Lambdadelta 1,462 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 Dang, I want Larson to write post-reformation Starlight... oh well... Megahn is busy with the movie, she wont be story editor. Maybe 2 lady writers, I forgot their names, they wrote Gauntlet of Fire, their episodes are good but lacks the "craziness" which Larson and Megahn has. Nick Confalone is one of the best comedy writers, but I doubt he can write something serious like the premier or finale. Dave Polsky. I dont whether he still working for this show or not. His episodes are getting worse since Apploosa Most Wanted. Mike Vogel is the best choice, he worked for this show for 5 year. I love all his episode this season (I was happy when I knew he wrote the finale with Haber). His plot-driven story may not compete Megahn and Larson, Megahn usually has more crazy stories concepts, Mike cant compete her, but his character-driven stories are good all-round, he should be the head writer of season 7 Or a writer at least ;D. So sad, we lose great writers every season...

Aurora Glimmer 494 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 While it's a shame Larson isn't coming back, Haber's departure is probably for the best. While he did a better job than I thought he would, I don't think he was cut out to be head writer.
Unlikeable Pony 2,700 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 just going to speak up though, while its nice to think about it, this is all just speculation and conjecture that haber is leaving, as that tweet is pretty freaking vague and could easily just be him screwing around. Larson not coming back is definite yet Haber was being somewhat cryptic with his tweet. I think we should wait until he provides a more clearer explanation--provided he's willing to give one. Silver Letter 1,832 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 That's not too good at all. I wonder if the writing quality will not be as good if none of the original writers will be involved. Could it get really bad? Maybe even as bad as Gen 3? Maybe season 6 should have been the last. Silver Letter!!! To be honest, as I'm expecting S7 to be a half season (due to the movie coming out in the fall and them not wanting to run the risk of the show extending too far into the year and eating into the hype for the movie), I think we might get another S3 flub on our hands. Silver Letter 1,832 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 I think we might get another S3 flub on our hands. That's not good. I was hoping for something to end the series with. Something grand even but it might just end badly. It's quite disappointing. MLP was my favorite animated show. If it's that bad, I might just stop watching. Silver Letter!!! cmarston1 5,965 October 13, 2016 Share October 13, 2016 Larson not coming back, while expected due to his book series, is still a little disappointing. As for Haber I am generally indifferent. Hopefully Vogel can replace that role.

Could it get really bad? Maybe even as bad as Gen 3? Maybe season 6 should have been the last. Well, this season only one of the original writers was involved (Polsky) and he only wrote one episode that wasn't particularly acclaimed (although it was good), and we don't know for sure if he won't be involved. Have some faith also, Confalone would be a pretty good successor of Polsky. Anyway, if the original crew is really gone for good then perhaps it's a good thing, at some point they might run out of ideas or get tired of writing for the show. The new crew needs more experience, but they also have fresh and interesting ideas, I'm sure they'll get the hang of it pretty soon.
Princess Book Horse 353 October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 (edited) I'm very saddened by the news of Larson not being involved for S7, it was my biggest hope that he would return. However, this doesn't mean S7 won't be enjoyable, nor does it mean that Larson is gone for good. Only time will tell if he returns to FIM one day. As for Haber, his tweet was too confusing to tell, so we don't know for sure if he's involved. Although, if he isn't, I wonder the new story editor will be. Maybe McCarthy will be more involved this time around, we will just have to see. I just don't want this to be a repeat of S6, where instead of slowly finding out who was working on it, we slowly found out who wasn't, it was like slowly pulling off a band aid. I asked Mike Vogel if he'll be involved, but I'm not sure if he can answer. Still, he is my #1 choice for Story Editor as this point. Thrond 3,272 October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 No Haber as head writer is a huge improvement imo, though who's ever replacing him could break my hope NONONODANIELBRYAN.gif I seriously hope he's out of here for S7 Y'know, I actually liked "28 Pranks Later." What's really fill me with dread is Neal Dusedau at the helm. Anyway, as much as I liked Haber as a writer and season 6 overall (that first 12-episode run is among the best periods the show has ever had), I hope they get someone in charge who actually has a strong vision for these characters for once. I don't really want Larson or McCarthy back in the role, as I found seasons 4 and 5 to be just as aimless as season 6, if not more. Lewis & Songco very rarely seem to find the same things compelling as I do, as "Legend of Everfree" was my least favourite Equestria Girls movie and I'' totally baffled as to what people see in "Gauntlet of Fire," meaning that (not having seen "Top Bolt") they're at 2/5 for me right now. I'd be pretty happy with Vogel or Rapp taking the reigns, as they both have a very strong understanding of the characters, although what I think is more important right now is getting more writers in here with strong comedic instincts and fresh ideas. Ensuring the writers have an appreciation for the show to this point is worthwhile, but I don't think characterization this season has been as bad as people say. That said, the characters have been growing only in spurts since at least mid-season 4, so it will be important for writers to come in with fresh directions for these characters. I don't like the feeling that the professional writers lack ideas, although maybe a lot of great ideas have been put aside due to production time constraints. In any case, I haven't been this excited for the show at the end of a season in years, so I'll take what I'm given.

Most of their major character arcs are concluded, so what I want is for them to be put in new situations which are still relevant to them. Could help us see them in different lights and give the impression of forward progress.

Yeah, and it would give us a chance to maybe see some more development for Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart in the future. If you want to have someone that sets up future arcs for characters, I honestly think that songco is the best bet, even if you disliked their episodes: I won't say LOE was amazing quality, but what it DID do was set up a MASSIVE amount of potential for future EQG features, as it started to try and build a framework for the mane six's ability's and WHY they have them, with a stinger that's perfect for future plotlines. Additionally, Gauntlet of fire establishes a massive new amount of information about the dragons as a race and provides for a number of potential plothooks AND character growth opportunities for spike. So I can understand that you might have disliked their offerings, but I must say that, for building up future plotlines and paths for characters, Songco and Lewis seem to be VERY good at envisioning possible futures.
