BastementSparkle 20,334 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 Plenty of people think they look weird, ugly, or dumb. For various reasons. I personally like them. They aren't as threatening as they used to be, for sure. But they manage to somehow look cute, beautiful, and yet also strange and alien at the same time. Their color schemes are even kind of based off of some insects, I believe, that's pretty cool. Still have no idea what's up with Thorax's antlers though. 4 Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! TBD 17,262 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 (edited) Hate it. Here a thing, changelings are like the rejects due to their scary appearance and their deformation. Thorax disguised himself because not only he is a changeling but he will be judge for his appearance. Once anypony see a changelings they will automatically be scared of them and not just on their bad history with the equestria. Having said that, the transformation allows them to be more "glamorous" and less deformed. Get the massage? This clearly just stated to be ashamed who you are and the appearance you are initially born with. i rather have them in a different shade of dark color but still keeping their old looks, because that what make a changeling a changeling. Also I hoped that QC will produce more of the old changeling to be her new army unlike the ones that betrayed her. I'm going to try to address this, though all I've seen are the new designs and have only that to go off of, so forgive me if I'm off about this. This appears to be what I like to call the "writers making internal change more obvious by making it external too" syndrome. That is to say that in order for the target audience (ie small children between the ages of 4-7) to more easily get the moral that people can change the way they behave and their entire way of life if they so choose. The external changes, the new colors and appearance, are to make it exceedingly obvious that the Changelings that follow Thorax aren't the bad guys anymore. I know it comes off as a facelift to look more pretty (and I'm sure that point of view has some validity as it's harder to take a Changeling's original appearance seriously as a good guy from a kid's perspective), but I think there is a little bit more to it than is being given credit for. Now, do I like it? Uh... meh. It's alright. I wasn't a huge fan of the original designs anyway, so this doesn't really bother me all that much. Since love is their main food source despite how they'll obtain it, it shouldn't effect their appearance. Even if they are matured they will still end up like QC. Love is one thing...but having to change your appearances is other thing. They can still have love even if they're ugly. its their initial looks. QC is born with it, thus her offspring will too. It not like they can't help it by the way they're turn out. Thorax was able to be a normal changeling and a decent person. With any other changeling, they had to metamorphose first, then they were good. Why didn't Thorax change right away when he first learned to both give and receive love? Why was the metamorphosis necessary for the others? The only answer that makes sense is that perhaps changeling figures weren't selling well with the target demographic: little girls. The opposite of this is Starlight Glimmer. She was beautiful and evil, and I loved that. She was also perhaps the mane-six's strongest foe, despite not being an alicorn or some kind of monster. Now she's just misguided. Perhaps Hasbro didn't want to sell toys that could send the message that evil could look good... so let's just make her good, and let's make the reformed baddies look good too, because good always has to look good, and evil has to look evil, just so that there's no mistake that Hasbro isn't promoting the Dark Side as a viable choice with no physical consequences.
