  1. My gosh. It's just a favorite pony poll that, at the end of the day, doesn't really mean anything. There's no need to create multiple accounts to boost your favorite's votes...

Hey, NC! Love, love, love your art! I'm a big fan! I got into drawing ponies about 6 months ago, but I'm still struggling a bit with the anatomy and drawing them in different angles and positions. How exactly did you go about studying pony anatomy so you were able to draw them in the poses you wanted?
  3. Definitely Quibble Pants, who recently replaced Rarity as my favourite character in the whole show. For a one-shot character, his personality was surprisingly fleshed out. He has quirks (talks a lot, likes to be critical about things), strengths (smart, observant), flaws and weaknesses (somewhat lacking in common sense, can annoy others with his criticism and non-stop talking, a bit aggressive), and we know his interests and hobbies (reading, writing fanfiction, puzzle solving). And most importantly, he was funny (I just love his sass)! There’s a lot more to him than Cheese and Rara, that’s for sure. Unfortunately it’s highly unlikely we’ll see him again, being voiced by a celebrity and all, but I guess I can hope.
  4. Another episode in Manehattan? Really? Ah well, as long as the episode's good... And yeah, cart racing. That should be interesting to see. Especially Rarity, as I couldn't imagine her being into that kind of thing. She's most likely just doing it for her sister though. And all the sisters are going to be together in an episode for once! I can't remember if we've seen that before but it's going to be really great to see.
  5. When was an Applejack racing episode announced?
  6. In regards to Fluttershy not being in many episodes, she's just an introvert. Social situations are very draining and exhausting for introverts, so it makes sense that Fluttershy isn't hanging around with her friends or other ponies in most episodes. She loves her friends dearly, of course, but feels a lot more comfortable and relaxed at home with her animal friends. That's my headcanon, and I'm sticking to it
  7. Now that I think about it, yes, Rarity is getting a lot of screen time...but not a lot of focus. It's mainly been her helping out others: finding a gift for Maud with Pinkie, going to the Dragon Lands to look out for Spike, and now getting Applejack to relax at the spa. Even in Saddle Row Review which was based on Rarity opening up her new shop, she was overshadowed by the mane 6 as a whole being absolutely brilliant. I'm actually...really liking Rarity like this. It really plays into her element of generosity, something that people were complaining that she barely represented back in the early days of the show. Now that she's really becoming a lot more involved in her friend's lives and considering their wants and needs, like the element of generosity should, people are now complaining that Rarity's getting to much 'focus', basically implying she should be less generous. It's quite funny really.
  8. I'll start off by saying the moral was very good. Sometimes you can get so used to doing something a certain way, you don't think to see if there could be a better or more efficient way of doing it. You need someone on the outside to show you how. ...Too bad it was executed in such a poor and forgettable manner. The pacing was practically non-existant: Scenes were dragged out far longer than they needed to be, and nothing happened for the first two acts, with an incredibly rushed conclusion in the third act. Most of the dialogue was clunky and unnatural, with many characters lines being very on the nose: "My house has many rooms because I live in a mansion." Like...seriously, writers? Applejack suddenly really liking the spa so much as to get grumpy several times because she couldn't get in the steam room was really weird. Rarity having such a one-track mind about the spa really soiled some of her character development too. Nothing else to say really. 3/10. Badly written. Forgettable. Except for 'Prunity'
  9. I'm going to say again that this was one of the best mane 6 ensemble episodes we've had in a long time. They were all utilized so perfectly and none of them felt the slightest bit out of character. It was really great, and I hope we get more episodes like this is the future. And for the question, it's really hard for me to choose between Pinkie and Rainbow. All of the main 6 had memorable moments (Rarity's NO SPOILERS obviously stealing the whole show just in the cold open!) but those two had more that really stood out to me. I guess I'll pick Rainbow, because these two moments were just the best!
  10. That episode was delightful! A mane 6 episode where they all play a decent part and all get great and memorable moments? When was the last time we got one of those?! I'm so glad that this wasn't a solo Rarity episode, as much as I love her, because I just love seeing the mane 6 each add their own unique personalities to the table. This is what really made the interviews with the reporter so great! Nick Confalone has proven that he knows how to write all the mane 6 brilliantly. Excited to see more episodes from him now. Best moments: NO SPOILERS! (new reaction image) SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP (someone had better remix that) Those raccoon waiters tho Everyone just blurting out things they shouldn't at their interviews Spoon fingers! All the new background ponies (some of them has really cool designs) The humor in general just knocked it out the park! 10/10 ep. Far and away the best episode of the season. Can totally see myself watching this again several times.
  11. Every season that goes by, the more upset I get that Rarity has VIRTUALLY no backstory compared to the rest of the main 6. How did she get into fashion? Why does she wear makeup? Why does she choose to manipulate and bat her eyes at stallions (and Spike) into getting what she wants instead of simply asking nicely? Why does she like gemstones so much that she got upset when Spike said he was going to eat the fire ruby? It would make Rarity's 'negative' actions a whole lot more endearing if we knew WHY she did them. Instead people are just left to assume that Rarity is simply a shallow, selfish bitch and nothing more. It's probably why there's such a double standard when it comes to Rarity negative actions and everyone else's. For example, Fluttershy has be shown to care way more for animals than other ponies, which is negative in many situations, but it can be seen as endearing because we know that she was bullied relentlessly as a filly for being a weak flier. Animals don't judge her like ponies do. We also know how Fluttershy came to love animals in the first place. We know how Pinkie became the happy, bubbly pony she is, and when she realised she wanted to dedicate her life to making other ponies happy. We can forgive Pinkie for being insensitive and overbearing sometimes, because we know she has good intentions. We know Rainbow was bullied and given a horrible nickname as a filly, and she dropped out of flight school because she was lazy. We can (mostly) forgive Rainbow for being egotistical and arrogant, because we know it's to cover up some deep-seated insecurities she has and there is no malicious intent behind it. We know it was when Twilight saw Celestia raise then sun that one time that made her want to learn everything there was to learn about magic. We know how she got Spike. We know how she became Celestia's prized student. We can forgive Twilight for being a bad friend sometimes because we know she didn't have any before she came to Ponyville as she spend most of time studying. And Applejack is just Applejack. She doesn't really do anything wrong to begin with. Other than what happened to her parents, there isn't really anything worth knowing about her past. What do we know about Rarity's past? She found gems in a rock and put them on costumes, leading to her immediately getting her cutie mark. That's it. Nothing else. Doesn't give us much to work with when trying to analyse and understand her actions. So does anyone else think that Rarity's lack of backstory has anything to do with the criticism she receives?
  12. Don't care about Starlight at all, to be honest. No personality whatsoever besides 'I used to be evil and I'm struggling to adjust.' What are her likes, dislikes, her hobbies? We don't know, because the writers haven't bothered to give her any. Sunset doesn't fair any better either. Incredibly bland audience stand-in with the same 'personality' as Starlight. So yeah, give them more personality outside of 'their evil pasts' and I may start caring about them. I want to be able to connect and relate to these characters, but I can't. They're just really boring and unappealing to me.
  13. Applejack is best for the element of honesty because she's a very 'simple' and stable pony. What you see is what you get when it comes to her. There aren't really many aspects of her that she keeps 'hidden' from her friends. There's more to honesty than not telling lies, you know. Rainbow can very blunt and 'brutally honest' when it comes to talking about her friends, yes, but it's not really friendship related. Most of the time it is hurtful and does nothing to help the situation they may be in. She's also got a lot of deep-seated fears and insecurities that she doesn't like sharing with the others all too often, making her not that honest in that sense. So basically, Applejack's honesty is 'friendly', Rainbow's is not. I also believe that Rainbow is the element of loyalty because that is what she values the most from friendship. It was revealed in Mysterious Mare Do Well that she hates being alone, so she really appreciates other ponies being there for her, and looks to do the same for them.
  14. Eh, looks like I'm going against the crowd here, because I found this episode really boring and uneventful. I've never really enjoyed adaptations of well known stories and it was no different here. This episode brought nothing new to the Charles Dickens story and therefore didn't grab my interest once. The songs were good, I guess, and I may go and listen to a few again, but felt they were just to cover up the really boring storyline. This episode didn't do anything interesting with Starlight either so she still feels like a really bland character to me. Her change of heart about HWE was really sudden and out of nowhere, and I don't see how Twilight reading her a fictional story could have helped. I'd say I liked Newbie Dash better than this episode. I can see myself easily watching that episode a few more times due to pure entertainment value, but I would struggle to get through this again. Which sucks, because I've loved all the other musical episodes, Crusaders being far and away my favorite. Random comments: Rainbow acting as Starlight's assistant? After her lackluster episode last week in which she messes up and has many bad things happened to her? Wow, she really IS the new Spike. Didn't see Luna as the Future coming. I was expecting Twilight. Glad she got herself a new singing voice as I always found it quite jarring that she sounded exactly like Rarity when singing. All the old fashioned outfits were really nice. Rarity's parents were there! Good to see they're still alive. Thought something had happened to them as Sweetie has spent a lot of time with her sister recently, and they didn't show up for her Cutecinera.
  15. Watching cartoons, drawing fan art and collecting toys/stuffed animals. My mum isn't so fond of me doing these things and is always telling me to 'grow up.' But I have a feeling I'll be doing these things for as long as I live
  16. Rarity is similar to me way more than I initially realized. I don't connect to her surface traits (girliness and love of fashion) at all, but I am artistically inclined like her whilst also coming across as an intellectual person. In fact, she got me into taking my artwork more seriously so I can improve my skills. Like her, I hate seeing beautiful/pretty things get destroyed or go to waste, it literally hurts me inside. I love being generous, and seeing people smile when I give them something they really love and appreciate, but I'm always careful to not be too generous so people don't take advantage. Oh, and I'm not very fond of dirt and germs, and I like most things to be of a high quality. We also have the same snarky sense of humor, which makes her the funniest of the mane 6 to me. Flutters and Pinkie I connect with more than the rest (shy and introverted, love seeing people happy), which makes them my second favorites. (And they're both very adorable, I admit)
  17. I hope we get an episode with Rainbow and Scootaloo this season. It's about time they further develop their relationship. I'm an only child myself but have a person in my life that I've known for about 10 years who I'd consider to be my 'surrogate big sister'. I don't relate to Rainbow or Scootaloo that well so their relationship could give me something to really sympathise with them about.
  18. I'm hoping that he is her father and that Rainbow's an only child. All the other mane 6 members have siblings so it would be interesting for her to be only one who doesn't. There's the potential for an interesting episode surrounding it.
  19. Wow, some people really hated this episode, which I can kind of understand. After all, this was Rainbow's dream finally coming true, something we'd seen her work towards for over five years, and in the end she gets stuck with a nickname that gave her horrible reminders of her childhood. The impersonations, whilst a bit pointless and could be seen as going against Rainbow's character, were pretty funny to me and I didn't find it cringy in the slightest. (I swear, I've seen the word 'cringe' used so much to describe this episode it doesn't even feel like a real word anymore) Rainbow's ego was as big as ever this episode, so she did bring some of the humiliation on herself, but she did get shot down a bit by the end of the episode. So even if Dash didn't really learn anything, hopefully she'll become more humble in later episodes. So overall, pretty okay episode. Didn't hate it like others did, but that's probably because I'm not a huge Dash fan. It will be interesting to see where Rainbow goes from here, now that her Wonderbolt's arc is over. Random points: Spike's still getting abused by the ponies (poor guy) Rarity once again being the one to know that something is definitely wrong with Rainbow after her first day (best pony carries on being best pony ) Impressions show how Rainbow really views her friends (in a slightly negative manner)
  20. You think that's a good thing?! Because bias is NEVER a good thing when it comes to shows with ensemble casts. I prefer Rarity when she's a bit more of a...rarity (sorry, her name is just so pun-able ). Makes her appearances more special and memorable. I think I'd get extremely sick of her after a while if she appeared too much, especially as she has one of those types of personalities that can get extremely 'grating' after you've had a lot of exposure to it.
  21. Another Rarity/Pinkie episode? Well, they did have a really good dynamic in The Gift of the Maud Pie so I'm really looking forward to seeing them again. Rarity has good business skills so I see her helping out on the advertising end. And Pinkie's a fairly good cook and has a good relationship with her family. And damn, we went from having literally no Rarity focus in the first half of season 5, to her crushing everypony else in terms of screen time in the first half of this season. Cool it, writers. I know you adore Rarity and all, but spread out the focus a little. Poor Flutters could use some.
  22. I would argue that all members of the mane six are suffering from this problem. They've all gone through so much character development over the course of 5 seasons, there just aren't that many lessons for them to learn anymore. I'd say Rainbow still has quite a few flaws that the writers could work with, but many of those flaws are what make Rainbow who she is. Without them she would just be a caricature of herself. Rarity also has her expanding fashion empire that could open up several new problems for her, so that has some potential, I guess. As for Fluttershy, and Applejack as well if I think about it, she never had a goal she was working towards outside of her shyness. She has always been happy with where she is in life. This obviously gave the writers little to work with to begin with, so most of her episodes past season 1 involved her learning the same lesson over and over again. Now that Flutters has finally shown she has taken her lessons to heart over the past season, this lack of an ongoing goal has become much more apparent. So yeah, I'm interested to see what this brother does to progress Fluttershy's character, if it does anyway. I think the main reason Twilight was even given Starlight as a student in the first place was to open up some new learning opportunities for her because the writers also don't know what else to do with her. She's been a student of Celestia, and now she gets to see what it's like being a mentor. I think that this could also be a possibility for the rest of the mane six as well. Bring in some new characters for each mane six to mentor. It allows them to somewhat retread old lessons without having the character relearn it.
  23. Ah, so it IS Trixie who's returning. I don't really care about her, to be honest, so I'm not really anticipating her return. I do hope Rainbow, Fluttershy and Applejack make appearances though. They've been nowhere to be seen since the season opener and I'm really starting to miss them. (And Rarity, I love you to bits, but please stop hogging the spotlight from your friends. Thanks)
