Which is the most unluckiest? Me. At least they only have to undergo one disaster unlike me, one disaster after another.  And I’m still here to go through it again :umad:

The Chernobyl accident purely happened because of human stupidity. It wouldn't have happened if they had been smart about it.

I'd say that Chernobyl was worse, truly because it could've been prevented.

Several stubborn mess-ups cost all those people their lives :c

Chernobyl by far. While Pompeii is tragic, there was nothing they could have done since that was a natural disaster. Chernobyl, however, is an industrial accident that's still ongoing. It has made a part of the Ukraine uninhabitable and the corium left behind is still smoldering and eating through the basement floor of the reactor. Thousands died as a direct result of being involved in the cleanup effort and in the construction of the Sarcophagus. Tens of thousands of people lost their homes as a direct result of human negligence. That is, by far, much worse than a natural disaster.

Hmm, going to have to go with both being tied?

I mean, in Pompeii's case you won't win any Darwin awards for settling next to a live volcano, while in Chernobyl you won't win any Darwin awards for poor handling of a reactor that technically speaking could've been avoided.

Pompeii definitely had more victims in the immediate event, but the effects of Chernobyl lasted for years.

We’ll probably never know just how many people ended up with cancer or severe birth defects because of the Chernobyl disaster, but I’m certain it’s in the tens of thousands at the very least.
