Azureth 687 January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 Say in an episode of the next season Twilight and/or Starlight managed to come up with a spell fixing whatever didn't allow Scootaloo to fly and she was now able to?

They call me Loyalty 1,948 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Scootaloo's impediment allows her to grow in different ways. Besides offering validation to viewers which experience some form of disability.
GrimGrimoire 4,973 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Why would they have to craft a spell? Who is to say she will not fly under her own power eventually? Unless it is specifically stated she is unable to fly for some reason, then I don't think she needs any spells. I know some point out the fact she is not flying yet as proof, but it is really no different than those who take much longer to walk, speak or learn virtually any other skill or task. I actually like her the way she is, since it adds some challenge to her character and gives a little more relatability to her character for many. I would love to see Scootaloo learn to fly, but not thrown on her before she is allowed to truly tackle the challenge on her own in her own way. Later if it was proven she truly could not fly for some odd reason, then I would be good with them using magic to help her. ~No profound statement needed~
Luminance 2,186 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Not all magic can cure anypony's problems and besides it would only be temporary. I want Scootaloo to learn and overcome her obstacles in order to achieve her goal.
Unikitty 1,212 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 I think Scootaloo's disability is important. It shows the viewers that not everyone is the same, but it's completely okay. Scootaloo shows children that even if you can't do things people expect you to be able to do, you can still flourish as a person by finding things you can do well. Her whole character is built around this ideal and it's a very important lesson to teach people. We're not all the same, but that doesn't mean we're any less than anyone else. If Scootaloo were to become just like everyone else, it'd completely throw away the importance of her character to the viewer.
cmarston1 5,959 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 (edited) I wouldn't want to see this happen to be honest. I find Scootaloo to be a lot more interesting if she was unable to fly forever. She would teach kids a valuable life lesson that sometimes there are things that you are simply unable to accomplish, but that doesn't mean you still can't find ways to do the things you love to do. Giving her the ability to fly would take away this from her character. Edited January 4, 2017 by cmarston1
silvadel 1,393 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 If they could fix whatever defect she has that prevents her from flying, that would be a wonderful thing. It also mirrors the long wait for technology to fix problems in our society. "You will never be able to walk/see/hear again" followed by "new experimental treatment has possibilities" to a happy ending does happen sometimes. Where there is time, there is hope. ---- It would also provide a technological motion to their society, a proof that they aren't stuck and are advancing at a fairly normal rather than a stunted rate. 1 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,730 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 I wouldn't like that actually. I love Scoots and her not being able to fly is sad, but Unikitty made fantastic points about it. She may not be able to fly, but that doesn't make her any less important. That doesn't mean she cannot do anything, she has proven that to us already on numerous occasions. Doing this spell thing would bring back a point of 'she needs to be able to fly to be complete' which I don't think is needed. Plus, a simple spell would be too sudden and lack any real depth or development.

That's actually an interesting point, I hadn't thought about it in relation to technology. Technology has limitations though, and if magic or technological advancement is somehow going to help Scootaloo to fly, perhaps there should be some limitation, like she can only be airborne for limited periods of time. bluseymoe 258 January 5, 2017 Share January 5, 2017 I'd rather she achieve flight through hard work and determination. Spells just seem like cheating. She has to earn this.
VeroxVitrus 71 January 7, 2017 Share January 7, 2017 Scootaloo should of learned to fly when she got her cutie mark to fit with the metaphorical meaning, once you find what you're good at in the world, you'll fly. There's one way to teach Scootaloo to fly imo, throw her off a cliff, she will ever fly or die. You'll hear a faint thud if it's the latter. PonyMage 228 January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 I wouldn't like it. She should earn that for herself. (If they decided to confirm she's not disabled... which honestly, I like the idea she is as well). This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight. Olsen1987 133 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 permanently i would of course be very happy for Scoots.after all, she wants to fly so much, it would be too bad for them (Hasbro) to keep her grounded.
