After a pretty halfassed attempt as seeing if this was already a tread I found nothing and decided to proceed.

According to.. Idk, internet sorces and common knowlage apparently the MLP fandoms gender is Is 86% male.

And while both gender groups ages are over the originally intended target audience age, the target audience gender is wwwaaaayyy off XP

As a girl is this strange or uncomfortable in any way? intimidating? don't care?

I'd like to know your thoughts and personal opinions :P

Honestly, I don't care.  They're fans of the show/series just as I am and that's what should make them apart of the 'fandom', not their gender.  If the majority of the fans are males, I don't see why it should make me or anyone else feel uncomfortable in any way so long as they're not harming anyone else.  What matters is that they enjoy the show, and that should be all there is to it.

I don't care what the gender or sex a fan of the show is. They're doing what makes them happy, and I think it's great. It doesn't affect how I see a person. The show is a positive thing and has done so much to help bring people together and help those who have gone through rough times in their life. I'm actually glad to meet any fans of MLP. :)

I'll feel uncomfortable or intimidated if someone gives me a reason to feel that way, not because of their gender. The only way I can see this being an issue is if there is social pressure saying that you don't belong in that group because you are not part of the major demographic, which is a ridiculous notion anyway. That might be the case if we were talking about female pilots or male nurses etc. but since we are talking about bronies, who are already prey to social stigma, plus there's the fact that girls are actually closer to the target demographic, it does not really apply here.

I was the only female in our school's little cluster of bronies.

I'm totally fine with that. I always fitted in better with the guys, generally speaking. That's only because I fall out of what are considered "normal" interests for girls. I played Magic the Gathering and talked a lot about video games with them.

As for ponies, I'm actually glad we have a strong male presence in the fandom. Part of what drew me in was that these guys were breaking gender norms. They enjoyed this little girl show because it was good, regardless of the fact that it's a little girl show.
