For people who don't have savings or a job that pays into a 401k or something similar, it is a really bad idea to spend money on frivolous things.

Between things like my 401K, my IRA/ Roth IRA, mutual funds, real estate stocks, long term (aka boring) stock plans and precious metals as hedges against inflation, I've got around $30K worth of assets and counting. 

Play the long game my friends. 

 

Oh and don't put anything into savings. The interest you'll get is paltry.

My 401k is looking decent at the moment and I always keep emergency cash on hand, especially during hurricane season.

I also have a few grand saved up and I'm adding to it monthly. I'm wanting to buy a lot of land in a couple years, which means I'll have to back off on buying telescope accessories.

Well I got a job since my last post in here lol. I have a savings account that I put a little money in when I can, but it certainly isn’t much right now and it’s very difficult for me to save anything when my job gives me very little hours. Which is why I’m looking for another one.
