Is Shining Armor the fun one?

Yes! I can completely see it happening this way.  I can see him as being the pretty goofy/nerdy but fun father type.  He'd also probably be the most emotional of the pairing as displayed a few times in the show where Cadence (the mother, herself) may have to comfort/console him from time to time, haha!

Cadance stated in "Three's a Crowd" that she was wanting some more excitement, and that life in the Empire was kind of too calm for her. Honestly, I think Shining and Cadance would both be very fun parents, they both seem like that kind of type.

 

 That said, I also kinda see Cadance as probably being the one to deal with rules and punishments too, so I imagine that Shining would ultimately be the more fun one.

Armor is going to be the whole "Go ask your mother" kind of dad... and I can see him in all sorts of hot water when Flurryheart does the whole manipulating one of her parents to get her way ordeal.

 

Otherwise, yeah he is going to be a blast to be around, although I think cadence is going to be a lot of fun to.

He's okay. I mean he can get really stern sometimes like when he yelled at Twilight during A Canterlot Wedding. He also plays with Twilight when she was little like a big brother should, so I would say that he's in the middle of fun.
