, and I really don't want this to become a problem for one of my favorite shows

I wouldn't say that its specifically a comic issue given how the show has the same issue with Twilight and two parters

Well they kind of ran into problems in the X series in that X kind of overcame all of his emotional issues by the third game, which pretty much left them with Zero as the only one with a real psychological plot.

There was the potential plotline of X struggling with what it was that made reploids go maverick and fearing he'd one day go maverick too, but Capcom kind of veto'd any follow up on that idea since they wanted to play things safe (like how it was supposed to be the Real X as a villain in Zero, but Capcom demanded it be changed to a copy)

I prefer Rarity when she's a bit more of a...rarity (sorry, her name is just so pun-able ). Makes her appearances more special and memorable. I think I'd get extremely sick of her after a while if she appeared too much, especially as she has one of those types of personalities that can get extremely 'grating' after you've had a lot of exposure to it.

Eh, I wouldn't worry too much about that honestly. Its not like rarity's going to be stealing any two parters (if she even appears in them for more than a minute ), and I don't think she's going to be having that many more episodes this season (if at all)

One could say that split focus episodes don't count as that character's solo episode. So last season Rarity had 1 solo and 2 split focus eps. This season she is set for what looks like 1 solo and 3 split focus with two of them being more geared toward an ensemble (2+ characters) since Applejack's Day Off will likely feature an A and B plot with Rarity being secondary focus if she is featured in the A plot (we need cuts to show how Twilight and Spike are faring with chores so that will take up time in the B plot). 

 

Haber has little to do with it also. ooBrony did an analysis of lines and words spoken of each of the Mane Six (from Season 1-4). Even without a solo episode in Season 3, Rarity charted higher than many of the other characters overall, so she wasn't a stranger when it came to line and scene assignment. People put a lot of emphasis on solo episodes, but in truth some of the best character defining moments come from smaller roles. 

 

Personally, I just ask for one solo Rarity episode a season with a Kazumi Evans song. As long as I get that I am happy and the rest is gravy. Some of my favorite Rarity moments are not from her featured solo episodes anyway.

I honestly think they should give the Rarity/Applejack pair more of a chance, especially given that we already had a Pinkie/Rarity episode just a few weeks ago, but the plot of this one sounds very interesting. I only wish it had been Applejack because of the cohesion AJ and Rarity shared in "Sisterhooves Social".

 

It reminds me of a backstory I wrote for one of my OCs, so I may be a little biased, but it is nice to see a family relationship be the focus of an episode again.

Rarity/Applejack is getting at least half of episode 10, I think they just feel that the whole Rarity-Pinkie dynamic has been neglected for a long time so they are shoring it up now.
