Zecora needs her own episode!

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before. I found one that was back in 2014. But seriously she's a character who some how always has all the answers and teaches great lessons, but it seems like the more she appears the more she becomes less of a character and more of a plot device.

 

I think she is pretty great and also Zebras are a species of Equestria we don't really know anything about aside from small info from the show and The Journal of the Two Sisters.

 

It would be pretty awesome. An episode where we might travel to the Zebra lands and understand their customs and traditions. Also understand why she is living the Everfree forest in the first place. Maybe also find out about her passion about learning. An episode possibly about passion for the things you love/enjoy and even though it's hard to leave everything you know behind you still decide to follow your path. Maybe she even has second thoughts about staying.

 

Not that I want that idea striped down in black and white on a stroyboard, just spit balling ideas.

Anyone else have any ideas? Agree/disagree?

I don't think Zecora needs her own episode per say, but It'd be nice if she was featured a little more. Not that I have anything against her, but I just don't think there's enough to her character or backstory to justify a whole episode centred on her. She's usually just a plot device to set up certain episodes or so a pony can end up obtaining some magical item that forwards the plot. It's sad, but It's the truth.

I do not have anything really against her but her ryhming is a bit gimmicy and she is not a very dynamic chacater but more of a type like Celestia so there is not that much to work with unless the writers have some brilliant idea.

I've been saying this forever. Zecora does need an episode. One where she isn't helping the Mane Six resolve a problem, but for once, being the one who needs help herself. I don't think that would detract from her character in the slightest, since wise characters are aware that they don't have all the answers. And we've seen from her appearances in Swarm of the Century and Princess Twilight Sparkle that she doesn't.

Besides, she's been added to the photo in the show's latest intros. If she's that close to Twilight and her friends, they should see her more.

I believe Zecora needs her own episode, we could see the land where she's from, learn why she's so wise, also show us how she knows about Dragons and Herbs.

There is one problem though, that the writers need to overcome with her. Her rhyming. Zecora always speaks in rhymes, because this is part of her character. So the writers, pretty much have to write rhymes for her the entire episode and also rhymes that makes sense.

 

And i think this is why we never will see a real Zecora episode, because the writers just don't know how to write around this problem.

It makes me think sometimes why Twilight is the princess of friendship and Zecora is just some old Everfree zebra. Zecora has been growing on me and I think she could possibly have her own episode, I mean, she kinda already did have her own episode in like season 2, but that was just her intro episode, now we know a few things about her....why not make an episode on her. Besides, Hasbro is going to run out of episode ideas real soon with the way they are going.

I think the whole rhyming thing would make it more interesting. I'm sure the fandom has a lot of questions like "Is Zecora's rhyming a family tradition?" or "Do all zebras in Equestria rhyme?" that they would like to have answered.

If Zecora has to be the main character of an episode, she also has to talk alot. Not only do they need to write these rhymes, but they also need to write them in a way, so that it makes sense for the story.

 

I can't see this happen, especially because i think the writers avoid her more and more because of that problem.

Actually that's a good point. I kinda don't see a reason for a Celestia episode either. But Zecora isn't an all powerful alicorn who's been around for more than a thousand years. So there is something to work with. I think I would say Bridle Gossip is more of a Twilight episode. Teaching her not to judge by the cover of the book, kind of. I think depending on how the episode is introduced it will work well.

I've had an idea floating around in my head for an episode with Zecora and Daring Do. Like, where Daring Do needs help from Zecora on an adventure. I think those two characters would make an interesting story.

I'd love another Zecora episode, too. I agree with you on how she seems to be more of a wise teacher/sage than anything else, to the point of being a plot device. If we could get a deeper look into her potion and plant inventory, or her culture, and start exploring that, it could make for an interesting story and provide some more insight as to who Zecora is.

I would like to see more of Zecora and her heritage too but then again writing her for a full episode alone would had to be a lot of work. I was thinking of somehow the cutie map being a plot starter, would lead to a friendship problem somewhere in Zecora's homeland. A pair of the mane 6 would go and bring along Zecora as a guide and that's a great start to introduce her story.

Pretty much. I've written both Zecora and other rhyming characters for fanfics and let's just say I now avoid Zecora, and rhyming characters in general, in everything I write. Writing 22 minutes of rhymes would be total Hell on the writers, and we Bronies are tough on them as it is.

Definitely. I don't think there is a good idea for a Celestia episode. She seems to powerful for me. The comics do it well making her the center of the comic tho.

If I were in charge of it, (and this is just off the top of my head, mind you) I think I'd have the episode open with Zecora's birth in distant lands.  Then just tell her story.  Follow her through foalhood, show Zebra culture, then show a passage of time, reveal why she decided to leave, etc.  I'm envisioning an emotional departure followed by a difficult journey, a real test of will.  She'd eventually settle in Everfree and begin building her house.  At the end, we could skip back to the present and just show her silently sipping tea, lost in thought, as if reminiscing about her life.  Roll credits.  Wouldn't that be awesome?!  I think that'd be f*ckin' awesome.  No ponies in it all.  Not one.  Only zebras.  Minimal dialogue, too.  In fact, no dialogue after she leaves her homeland.  Totally unexpected and totally awesome.

It definitely would be interesting to see day of Zecora. But there's a lot of other interesting characters around who is really important, like aunt Celestia, they can't make episodes about any of them.

By the way, there was episode about Zecora, even if she wasn't really main character .

Sounds good and all. But it needs to serve a purpose. It doesn't really serve a purpose if it doesn't connect to our main characters. The whole flashback thing is kind of pointless if it didn't really show any motivation in previous episodes. Nor if it will show in other episodes after that. She's not a main character. Just a supporting one so an episodes 100% about her, excluding anypony else is too much imo.
