What if Luna, Discord and Starlight became the heroes of a season finale?

The last champions of Equestria?

Ever since the trio were reformed completely from their evil ways throughout the series, I always wonder what would be the pinnacle of their reform.  And I thought to myself "What if in a twist of irony: Princess Luna, Discord and Starlight Glimmer became the only thing between the villain(Ether a returning villain or a new one) and the ultimate downfall of Equestria?"

Personally, I would like to see the reformed villains become the heroes of a Season Finale story(Just like how Sunset Shimmer became the hero of Equestria Girls: Friendship Games by actually saving the human world from total destruction.).  Show to the world that they are taking their redemption very serious, and how they are willing to stop evil from doing what they tried to do.

How would you all react if Princess Luna, Discord and Starlight Glimmer became the heroes of a Season Finale, ending with them being crowned heroes by Princess Celestia for putting their lives on the line to save Equestria?

That's actually pretty interesting and it kinda resembles the ending of A new hope were the heroes receive medals and everyone cheers

Except that part would end with a big song done by Stan Bush.(That would be wishful thinking)

This actually sounds like a neat idea. Luna hasn't done anything major in a finale, Discord hasn't saved the day at all on his own accord (Twilight's Kingdom was an accidental day saving), and we all know Starlight at this point. So it would give two characters a huge chance to finally save the world and Starlight finally a chance to fully redeem herself.

Thanks for the comment.  I appreciate it.

Though if my idea went through, it would actually push the trio to fight back when the Mane 6 was defeated, even to the point where they nearly lose to the villain(Like how the Mane 6 nearly lost to Discord, Queen Chrysalis and Lord Tirek).

I've actually had an idea where Starlight Glimmer needs to stop a very stressed out, very misguided Twilight Sparkle from making a very bad decision which could seriously endanger Equestria. I think that could be a really interesting role reversal.

Here's what I think. I think the Mane Six will try to save the day, but can't do it on their own, so Starlight calls in the friends she made during the season, Sunburst, Spike, Trixie, and probably more, and they're going to save the Mane Six, and together, they will ALL save the day! So perhaps Discord and Luna might be Starlight's fourth and fifth friends! That's how I believe the season finale is going to be!

There is a difference between letting other characters assist the main group in time of need and writers nerfing main heroes in the name of character diversity. This proposal reads like the latter. Moreover, given how many action adventure episodes we have per season, distributing them to side characters might not be such a fine idea.

How about this: Discord, Luna, and little Miss Glimmer can have a nice 22 min long tea party sitcom in Twilight’s crystal abomination while Mane 6 are out doing adventure stuff. Deal?

Oh, but muh favorite chara … I mean friendship and stuff! Then also include Celestia, Cadence, Shining, Zecora, Spike, Ember, heck, throw Torch, Garble, and Gilda in the mix while you’re at it! Now that, my fellow forumgoers, that is a true hero ensemble!

Yeah basically this, considering the mane 6 sans Twilight are already ridiculously marginalized in season finales/premieres, I'd prefer to not see something like this happen, especially if it's just more Luna and Glimmer

It's not about nerfing the main heroes.  In fact, I think the Mane 6 have been overused when it comes to Premiers and Finales of the Season.  The Season 6 Premier felt very refreshing in my opinion by giving a reformed villain a chance to shine as the main protagonist.

Twilight alone has been overused cause it’s quite convenient to solve everything with bullshit friendship magic if you only have 44 min, and I fail to grasp how those three would do anything differently.

The way I see it, Twilight needs to be more of a leader/battlemage that doesn’t just shoop da whoop her way into a friendship lecture, and Mane 5 need a purpose within such action oriented episodes that goes beyond public service. In other words: Twilight’s battles with big bads need to be less straightforward and more fun to watch, and Mane 5 need to play a more crucial role in the overarching struggle that puts at least some of them in the spotlight. Besides, all action oriented shows have the same team saving the world time and time again and no one’s complaining. Care to guess why?

I wouldn't approve, because they shoved Celestia aside and turned her into a helpless victim once again.

My conclusion would be that the writers clearly hate this character. Thank you for ruining Celestia. Next episode she's gonna  trip over a banana and breaks her neck, i assume.

What I would do with Celestia is that she would hold down Castle Canterlot, and go into a one-pony army, warding off any invading Changelings/Shadows/Demons like a badass.

This could be cool. The question is, would this diverse trio of reformed villians be the only ones who could reform a new villian (or Chrysalis who was never reformed) or will they be forced to destroy an unreformable enemy?

Yeah...this is a show about friendship... They'll probably end up reforming Chrysalis no matter what.. *sigh*

I would rather it be the trio defeating the enemy and banishing them to Tatarus.  Kiling or reforming the returning villains ain't in my cards, especially if they were to be used again in the future.

> Luna, Discord, Twinkleshit become heros

> Not Trixie

Fucking plebs. I hope Jim was serious about Trixie in his tweet, I won't even bother if it ends up like this.

With her giraffe sized neck, she just might.

It's an interesting idea. It might add some spice to our life.

Honestly, as much as I love the OG Mane 6, I'm getting just a (wee little bit) tired of them always winning everything unconditionally. The season 5 premiere was a breath of fresh air, because those 3 ponies whose-names-definitely-in-no-way-escape-me-right-now were the ones who stopped the bad guy.

It would be cool to have a similar situation with characters that aren't necessarily "friends", like the trio you suggested. :icwudt:
